October 24th, 2015. "Blue Beat" is named after a 1960s Raggae record label. These boats are famous for their excellent interior design: notice the tall 360 degree windows providing big views and lots of light, the raised dinette allowing extra storage and sleeping space below, a galley with two-way Kenyon stove operating on both 110 and alcohol fuel, a 12 volt fridge, a large v-birth with additional storage, and a full bathroom with marine head, sink and shower. Electronics include the Uniden VHF marine radio and Lowrance HDS5 which has a chart plotter, depth sounder and fish finder. Regular annual engine maintenance done at Sunrise Marine Services in San Pedro. Before its most recent trip to Catalina two weeks ago, I had the engine inspected by a marine mechanic and he said it was in excellent condition. He advised only to improve the corroding battery terminals, which I have done. Bottom anti-fouling paint done professionally in the Summer of 2014, with receipts. And a monthly bottom cleaning and zinc service has always been used while the boat has been in its slip. August 2015 accredited marine survey, passing with flying colors. There are several minor issues mentioned in the survey, all of which have been resolved: a crimped intake hose needing replacement, expired flairs, missing O2/smoke detector, some oxidation of the fiberglass normal for a boat this age (could use a polish and some of the wood could use some varnish), and there are some gelcoat hairline cracks also quite normal, a purely cosmetic issue, and structurally in very good condition. Some of the stanchions have corroded and will eventually need some work. Lastly, the lockdown mechanism for the outdrive is not working (a very common problem with these Penta 270s) so I have it locked down with a cable which works just fine. She's a classic with a plank mahogany hull. A complete topside fiberglass lamination was done in 1996. The flybridge deck was also redone in 2005. The 454 Crusader engine blocks were updated in 2008, all dc electrical wiring was updated when the new flybridge dashboard was installed in 2010. Points distribution was updated to electronic ignitions at the same time the original pulley steering mechanism was updated to hydraulic in 2007. Original galvanized steel tanks were replaced by two new polypropylene tanks, new 45 gallon fiberglass fresh water holding and 10 gallon electric hot water heater installed in 2006. 9.2 cu.ft. fridge new in 2012. 1984 Chris Craft 315 Commander sportfish. A real nice fishing boat for the owner who does not mind giving her a little TLC over the winter. The boat is structurally sound and is in overall great shape for her age. Was well maintained by the previous owner. Has twin inboard Mercruiser 340's. Gas engines, not diesel. Previous owner stated that one engine was rebuilt in 2014 and has less than 10 hours on it (no paperwork). The other engine ran fine (hours unknown). Boat has A/C and an Onan Generator. Eisenglass enclosure on flybride is new. Boat does need some TLC. She has been dry docked for a year. Engines were winterized when she was hauled. The boat ended up taking on heavy rain water that partially filled the engine compartment and saturated the carpet inside. Carpet was removed and needs new carpeting. New bilge pump batteries were installed and pumps are now operational. Rain water may have caused damage to the generator and A/C unit, but this has not been confirmed since the units have not been run since she was hauled. Engines have not been run since she was hauled and winterized as well (marina claims boat ran well and can be moved by water if needed). Boat has a V Berth, a head, nice galley area, and a dinette that converts to an additional bed.
