Seller worked with the builder to design this boat and has maintained it carefully Boat is very quiet great for nature cruisers or to combine with someone who doesnt want to paddle but wants to hang out with kayakers Boat has bright red ablative anti-fouling bottom paint as of February 2022 Stock #236875 One of a kind electric runabout commissioned from sailboat builder Mark Johannesen! This boat was custom-built for the current owner in 2019 (delivered in early 2020) by Mark Johannsen of Johannsen Boat Works in Vero Beach (of Trinka and Raider sailboat fame), starting with the last Raider 16 hull to be molded (#159) as Mark was going out of the sailboat business. Customization--with advice from the original designer John Drawe--centered on omitting centerboard and centerboard housing, mast and all sailing rig/gear while strengthening the hull at the stern to carry the custom extra wide motor mount for the electric motors. The overhanging "gull wings" of the sailboat design made the original Raider sailboat essentially untippable in any wind. On this powerboat they remain to add elegance and an unmistakable presence--especially with a long "snoot" projecting forward to glide over the waves rather then through them--and so quietly with electric instead of gas power! This boat is in storage available for showings January 2024 The name NESSIE, of course, refers to the famous Loch Ness monster in Loch Ness in Scotland. (Owner thought of calling the boat DARTH RAIDER but had been to Scotland recently and hence opted for the Scottish reference instead of "Star Wars". But the boat still looks a little like Hans Solo's Millenium Falcon, owner thinks!) Designed primarily for one operator/pilot sitting on the port side at the stern, there is space for a second passenger facing across--and possibly someone light forward, but the high-tech sailboat design makes moving around by anyone once underway problematic. And the boat is best, and most fun, for one regardless. Equipped with three high tech German 3hp Torqueedo Travel 1003C electric outboard motors, this charmer tops out at 11-12 kmph (kilometers an hour) if run flat out (which will run the batteries down in 50-60 minutes) but can cruise for up to 2:30 hours at 7-8 kmph if power draw is held down accordingly. (Extra batteries could be purchased from Torqeedo or West Marine to double the time range. However, this is not recommended because changing batteries on the water while possible is somewhat awkward and difficult.) The two outside motors are controlled by dual throttle lever-type controls mounted together on a freestanding (but tethered) center control console at the stern (oriented for control by a pilot sitting on the port side), bypassing the electronic controls in the tillers for those motors, while the tillers of those outside motors are linked together to allow steering with one (right) hand. Throttle control of the center motor remains in the electronic control in its tiller--which can also be used for steering when only one motor is being used for docking, etc. while that motor mostly serves to add power straight ahead since steering with the two outside motors is usually all that is needed. The liquid crystal display board for each motor provides readouts for (a) current power drawdown in kw; (b) current speed in kmph (kilometers per hour--by satellite to reflect tidal currents or wind whether against you or helping); (c) theoretical range remaining in battery based on current kmph speed; and (d) % of battery capacity remaining for use. Bare boat weight is some 200 pounds but overall weight is not known---maybe 275-300 (including water ballast forward and starboard to make use without a sail feasible). Cockpit is self-bailing from rain and washing water when at rest on trailer or at dock while boat is equipped with large (tethered) plugs to block the sailboat-type self-bailing holes at stern while underway to prevent backflow of water into the cockpit in the absence of a mast/sail forward pushing the bow down and hence stern up in operation. Water coming onboard during operation thus cannot drain out but experience has been that this simply doesn't happen in normal operation; the boat glides over waves rather than plowing through them. It includes a mushroom type anchor/full line and an augur type anchor for sand flats. Bright red ablative anti-fouling paint was added in February of 2022 to allow keeping it in the water indefinitely if desired and permitted. Adds to the look as well, of course! The boat has been in inside storage for nine months each year since delivery in early 2020. Usage only intermittent in the other three. In short, this boat is a terrific day cruiser for around a quiet lake or other confined waters, but it also can take waves very nicely (by gliding over them--remember that long snoot!) if the wind arises! And it is absolutely the only one like it in the world! Rather like sailing without having to deal with sails or tack! Even the sound of hull smacking on water as you glide along! (Just not a high-performance hydroplane despite its appearance.) If you want a boat that will be the center of attention among your friends and anyone at the launch ramp, this one is it! Please ask for a detailed set of "Notes on NESSIE" for further details about this unique craft. Reason for selling is moving towards a smaller sailbaot or inflatable.

I am moving up to a larger boat. I bought this boat in winter 2013. At that time it had not been sailed in 27-years and had been kept indoors. The sails look brand new. Here is what I have done to the boat: New mast and rigging including a new backstay rig - this is not going anywhere now. New ruddercraft hydraulic rudder and extra long tiller for single handing. New axle, wheels, tires and spare on the trailer. New flip up wheel stand for tongue. New submersible LED lights for trailer (purchased, not installed). I have put more money into this boat than I am asking for it but I can't have two boats. In full disclosure there is a drip at the keel swing bolt which I believe just needs to be tightened. Huge cockpit fits 4-6 easily. Comes with a water resistant canvas cover. She's a fast boat at all points of sail but get her off the wind and she screams. My son and I got crazy one day and were sailing her down wind in 20 knots and were flying right up to the point the mast snapped - hence the new rig. Sorry, but I am peeling the name off of it, that belongs to me.

Up for sale is my 16' Prindle. The main sale is multi colored and in very good shape considering this is not a new boat, the jib is solid Yellow. The Boats pontoons are in very good shape with no soft spots. The Trailer is Aluminum and also in good shape and has bearing buddies installed. I have not sailed in years but have sailed extensively on both this prindle and other sailboats. The 16 Prindle handles the heavy wind far better than a hobie and very importantly can be self righted when/if you flip it by just one person. This point can not be overstated you dont want to be stranded in the middle of the lake because you are sailing an 18' It will take a weekend to clean up and to do the intisl setup. On a prindle each rudder is raised and lowered manually and independantly of the other by two different lines, for a total of four four foot lines. These lines are about three to four feet long each. These lines are available at lowes or home depot in the rope section and cost a total under $10.00. It is easy with just a coat hanger to re-line your rudders in about 20 minutes and is part of good maitenance to do on who evers prindle you adopt. Besides this just a good overall cleaning and waxing much like you would your car. The trailer has Michigan plates but the tabs are expired. I contacted secretary of state today and was told that boats under 20' in Michigan do not have title but just a bill of sale, please feel free to confirm this independantly with the Michigan Secretary of State office. All the other ropes and block along with the main and jib sails and the boom, Mast and cables, have been stored inside and are in excellent condition. I am no longer including the trampoline so you will have to buy a new one. This is good because new trampolines are so much better than the original trampolines that came with these boats. The reason is you tend to slide across these tramps very often as you move from port to starboard under the boom and vice versa and nothing is worse than the original trampoline for this or a modern trampoline with burs/small inperfections. You also want a trampoline that will be smooth to slide across without any obstacles in the mat ie Straps, Gromets, Rope and in my opinion rope pockets. See Aromic Tarp Website for 16' Prindle Mats. http://www.atomictarp.com/catamaran_trampolines?id=catamaran_trampolines&bas=&categories=4 The prindle is at my home on commerce lake in Commerce Township, MI. It is loaded on its aluminum trailer in my driveway. $650 firm 248-266-2045 or 248-894-6387 Emailing is the easiest way to reach me, I check my email often thru out the day and can respond to any questions quickly.

Dating back to 1987 this is a very nice condition sailboat by Carolina. Measures just over 16 feet in length. Comes with trailer, fire extinguisher, oars, life jacket, compass and a 2005 Johnson outboard 3 1/2 horse motor with about 10 or so hours of use. Very well maintained over the years. Has always been kept covered. We would prefer local pick-up and payment in the form of cash or a locally obtained US Postal Money Order but cash would be best. If you have no method of towing then It can be towed to wherever you live as long as it is in a 75 or so mile radius of Barre Vermont. Time and gas will be charged for that service and discussions about that arrangement should be made before agreeing to buy it. You should absolutely make arrangements to see it before purchasing it. After viewing you can either use your phone or a made available computer to finish the transaction. This boat is being sold by me for a friend who is the actual owner. You will be doing business with him with my assistance.

The LS-16 is a 16-foot daysailer made by the Chrysler Boat Co. In case you are interested, the LS stands for Lone Star, which was a boatbuilder in Texas that was bought by Chrysler. The LS-16 has a roomy open hull with seats set down from the gunwale, but of course for a lot of sailing people will be sitting on the gunwale. It has 2 centerboards (if that is possible), and you either leave both down or use only the leeward one. The boat is sloop rigged, with a main and a jib. It sails pretty will with only the main, and in high winds the main can be roller reefed, which turns the boat into a pussycat.Best sailing is with both sails and 2 or 3 people. You need one crewmember to handle the jib sheets, and the 3rd person just serves as ballast. Of course all crew members also serve to keep spray off the skipper. In light breezes you can take 4 people. This LS-16 is an experienced boat. It was built in 1969 and I bought it in 1975. It is an older boat and has seen a lot of sailing, but it still has some sailing left. I've had it on various Wisconsin lakes, including the Madison lakes and Green Lake, also Lake Michigan, and once we took it down to Florida and sailed on the Gulf of Mexico. The boat has had some wood rot problems, but I have repaired those. Of course all of the structural strength of the hull is fiberglass, and that is in good condition. The sails also have had some wear which has been repaired. The trailer is a fairly heavy tilt-bed. The bearings are good and the tires are fair. There is a spare wheel. If you want something that's a bit more than a 1 or 2 person catboat in which everybody gets wet, and for an affordable price, then this boat may be for you.I have included photos from sailing over the years, and also pix of the original LS-16 brochure and spec sheet. Pick up only, at my house outside Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. . Payment by money order or PayPal.
