2002 HELLS BAY BOAT WORKS INC Whipray This Whipray is probably the best flats skiff out there, easy to pole and gets into hotspots before the fish can. It is lighter than current models and floats shallower. This is a one owner boat. The engine was updated in 2008 to a Yamaha 50hp two-stroke (it has only 370 hours on it) and a Bob's Machine Shop jackplate was added, the Ramlin trailer had a new axle put on in 2015. It has a 55lb MinnKota trolling motor with AGM battery, a Lowrance Elite 5 GPS/fishfinder and a new (2017) Icom M-24 vhf radio. I have added a padded, folding seatback to the front of the poling platform (no more backaches after a long day of fishing!), a removable back brace and a casting platform, all by Sanchez Brothers. A new seat cushion was made for the boat last year and a new steering cable was installed. It comes with a 23' Stiffy Hybrid pushpole and a custom canvas cover. The boat has always been garaged or covered and engine and trailer have always been professionally maintained. I'm selling the boat only because my wife is after me to get a boat that will carry more people and would be more comfortable for snorkeling, otherwise, there is no way I would be selling it. The boat is a museum piece in bristol condition. The decks, super structure, hull and bottom, have been professionally painted every 1 to 1 1/2 years since new. "Chinito" looks like a fiberglass boat. Terry Burton Custom Crafts, Inc. has done the wood work on the boat for the past 26yrs. Terry is now retired and this is the only boat he still works on. The boat from the cap rail up has just been refinished in July 2008 including varnish, teak deck treated with Sikkens and superstructure painted.Deember 2008 boat has just completly been repainted from the cap rail down including bottom paint. It doesn't get any better than this. ACCOMODATIONS: The forward cabin has a v-berth with a custom made filler to make a large berth, aft to port is a hanging locker with 2 custom made L-shaped shelves for lots of storage. Across to starboard is the head w/shower and pressure water. There is hidden rope lighting throughout the forward cabin and head allowing for night lighting the area witout disturbing your partner when getting up in the middle of the night. Up the steps to starboard is a the helm station across to port is the galley. Aft of the galley is the port settee that converts into an over under bunk, across to starboard is the dinette where the table lowers to become a double and allows the boat to sleep a total of (6). There are mini blinds thru-out the salon and has exterior UV sun screens over all windows. Lots of storage thru-out the boat. Many extra drawers have been added. The forward cabin has added African Fiddle Back Anagrey veneers to where formica used to be. The grain in this wood is beautiful. The dinette tabletop is burled book matched maple. GALLEY: The galley is well appointed with pressure water, stainless steel sink, 4 burner propane stove and oven, Sub-Zero refrigerator w/freezer and icemaker, ELECTRONICS: The chart plotter and duplicate instrunments are up on the bridge and rest below. That marina closed and the full boat cover was made for the boat to protect it against the sun. There is a recent out of the water survey available (3-4 yrs old). The boat was cunstructed in Jurong, Singapore in 1969 and shipped to the states. The only reason I am putting it up for sale is due to the fact that my fianc and I have a child on the way and would make much better use of a smaller boat.The boat gets serviced every single winter by Van Waggoner, in St Pete. All other work gets done there as well.When I bought this boat it was already in wonderful condition but with all the upgrades it has, it is now absolutely one of a kind. The transom has been customized 100% to accommodate the twin motors. There have also been numerous storage compartments that have been custom installed in the boat as well as insulated fish boxes, coolers, and a 30 gallon live well. The boat also has one 160 gallon gas tank and one 60 gallon reserve gas tank. It has a hard top as well as a folding tower for a second command station up top; and believe me it makes a perfect diving board for all ages. This Grady White comes with 2 anchors, 300' of anchor rope and there are absolutely zero soft spots in the deck. The trim tabs work perfectly, the boat has black bottom paint ready to be kept right on the water, a set of down riggers, 5 life jackets, and an entire eisenglass that buttons around the cabin to secure you from rain in case you get caught in a storm.There are three mercury gauges, and I have a garmin 40S with two transponders, one for the top,or bottom, wherever you want to drive the boat from.I had a lot of custom fiberglass work done, had new storage compartments made and had a bow skit permanently glassed and painted into the haul. The boat has been re-powered with two 2001 mercury optimax 225 hp two stroke oil injected motors. The motors run beautifully and have new starters and new alternators replaced in each. I replaced all four batteries that go on the boat as well. These motors get excellent gas mileage, I can put $100 in the tank and go 30+ miles out and back and the boat will do 60 mph no problem.As far as the trailer goes its a 2005 tandem axle float-on trailer. I rebuilt the trailer myself; I replaced every nut and bolt that needed to be replaced with stainless steel ones. I repacked my dual torsion axles with grease, bought new break pads and disc brake rotors for each side so the trailer is 100% ready to go.
