In 1927, Chris Smith's son Jay took control of the company, changing the name to Chris Craft and for the next 31 years became the world's largest producer of mahogany runabout boats. During WW2, Chris Craft aided the war effort by building over 12,000 military vessels including patrol boats, launches, and rescue vessels for the US Navy. With the end of the war came prosperity for many and Chris Craft benefitted by supplying speed boats that became popular at lakes throughout the upper Midwest and Northeast. Utilizing manufacturing efficiencies learned in wartime, Chris Craft was able to expand its market to both middle-class and wealthy owners." Reason for selling is not enough time to use the boat.

1969 Chris-Craft Commander Boat is located in Lake of the Ozarks,Missouri. Please contact the owner @ 314-503-seven zero nine seven or byansen17(at)gmail(dot)com...The 1969 Chris Craft 42 Commander has classic style that is still copied today. Here is your chance to own an original MacKerer design at a fraction of the cost of new. All original and all working, twin 427's -- 300 hp each, hard top, open salon, full galley, and two private staterooms provide room for family and friends. The Chris Craft Commander line represents the first fiberglass cruiser series built by Chris Craft, commencing with the first 38' Express designed and built in secret, and shipped to the 1964 New York Boat Show under wraps for what was a truly stunning unveiling. Fred Hudson, working in conjunction with Chris Craft's Senior Vice President, A.W. "Bill" MacKerer, designed the first 38' Commander Express. In subsequent years there were many more models of the Commander penned by Dick Avery, all of which have nearly flawless proportion and great attention to detail. The Commanders created a boating style of their own, flawless proportions, logical function, and the feeling of solid value. When you saw one (and see one today) you immediately think "Chris Craft". They are known by marine surveyors, collectors, and boating enthusiast's world-wide as "the standard" for fiberglass boat construction." This is by far the cleanest 1969 boat on the market. I am the fourth owner of this beautiful vessel. One owner for 40 years, formerly named "Andon" and kept on a hoist in a boathouse in Michigan a good majority of her life. I bought it there and transported it to Lake of the Ozarks Missouri in June 2013. The boat was completely original and is stunning to look at. I have not renamed her, but she is a freshwater only vessel, and has never spent a winter in the water until this year. The vessel is wonderful but I am forced to sell. Currently she is stored at a marina at The Lake of the Ozark. All maintenance records, original books, invoice sheets and checklist from factory, and several other manual are available. This boat is a must see!! Make: Chris-Craft Model: Commander Length: 42 Dealer: BoatsFSBO.com ID: 245711 Ad provided by BoatingBay

FOR AUCTION WE HAVE A 1979 CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER 41. SHE WAS LIENED FOR NON PAYMENT OF STORAGE AND AS SUCH WE HAVE PRICED HER AGGRESIVELY TO SELL QUICKLY AT LITERALLY 50% OF OTHER SIMILAR BOATS ON YACHTWORLD . RETAIL PRICES RANGE BETWEEN $40,000 AND $60,000.THE CHEAPEST BOAT ON YACHTWORLD CURRENTLY ( 01/26/17 ) IS $35,000 AND IS A LOT MORE DATED IN APPEARANCE DOWN BELOW . OVERALL I WOULD SAY SHE SHOWS WELL AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION , THERE ARE NO BLISTERS BELOW THE WATERLINE AND SHE WAS LAST OUT THE WATER APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO . ABOVE THE WATERLINE THE HULL IS CLEAN WITH ORIGINAL GELCOAT AND NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF PREVIOUS DAMAGE . UP ON DECK SHE IS SOLID UNDERFOOT AND WE DID NOT FIND ANY SOFT SPOTS WHEN WALKING AROUND . UP ON THE FLYBRIDGE EVERYTHING APPEARS NORMAL AND IS CLEAN AND IN DECENT CONDITION . AS YOU ENTER THE CABIN TO WALK DOWN INTO THE SALON AREA YOU WILL NOTICE THE FLOORING HAS BEEN REPLACED AND LOOKS GOOD , ONE OF THE MOST NOTICEABLE THINGS WE FOUND WAS THAT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF WATER INTRUSION THROUGH THE WINDOWS !A LOT OF OLDER BOATS TEND TO SUFFER FROM THIS PROBLEM . IT IS DRY AND THE WOOD AROUND THE WINDOWS IS IN GOOD CONDITON . THE GALLEY AREA IS OPEN PLAN TO THE SALON AREA AND OVERALL IS CLEAN AND IN GOOD CONDITION , I WOULD CONSIDER BUYING A NEWER REFRIDGERATOR AS THE EXISTING IS SHOWING ITS AGE , AFTER SAYING THAT YOU COULD STILL EASILY CONTINUE USING THE ORIGINAL ONE WHICH WORKS WELL . THIS MODEL HAS THE DESIREABLE QUEEN ISLAND BERTH IN THE AFT MASTER CABIN , WITH THIS YOU ARE EASILY ABLE TO WALK AROUND THE BED . THERE IS A LOT OF CUPBOARD AND CLOSET SPACE IN THE AFT MASTER AND SHE WAS ACTUALLY BEING USED AS A LIVEABOARD PREVIOUSLY . THERE IS A EN-SUITE BATHROOM WITH STAND UP SHOWER AND HEAD / TOILET . FORWARD IS THE SECOND CABIN WHICH ALSO HAS ITS OWN HEAD/ BATHROOM WITH SHOWER AND HAS A V BERTH CONFIGURATION . ALTHOUGH NOT PICTURED WE DO HAVE THE 2 FORWARD V BERTH CUSHIONS . DOWN BELOW ARE THE POWER PLANTS WHICH ARE TWIN FRESH WATER COOLED CRUSADER 454 ENGINES , I BELIEVE THEY HAVE AROUND 1500 HOURS ON EACH BUT WILL RECONFIRM EXACTLY FOR YOU .THE ENGINE ROOM SHOWS WELL AND IS CLEAN AND TIDY IN MY OPINION BOTH ENGINES START AND RUN ALTHOUGH WE RAN THEM BRIEFLY DUE TO THE FACT WE DO NOT KNOW THE CONDITION OF THE FUEL WHICH DOES SMELL OLD .I WOULD EXPECT TO SERVICE BOTH ENGINES MEANING I PERSONALLY WOULD DO AN OIL CHANGE , FILTERS ,PLUGS , WATER IMPELLARS ETC AND I WOULD HAVE THE FUEL POLISHED OR JUST HAVE THE TANKS PUMPED DRY TO BE SAFE .FRANKLY YOU COULD DO NOTHING AS WELL BUT I LIKE TO KNOW THAT EVERYTHING IS IN TIP TOP CONDITION BEFORE I LIKE TO GO ANYWHERE .IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO DO THESE THINGS YOURSELF AND WANT TO HAVE THEM DONE I CAN HELP IN GETTING A LOCAL MECHANIC TO DO THE SERVICE FOR YOU AT YOUR EXPENSE THERE IS A CLEAN GENERATOR AS PICTURED AND NEWER AC UNITS . I DID PURCHASE 2 NEW BATTERIES TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS GOOD 12V POWER ON THE BOAT AND TO KNOW THAT THE BILGE PUMPS WOULD BE OPERABLE IF NEEDED . PLEASE FEEL FREE TO E-MAIL OR CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS , WE MAY CONSIDER PARTIAL TRADES ALTHOUGH WE WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS WITH YOU BEFORE BIDDING AND PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED IF WE DO NOT WANT TO TAKE A TRADE .AS AN EXAMPLE YOUR PRIZED CUTLASS CIERA MAY BE A CLASSIC TO YOU BUT TO US WE MAY VIEW IT AS RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION . PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU ACTUALLY HAVE THE FUNDS IN PLACE TO PAY FOR HER ,I AM SORRY TO HAVE TO SPELL THIS OUT BUT YOU WILL BE AMAZED HOW MANY PEOPLE THINK THEY CAN OR WANT TO BUY A BOAT AND EITHER DONT ACTUALLY HAVE THE MONEY OR HAVE NOT CHECKED WITH THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHER , PRIEST ,RABBI GURU OR WHOMEVER . WE RELY ON ACTUALLY GETTING PAID IN ORDER TO SELL THESE BOATS QUICKLY AND CHEAPLY , FEEL FREE TO CALL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS , IF I DONT ANSWER I WILL CALL BACK . WE HAVE A CLEAR MARYLAND TITLE IN OUR NAME , STORAGE IS INCLUDED THROUGH MARCH 1 AFTER THAT IT CAN REMAIN AT $300 PER MONTH ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS . THANKS MATT 410 533 6946
