I am advertising this boat for sale, for a friend that has been building and restoring wood boats for many years. He is from the Port Huron MI area, but now resides in Ga. and continues his craft. This launch is a new custom build using a derelict 1910’s era transport launch as a pattern. The original launch was used to transport people and mail on the St Clair river to and from Harsens Island. It was found around the Alganac area and was thought to be a Chris Smith, but found out later it is not. Some said it might be from a Marine City boatyard. Who knows? The original engine and rudder were missing. It had bench seats along the sides and a starboard navigation light board with the name Redhead carved in it. He built this launch using the original stem and skeg. He also retained the original hull shape using the derelict as a pattern. The new construction consists of: Single length white oak steam bent framing Framing skinned with 1/4" Ocoume marine plywood and sealed with West, Smith’s and Z-Spar paint on interior. 3M 5200 adhesive and ½” x 3” mahogany planking on bottom and sides Mahogany planking on the decks in a beautiful Herringbone pattern Custom built interior using all solid mahogany. Shaped bench seat arms with rosettes. Flooring is ¾” to 1” mahogany boards built using dado joinery and epoxy. Spray stained and varnished. Bottom and side paint is Z-Spar with decks and interior being finished with many coats of Z-Spar Captains varnish. High quality marine upholstery, stainless steel trim, glass windshield and vintage chromed hardware. The engine is from a 1960‘s Lyman lap strake boat. It is a 4 cylinder 120 hp OMC marine engine with a conversion kit. The transmission is a Velvet Drive. Both are in good condition. Mounted gauges for RPM, Oil Pressure and Water Temperature. This engine has more power than the boat needs and easily gets it to a cruise speed of about 12 mph. This launch hull was not designed to plane or run faster. Just cruise. The trailer is tandem axle with surge brakes on the front axle. Double bunked to fit this boat. New bearings and bearing buddies. All lights work. The tires have decent tread but are old. Fine for hauling around here, but I would not feel comfortable using them for a long trip. There is no spare. The trailer came from Michigan with the derelict boat years ago. It is not titled or registered. A bill of sale will be provided. If needed, the owner can raise the boat and trailer to load on your flat bed trailer. This boat was registered in Georgia by the owner/builder in 2007, as a 2007 built Chris Craft replica. The GA issued HIN is 38R29. The registration has expired. Georgia is a non title state for boats. A Georgia Bill Of Sale will be provided. The boat is in very good condition with the exception of a couple small spots of dock rash on the wood rub rail. It has always been stored on the trailer in a closed shop. The registration numbers are made of brass and screwed on. The owner will remove them, fill the screw holes and touch up the paint if desired. I think this launch would look great with a brass, stainless or wood plate on each side for the registration numbers. It has been used in many regional ACBS boat shows with very little use otherwise. The owner/builder is a long time ACBS member. High quality materials and craftsmanship in a reliable and beautiful antique style boat. E-mail with any questions. For Sale 2003 StarCraft Nexstar 1810 Open Bow 4.3 220hp V6. The boat is the nicest cleanest boat you will find for the price hand down, even comes with 1 year engine warranty. The boat is a 1-owner from Iowa. The boat has never in its life spent a night outside or was never used without having a full detail after every use and it shows. The boat looks cleaner that a 2013 boat. If you are a serious buyer and make the trip to see it you will going home with it. I purchased the boat this past fall from the original owner who did not get it winterized in time and the cold weather cracked the engine block. I removed the complete engine and brought it to Mike at Watkins engines, he than got a new block and completely rebuilt the engine to factory specs. All engines he does carry a 1 year full engine warranty. if you compare this boat to others of the same size you will not believe the quality of the seating and features that this boat goes above and beyond with. Like the comfort of the bucket seating and the deep hull. The boat also comes with the factory storage cover, a snap on bow cover and the factory Bimini top. The boat does not have a hour gauge on it but from the looks it is extremely low. The trailer is in like new condition also. The boat needs nothing it is water ready. They noticed the carb was sticky so they installed a Mercruiser rebuild kit and set the factory timing. And with all fluids and check over the bill was just under $700, to be sure the boat is perfect.

It begins with a hand-laminated hull and Formula’s grid stringer system, which accomplishes a couple of things. First, it provides a solid skeleton for the hull. Second, due to the way it’s designed and built, the grid system also provides a positive-molded gelcoat surface in the bilge, which makes for a much neater appearance and easy cleanup. What’s more, all the cavities in the grid system are filled with foam for extra flotation and sound deadening. The grid system is bonded to the inside of the hull with Plexus adhesive, which is so strong, dynamite is about what it takes to remove it. Formula also bonds the hull and deck with Plexus before it tops the seam with a stainless rub rail. Look closely at the screws on a Formula’s rub rail. All the slots on the Phillips screws are indexed perfectly in a north-south, east-west orientation. All of them. On every boat. Up top, the 260 Bowrider’s deck and cockpit liner are one piece, which also makes for more solid construction. In the bow, Formula provides filler cushions as a standard feature. They not only fill in the gap between the cushions, but they also fill in the angled back rests between the bow walk-through. It’s a fantastic setup that allows three-wide lounging up front. Behind the windshield, Formula designer John Adams created a space that’s welcoming and usable. To port, the lounge can be used as an aft-facing chaise or a bench seat for two. The back rest and portside dashboard conceal a spacious head. The wetbar includes a sink, Corian countertops, a concealed trash bin and a 17.5-quart Igloo cooler. For added convenience and safety, the wetbar is fitted with a stainless grab rail and its hatches are supported with gas struts. To starboard, the 260 has a U-shape lounge that wraps from behind the helm seat to the stern bench. Of course, the helm is the place to be and the 260 has room for two, with a separate flip-up thigh bolster at each position. Like all Formulas, the helm is laid out intelligently—and more important—simply, which makes checking the vitals that much easier. Buyers can choose between silver burl or woodgrain dash panels. A standard Ritchie compass tops the dash, which features Livorsi instrumentation, a Kenwood audio system and waterproof accessory switches protected by circuit breakers. Some other thoughtful touches include a motorized engine hatch, white LED courtesy lights for the cockpit and swim platform and polished cupholders throughout the interior. Such features typically aren’t found in entry level boats, but they are the kind of niceties that longtime boaters can appreciate. The 260 Bowrider could never pass for an entry level boat, but when people get into boating, models like the 260 are quite likely the end they have in mind—when they want to show they have arrived.
