The Mission The mission for "bay boats" is, well, for fishing in bays and generally protected, or skinny water. That's why they are called "bay boats." They are a great way for an angler to get out on the water at an affordable price. Add to that a 15-degree deadrise and a 150-hp engine and you will have a boat that will go fast enough for most any angler. The boat draws 13" (32 cm) with the outboard engine up. Distinguishing Features As you can see from the photos on this page, Cobia has put a lot of thought into its re-design for 2012. The builder has taken a close look at its competition and incorporated the best ideas found elsewhere plus adding a few of its own -- Deeper cockpit forward. Cobia has tried to add a feeling of added security in the bow casting area by slightly raising the bulwarks. More usable space. By carefully calibrating the necessary size of the center console and not making it too large, Cobia has been able to re-distribute several inches both forward and aft for a bit more walk-around room. By making the jump seats fold-down, a large casting platform has been created aft. A big foredeck and casting location choices. The redesigned bow allows an angler to cast from any one of three heights: standing on the bow and the anchor locker hatch, standing on the platform across the front of the cockpit on the side locker hatches, and from the cockpit sole itself. Better storage and more. By nestling the rod storage to the inside of the hull sides and providing protective tubes for 7' rods, lots of other space is left for other gear in the port and starboard lockers in the bow. This, together with the other storage forward, storage in the console, and more storage under the two jump seats, it is hard to think of a space that has not been utilized in the 21 Bay. Construction and Design When we compare the Cobia 21 Bay to several other boats in class we find that she has similar characteristics. She is not the lightest nor the heaviest in class. The builder prides itself on engineering the 21 Bay "smart", that is to say, light as possible most places, but very strong in key stress areas. We're told that no wood goes into the boat and that bi-axial fiberglass is used in its hand lay-up building process. All hardware aboard is 316 stainless and the boat has a ss rub rail, something we like to see. The boat has a self-draining cockpit.

Made by the Maverick Boat Company the hull is 25'6" overall with a beam of 8'10". Yamaha Performance Bulletin shows cruising speed of 21.5 MPH at 3000 RPMS and getting 2.65 Miles Per Gallon. Top speed 50 MPH. She comes equipped with factory fiberglass T-Top with electronics box and outriggers. There is an electric flush marine head in the console. She can handle many passengers with the factory forward bow seating, and aft bench seat. The aft seat is hinged to provide full access to the bilges. For the fisherman there is a Transom livewell and two in-deck fishboxes. At the helm there is a deluxe leaning post with tackle drawers and storage beneath. Well, it's time. Our dock was washed away by hurricane Mathew and removed my boat a week before and stored it in my warehouse before it happened. It will be many months before the docks are replaced so it just doesn't make sense to keep her on a trailer. My Cobia has always been kept on my lift and raised out of the water after every use. I always hosed her down to rinse any salt water. I only used my boat for cursing with my kids in the river, never out in the ocean. The bottom has anti fouling paint that was applied in 2016. I purchased the boat from my neighbor who is a retired army Colonel and this was his baby. Every item documented and every item in ship shape condition. Talk about meticulous. In 2015/16 $1500 was spent chasing down a bad temp sensor in the Yamaha and during that exploration many parts were replaced making the outboard very up to date and well serviced! All fluids, spark plugs and hoses are new. The engine runs very well. It is 2 stroke and 130hp. In 2016 I had a Freedom T top installed with a 1.5" stainless steel tower and LED Brite Nite spreader light with 5 SS rod holders. ($2500) All new upholstery on all the seats ($500) and a new steering knuckle and cables installed ($400). The boat steers with me finger and is very accurate. In 2016 I purchased a brand new Lorance depth/fish finder. It has a very Garmin GPS and ship to shore radio. No music radio is installed but the box and marine speakers are there. If you don't need a trailer hen I'll sell separately for $1500 In closing this is a very nice center console boat. We are not a fishing family. We love to cruise the Cape and just go claming in the bays. We always kept it clean and never has it broke down on us. Runs very well, according to my GPS it cruises comfortably at 40mph. Everything works and is just an easy boat to enjoy There are some bumps on the rub rail, one chip as well. The Yamaha mph gauge is a bit hard to read from age. I was going to replace that but didn't. It $200 on eBay and a pop out pop in plug n play repair. One snap has come off on one front cushion. I can't think of anything else. I'm a fastidious owner of all things and try hard to keep my possessions in the best condition possible. Clean title in hand, registration good through 2018, it's sitting on the trailer so I'm willing to deliver up to 100 miles for $3/mi loaded. I feel strongly it's worth 12,500 because I know boats and I know this one but it's only worth the highest bid

211 Bay 2004 Cobia 21ft Center Console 200 Hp Yamaha. Lightly used, used mostly in freshwater at Smith Lake but has been in salt water a few times when going to the coast. The engine has 134 hrs right now. This is my fathers boat and I will be attempting to sell it for him.
