A search through Yachtworld’s database of active 387 Catalina listings plus ones that have sold in the U.S. in 2016 show the average listing price is $152,166 and the AVERAGE SALES PRICE is $147,785. SHANNON has the desirable shoal / wing keel, blue hullsides, traditional rigging, and has lower hours showing than any other that I could find on the market! I am told that the previous owner passed away last winter. The bank holding the mortgage subsequently foreclosed upon SHANNON and she is now available for an incredible buying opportunity! Please view the 200+ photos of this 387 Catalina to see just how much this one shines! SHANNON is powered by a 40hp Yanmar diesel engine. The hour meter on the tachometer reads just 334 hours on it. This Catalina has two staterooms, a fully enclosed head & shower, plus a large main salon. She is hull number 62 from the factory. Here are some of the other features that I am aware of: Ultraleather seating surfaces in salon Windlass Anchor System Teak and holly flooring in the salon and staterooms Electric head Princess gas stove and Oven Delonghi Convection Oven Propane solenoid valve Acu-Gage water level monitor Water heater Standard Horizon VHF (appears newer) In-counter drop-in refrigerator Xantrex Power Inverter Charles Battery Charger Bow dodger Color Raymarine chartplotter/ radar unit at the helm Raymarine radome on the mast Raymarine autopilot at the helm Sony XPLOD Stereo with CD Changer Based on my observations, this Catalina exhibits a number of features and benefits beyond what I would consider an average 387 Catalina of this year. My observations include: The flag blue paint exhibits tremendous shine The sails, covers, and rigging lines appear to be in good, if not excellent, condition The stainless rails all appear to be in good condition and exhibit great shine The cabin appears to have been lightly used She has the optional air conditioning for the master stateroom (see note below) Her bow dodger and associated canvas appear to be in serviceable (if not good) condition Her engine appears relatively clean in appearance She has a newer LCD television in the salon with DVD player Her manuals are present She has the desirable WING KEEL/ SHOAL DRAFT (4’10”) She has brand new 4D batteries that were installed in October (2016). Based on looking at SHANNON and moving her to her current slip, I noticed the following imperfections/ items that may need attention: The board on air conditioning unit appears to need replacement. The A/C initially powered up for me on October 21st and blew cold air, however, the breaker tripped about 10 minutes after running. Power was checked and is good going into the board; however, it appears that the board shorted. This is relatively common for A/C units as we had a board failure two weeks ago on one of our vessels in Florida. (We had a board replaced for $600 last month in Florida.) There is area of paint on the starboard side that shows imperfections if seen up close. Upon closer inspection from various angles, I could see that there was a prior repair in that area that goes above the waterline to the cap and runs forward from mid-ship to the bow area. I am guessing that the surface in that spot was not prepped well enough for the paint. See photo.There are some spots on the interior wood walls where the stain has lightened. (The most noticeable areas are directly behind the shelf adjacent to the sofas. If SHANNON were my personal vessel, I would let the areas be and not bother re-staining/ refinishing.) The map table has discoloration in the wood. (I would plan to refinish this, if SHANNON were my personal boat.) While I consider the interior and exterior to be relatively clean in appearance, the next owner may desire to spend some hours (or hiring a detailer) to go through each hatch / surface / cubby hole to greater clean the appearance to his or her liking. The macerator pump appears to need replacement as its breaker trips immediately. I moved this boat on October 21st on Back Creek in Annapolis, Maryland. She started right up and ran great while underway. There are sails in the AFT stateroom. Please see the photos. To me, each looks to be in good condition. Note that my observation is solely based on what I can visually see of them in the stateroom. The mast is currently in storage near SHANNON’s current slip. Port Annapolis Marina quoted 14-16 hours to rig + tune the mast. They charge $105 per hour for rigging. Other yards will charge less, but for the purposes here, I recommend budgeting $1800 to re-step the mast. For those that desire to transport this Catalina via truck, it is a benefit to keep the mast down until she reaches her new destination. The sails are currently in the aft stateroom. They look exceptionally clean to me. It is important to note that of those sold comps above; the vast majority had more hours. (Average hours are generally accepted at 100 hours per year. I will be happy to send out the comps to those that request via email.) Further note that those numbers reflect the average prices. In my experience, comps with high hours, significant flaws, and high wear and tear tend to sell below the average price. Those comps with low hours, few flaws, and low wear and tear tend to sell above the average price. WE ENCOURAGE ALL SERIOUS PARTIES TO INQUIRE AND LOOK AT SHANNON. 1985 Catalina 27 Tall Rig One word may sum up the success of the Catalina 27—VALUE! For sale, Stamford CT, Tall Rig, Diesel, Wheel Helm, excellent condition. The Catalina 27 is an American classic. First launched in 1971, more than 6,600 boats were built during a 20-year production run, making it possibly the best-selling 27-footer of all time. Frank Butler, the 27's co-designer, as well as the founder and driving force behind Catalina Yachts, has an uncanny knack for creating boats that people love. The Catalina 27 is a spacious, user-friendly family cruiser. Even by today's standards, these boats are quite roomy for a 27-footer. The designers provided this room and decent cruising accommodations in a package that remains good looking and "yacht-like" to most sailors’ eyes. A PHRF rating of around 210 means that the Catalina 27 can be raced competitively on Wednesday nights or in active one-design fleets, although racing is not its forte. It is an ideal boat for the way most of us use our boats, that is day sailing and weekend outings. The Catalina 27 was a "big" boat when it was first introduced in 1971. In fact, at the time it was the queen of the Catalina fleet. The look is " California1970s modern." This translates into an almost flat sheer line with a large but nicely blended cabin trunk and cockpit coamings. There is plenty of freeboard and nearly 9 feet of beam, which, of course, creates space below. Under the water, the high aspect fin keel sweeps aft, as does the spade rudder. The Catalina 27 hull is solid fiberglass and the thickness tapers significantly from the waterline up. The deck is plywood cored. On deck, the Catalina 27 has a shallow but comfortable cockpit with a locker to port and aft lazarette. The companionway is enormous and there is not a bridge deck to speak of. The traveler is mounted over the companionway, The headsail tracks are inboard, allowing close sheeting angles. The forward hatch mounts flush, which is nice looking and saves a few toe bruises. Down below, the interior is spacious and user-friendly. The huge companionway makes stepping below a breeze. The layout includes a V-berth forward followed by an enclosed head. The saloon has two opposite settees and the galley is aft to port. This configuration includes plenty of storage, Headroom is about 6 feet and ventilation is adequate. One of the most surprising features of the 27 is how nicely it sails. The boat is fairly well balanced, and thrives upwind in moderate conditions. The Catalina 27 is responsive, relatively fast and easy to sail. The Catalina 27 fits the vague description of coastal cruiser and casual racer. Please contact boat owner John at 215-284-6333. Catalina 30 Mark II -- built in 1987. She is a Tall Rig with Bow Sprite and Wing Keel. This boat has been well maintained and significantly upgraded throughout. This sale includes full sailboat documentation, and the sailboat has a clean title. The sailboat (inside and out) is in real nice condition, and show only normal wear for a sailboat of its age. The sailboat has seen lots of maintenance, upgrades and replacements. She starts, runs, motors, and sails very nicely. The fiberglass interior and interior wood trim are all in good condition. The interior has matching blue seat cushions throughout, and are in good condition (non-smoker owner). A newer 12 volt low level cabin lighting systems both white and red colors was installed throughout the sailboat ('09 Season). The Catalina 30 is one of only 24 sailboats inducted into the Sail America, American Sailboat Hall of Fame. The C30 joins this venerable group of sailing yachts, based upon its sheer excellence as a cruiser / racer sailboat. We love it for its generous interior size, and comfortable cruising ability. The sailboat is a Tall Rig Mast (mast rewired '10 season), with Bow Sprite, and a Wing Keel (wing keel drafts only 3'10") so she can get in and out of shallow water easily. Original Main Sail (serviced and repaired) and has a 135 North Sail Jib, mounted on twin track, Harken III Roller Furling, Main Sail has a blue Sumbrella rollup sail cover and the Jib has a Sumbrella rollup cover installed to the Jib. The sailboat is setup up with single handed rigging controls (all lines lead to cockpit), with two extra winches. The front deck includes an electric anchor capstan winch with a foot switch. The sailboat has 2 large anchors, a large hinged plow anchor (primary) and a large Danforth type anchor as well. Both with 20'chain and 150' long rodes. The engine is a well serviced, very dependable M-25 XP 3-Cylinder Universal Diesel (25hp) engine in good working condition. The engine has been serviced and upgraded, w/new glow plugs (as well as glow plug and starter relays) installed for easy quick starting. The sailboat runs on diesel fuel from an 18 Gallon Aluminum Fuel Tank. Propeller has been upgraded with a two-blade folding Mar-Tec bronze sailing propeller (installed '09 season). Significant amount of new wiring 120v/12 throughout the entire boat (professionally rewired), including the addition of multiple additional 120v (10) and 12 (5) lighting stations throughout boat, a newly upgraded with a heavy duty battery wiring system and significantly upgraded heavy duty 12 volt systems behind original wiring panel. 2 new Group 27 batteries deep cycle batteries installed ('13 season). Shipwright in-line dual bank 110v battery charger with automatic relay disconnects from the main electrical buss. Additional 12 volt wiring and switching for a 12 volt inverter, and third battery was partially completed, but not fully installed. 2 - 12 volt inverters are included (small 200 watt, and large 850 watt). 30-amp shore power system with on-board GFI system includes 50'-30A shore power cord, 30 amp cable adapter to 120v plug included. All 120v outlets throughout the sailboat have been replaced with new devices and stainless steel cover plates. A nice clean bathroom (with both bright 120 volt lighting and 12 volt white/red lighting) has on-demand electric pressurized hot and cold water sink and shower. Well maintained marine toilet in good working condition with functional 20 gallon waste holding tank and new macerator pump (installed '11 Season). A well-lit galley kitchen includes twin sinks (a custom wooden cover panel for a sink to provide more counter space), new single lever pull out type sink faucet, with on-demand 12 volt electric Hot/cold pressurized water system, installed a new on-demand water pump with auto pressure shutoff ('10 Season), two fresh water holding tanks, 20 gallon Starboard fresh water tank, and 30 gallon optional nose tank, twin source (120v or engine) 6 gallon hot water heater for hot water. For cooking there is a working 2 burner CNG stove/oven combination, with a 12 volt electric tank shutoff valve. The sailboat's galley also includes a large custom countertop burner cover for additional counter space or cooler holder. The galley also includes a large built in ice box and a countertop microwave oven for quick cooking. Large interior salon includes custom interior cabinetry, such as an extra cocktail table, custom communications center which includes VHF Radio, with remote VHF RAM Mike, and an AM/FM/CD Player with remote, with ported, wall mounted custom made speaker cabinets and external cockpit speakers (ready for replacement). The salon also includes a wall mounted tide clock and ships clock. All Horizon VHF Two-Way Radio, Garmin GPS, Garmin Fish/Depth Finder, and Pioneer Stereo (easy direct MP-3 hookup to stereo through patch cord) are either 3 or 4 year's old. All exterior lighting switching was rerouted to the helm. Added mast mounted spreader bar lights for night time sail handling and or anchoring, Mast fully rewired ('11 Season), w/new quick connect base connections. LED lighting added to the port cockpit lazzerette. All internal halyards (replaced '10 season) lead back to the cockpit for sail handling, rope and pulley boom vang included. Two extra winches added to the cockpit for jib control from the helm. It's ready for you and your family! This yacht is named Desiderata. She has been a project for over 3 years now. There is nothing left aboard this yacht that has not been inspected and gone threw. My opinion is that overall the yacht is in great shape for its age and a shining example of the long term durability of a well built fiberglass yacht. Desiderata was re-launched on December 16 2013 in St. Petersburg FL following a 2.5 year refit in the town of Dresser WI at "Shipwreck Boat Works" a highly reputable boat service yard. Having also spent its previous 40+ years in the freshwater of the Midwest's lakes and rivers getting only seasonal use, the yacht has an air of crisp shiny newness about it despite its age. The deck paint and non-skid is "Awlgrip" brand put on under the supervision of the professionals at "Shipwreck Boat Works". The gelcoat on the freeboard is original, but was restored to a high gloss. The bottom was completely smoothed, faired, and then covered with "Interlux Epoxy Barrier Coat System" put on after at least 2 years of drying out on the hard- so there is no risk of sealing water under the barrier coat resulting in a practically blister proof hull. "Interlux Ultra" bottom paint was applied a week before wetting the boat in its new home of St. Petersburg Florida. This yacht sails great in light air, she is fast and nimble, but still behaves herself when the afternoon thunderstorms hit. We have sailed her to every corner of Tampa Bay as well as a 700+ nm journey from St. Petersburg to her current home in Jacksonville FL which took us threw the legendary Florida Keys. We have full faith this yacht could take you anywhere your willing to sail. But we personally have decided to move up to a bigger cruising yacht that is an opportunity we can't pass up.
