Penn Yan reconditioned 1954 8 ft. Standard dinghy. This fantastic classic survivor is a perfect companion for that classic wooden coastal cruiser. A marine company originating in upstate New York, Penn Yan Boats Incorporated was founded in 1921 by a German immigrant to the United States. Penn Yan Boats built wooden speedboats up until the end of 1966, when they redesigned their entire product line. The desirability of the Penn Yan Composite construction is shown to its best advantage in a dinghy. The alternate soaking when in the water and drying when exposed to the sun ruins the ordinary wooden dinghy but has no effect upon a Penn Yan. Wide and deep, the 8ft. Standard is a thoroughly seaworthy craft. Its round bottom is easy to propel and faster than ordinary dinghies when fit with a small outboard. The canvas hull covering was replaced with fiberglass and varnished interior painted by original owner for ease of maintenance and durability. I'm the second owner. Always stored inside! The famous "Striptight" construction hull comes complete with its original bronze lift rings and oarlock sockets. The interior and exterior were recently sanded and refinished in exterior satin enamel. Gunwales, gunwale bumper, inwales, floorboards, stem band, skeg and seats have been replaced with appropriate materials. It comes with a new cover, oarlocks and oars. The dinghy has a huge capacity for its size and I've fastened the seats so they are easily removed for even more capacity. Easily propelled by oars or low power outboard, the Penn Yan Standard tows properly, as well. It fits perfectly in the back of a small pickup truck on a closed cell camping matress. A much loved-and-cared-for family boat that is a dream to own, you cannot reproduce a class act boat such as this 8 ft. Penn Yan Standard dinghy for twice the price. Internationally famous Penn Yan dinghies are the standard by which all others are judged. Sure, you can have some very nice new tenders for $9,500 or more… Or… You can have THIS very nice tender for $1,800 and keep $7700! There is NO trailer available. I'm asking a very reasonable $1800. A user informed me that this is most likely a Iota 12, Catboat, (Frostbiter) from 1989. There were only 8 made by http://brucekirbymarine.org Bruce Kirby Marine. Bruce Kirby is an Olympic and America's Cup sailor. Possibly the most prolific boat and yacht designer of all time with over 60 boats. According to US Coast Guard built by Stur-Dee Boat Company of Tiverton, Rhode Island. Herreshoff Eagle, 22 ft., 1974 My father owns this boat and questions can be directed to him via: 732.671.2477 Stately daysailer and elegant weekend cruiser designed by famed naval architect Halsey Herreshoff. You either know about the Eagle or you dont. For those who do and have had the pleasure of sailing one, it is considered of of the best designed day sailers ever built. Easy to handle alone, but with room for 4-6. It is stable and very manuverable. With the centerboard up you can bring it into very shallow water. This 22 footer, with classic lines, is for those not satisfied with the ordinary. Gaff rigged sloop, club footed self tending working jib, and topsail. The Eagle sails smartly; shallow draft and retractable center board makes the Eagle easily trailable; all haylards go directly to the cockpit; rigging blocks of wooden or bronze; Spacious cockpit, roomy 6'-6" berths , comfortable handling are worthy of 'big boat' features. Boom tent permits ready, roomy cockpit sleeping. Bowsprit with Eagle figurehead; extraordinary amount of handcrafted teak. There are two small rotten spots of teak that will need fixing. Fiberglass construction, 5 bronze portholes (4 fixed, 1 opening) It also comes with opening portholes and screens. All sails, tent, and cushions in extremely good condition. The included trailer has not moved in over 20 years and we cannot vouch for its roadworthy ability. Buyer must inspect trailer and pay in full before attempting to move the boat. At the very least new tires will be needed.
