View Large Images ? ? Description Built by Ditchburn Boats of Lake Muskoka, Ontario, the 'Malolo' (Flying Fish in Hawaiian), was originally custom built for Casper Erholm of Lake Whatcom, WA in 1927. Ditchburn Boats were known as the Rolls Royce of boats at the time and were considered to be one of the premier speed boat and yacht builders in the world. They also built racing boats, twice winning the Gold Cup and the Harmsworth Trophy once. This fabulous example is thought to be one of only about two-dozen remaining worldwide, with the majority being restored and residing in eastern Canada. Don't miss this opportunity at adding this incredible, extremely rare and highly desired Ditchburn wooden speed boat to your collection. The Malolo was referred to as a 'Gentleman's Racer'. It was exceptionally fast for its day, going 28 miles per hour. It is powered by a Grey Marine four-90 Fireball racing engine and has Dual Carburettors and High Compression. It had to run on aviation fuel at that time. The Malolo's original owner, Casper Erholm, was the son of Charles Erholm, the 'Finnish Laundry King of Bellingham', who founded Pacific Steam Laundry in 1889. In 1921, Erholm's son Casper began his apprenticeship in the family business. One can only imagine the young and entitled playboy cruising in what may have been Lake Whatcom's fastest boat. The Malolo plied the waters of Lake Whatcom from 1927 to 1959, when it suffered hull damage from hitting a dead head. It went into storage and stayed there until 2005, when its stewardship was passed to the passionate master-crafters at Glen Cove Boatworks. The restoration was undertaken by craftsmen Richard Montag, Tom Walton and Terry Buzzard, along with assistance and advice from many others, including historians from the Lake Whatcom Motor Boat Club. With an eye toward keeping this very special and rare watercraft as near to original as possible, the team painstakingly restored 'Malolo'. The result is an absolutely stunning piece of American boat building history that is sure to impress even the snobbiest boaters. The engine refurbishment was entrusted to the legendary Hy Twiford. Hy starting working with his dad at the Cleveland Yacht Club in the family boat repair business, Twiford Marine Services. I've been a marine mechanic for 25yrs and I've owned and cared for this boat most of it's existence. Need to fit it in a garage the trailer comes with break-away tongue, led lights and aluminum mag wheels. Equipped as follows 54lbs thrust trolling motor, triple batteries, triple bank battery charger, recessed cleats, am/fm/CD stereo, under dash led interior lighting, dual live wells, tons of storage space, fuel pre-primer (no pumping bulb), 22pitch SS 4blade prop, custom steering dampener (no need for hydraulic steering), large glove box, extra cup holders, full gauge package incl. water pressure gauge, Humming bird fish finder/depth finder/ GPS. The motor is a carbureted Mariner 150 (fuel injection is nice till something fails $) with perfect compression, carbs serviced, lower lube changed ( Merc hi-perf lube), new impeller, already converted to the" sleep well at night" pre-mix to avoid motor failure. Absolutely solid transom/floors etc. Aluminum hatches. This vessel operates like new, luxurious, everything functions as intended. This is a turn-key package I will insist on a lake test to prove everything stated, she is a very well mannered 60mph vessel. Boat for Sale in North Miami Beach. I have bought this boat in Atlanta 3 years ago as my first boat. I have kept it in the water and used it a few times a year. Engine was running last I checked in December/14. I had the boat just serviced at Haulover Marina, and changed the steering cable, in November, but when I went back to Miami in December the steering wheel was stuck, so I let it sit in the dock until now. Boat is sold as is. Seats are in fair condition, but one of the back seats has a small tear. The floor is soft close to the center , around the middle hatch. One of the wood panels in the front seat back is rotten, but it is attached and barely noticeable. There are some scratches all over the outer hull , but I think these are normal wear and tear. The main issue is indeed the steering cable that needs to be replaced. I have bought a new battery last year and I sent the boat regularly (every 6 months) to be serviced at the haulover marina, I am selling it because I live in Atlanta and my son is moving back to Atlanta this summer after finishing college. I think this boat would be a good starter boat, as it was for me, but since I am not going to have it serviced now, I am selling as is and for a very low price. I do not have the trailer anymore. The boat will need to be towed - I have BOAT US, so I can have it towed to the haulover park in North Miami beach so it can be put in your trailer. If you can tow it, the boat is located at the Mauli Lake in North Miami Beach.

I purchase boat in August 2014 from Boat Angel donation Center and pick it up from the owner from Chico ,Ca to convert for fishing boat and didnt have time to start....Its Solid boat with inboard V8 engine. Owner told me that engine in working condition, but I didnt take a chance to start, just didnt want start my self, I ask mechanic to start and service engine, witch I didnt have time to do it. Boat has a clear title.Trailer 2 axle.
