PRICE REDUCED! At this price, this boat is a steal. If you had this trailer made now, it alone would sell for over $2000. I know it's a buyer's market for boats, but this boat is very rare to find at all, let alone in overall good, complete condition of this one. She just needs a couple of weekends of TLC and you could take her sailing! The boat is currently lying in Southern California. Registration in California for both trailer and boat are up-to-date. I have not sailed her in many years, but she has been sitting quietly under a good cover, waiting for more fun. And fun this boat is. Let me just say, one of my favorite memories of the many I have sailing this boat, is of a Fall day in the early 1990s on Lake Erie, just off-shore from down-town Cleveland. We had five adults aboard, it was 55 degrees with sun and clouds and a 15-20 knot breeze. The four crew and skipper found the port-and-starboard hiking straps very handy that day. I can see us now, all hiked out over the windward side, flying westward along the shore, blasting along on a broad reach under a steady northerly. Had we flipped her it would have been a cold 15 minutes, but this crew was fairly expert and sitting back aft, tiller extension in hand, I could not help the exhilarating feeling that we were about to become airborne. I've had some inquiries about the minimum space required to store the boat, its minimum footprint, in other words. Conservatively, I'd say you need at least 26.5 feet long and 6.5 to 7 feet wide to store the boat and move around it comfortably.. I built this little bald-headed schooner to a high quality standard in 1988-1990. Phil Bolger designed the boat for protected and semi-protected waters as a daysailer and rough-and-ready overnighter. She is featured in Dynamite Payson's original book on Instant Boatbuilding. Although, I can tell you that this boat was hardly instant! Note well: the boat and trailer include everything you need to go sailing. Nothing is missing. She draws about 3 feet with the daggerboard down. About 9 inches with the daggerboard up. I should also note that this boat is not a toy. She was made to be driven hard. She was created by one of the most talented boat designers of the 20th century and she sails beautifully on all points, with light weather helm to windward, and a very balanced helm downwind. The boat is built of mahogany doorskin quarter-inch plywood for deck and hull-sides. Half-inch out-door plywood for the bottom. I carefully inspected all panels for voids and flaws. Structural members consist of various appropriate soft- and hard-woods. The bowsprit and mid-ship stiffener on deck are of solid apatong. Booms and gaffs of clear, vertical-grain sitka spruce, custom-ordered from M.L. Condon. Tiller of mahogany. Masts of SPF two-by-fours laminated and hand-planed and sanded to shape. Masts are solid and totally bullet-proof. They have some weight to them, but are, nonetheless, easily stepped without much effort. The boat was built using the original Chem-Tech T-88 structural epoxy glue and Chem-Tech's sealing and laminating resin. Marine bronze anchor-fast nails and bronze screws used where appropriate. The entire boat is sealed in epoxy. The outside of the hull is sheathed in polypropylene cloth set in laminating epoxy, and finished with an epoxy paint no longer made, which has lasted the years quite well. The masts are sealed in epoxy. The booms and gaffs in marine varnish. Deck hardware consists of bronze cleats bolted through the deck and reinforcing stiffeners with stainless bolts. Rigging is best-quality line from West Marine, still in excellent, soft, pliable condition. Sails custom-made by Sail-rite, consisting of mainsail, foresail, flying jib and staysail. Wood-shell blocks are really beautiful and one size larger than necessary for the service, and should last forever. The boat has a motor-well, but I never used it. the boat goes nicely under paddle-power, and comes with four paddles. A little electric or gas engine of 2-5hp would be more than sufficient to power her wherever you want to go. The motor-mount itself is made of laminated apitong and is very robust. I fabricated a simple cover for the motor well, so that water doesn't slop in if you're not using an engine. Note that like many of Bolger's sailboats, this schooner has NO standing rigging. Once I got the hang of it, I could go from arriving at the ramp to sailing in under 45 minutes. And setting up a boat like this is part of the zen-fun of the thing. The boat includes wood brackets to hold masts and rigging inboard for trailering. The retractable daggerboard can be lifted part-way for downwind work (to lessen the chance of a broach), or all the way to beach the boat. The board has about 20 lbs of lead-shot in the bottom, which gives her a bit more stability for windward work. She still needs her crew to keep her right-side up in a breeze of wind, but is perfectly docile in lighter airs with just two aboard. I even single-handed her a few times in light-airs, with the mainsail reefed, and with two people and reefed main she's good in a breeze up to 15 knots, with care. The trailer was custom-made for the boat by Trailex of Canfield of Ohio to a superb quality standard. The trailer is made of extruded aluminum sections bolted together, and any part of it can be easily replaced. The trailer shows some wear and light oxidation from weather and years but everything still works fine, EXCEPT for the lights, which should be completely re-wired, and probably replaced. The buy-it-now price is quite reasonable. The trailer, sails, and all other materials and hardware in a big pile in your driveway would cost much more than my price. If you had her built today to an appropriate level of finish and quality by a skilled builder who understands this kind of thing, you'd easily spend $15-20K. Or more. See "Condition" note above for more details. Please ask any and all questions before purchase. I have described the boat as accurately as possible. I don't want any surprises for the buyer. I would really like to sell the boat to someone who will cherish her, as I did for many years. She needs a bit of TLC right now, but not all that much to go sailing!

ASKING PRICE NOW REDUCED BY $20,000!! UPDATE: After having been inspected by mechanic and me from stem to stern, we put her in the water on the 24th of April, and brought her the 20nm to Lake Macatawa that weekend. She is now in our slip in Holland, Michigan. In preparation for this season, she received a new coat of ablative bottom paint, new skirting around the aft deck and fly deck, and a host of little projects to keep her as pretty as possible (polished the solid surface counter tops, additional coats of floor finish in the galley/salon, new window treatments in galley/salon, etc... stuff that really wasn't necessary, but I'm kind of picky). As planned, she is tight and sound. Her bilge runs maybe once a day for about 5 seconds, which is beautiful for a classic wooden motoryacht of her size. Offered for sale is our family's pride and joy, the Four Saturdays (the name is derived from our last name, which means Saturday in Polish, and our family of Four). I have spent 2010-2012 (losing count after 3000 man hours) completely restoring this classic. Pacemakers were handmade in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, until the company was purchase by Chris Craft. This motor yacht was brought to the Great Lakes thru the Erie Canal in 1966 to Minnesota, via the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. She spent most of her life there, until I purchased and brought her back 1100 nautical miles to Lake Michigan. It is what I describe as a "restomod"... I've kept the classic lines of the vessel, but have improved most aspects of it for useability, longevity, and style in the modern world. Listed below will be a long, boring list of all of the work done, but, in a nutshell, the result is a very unique vessel that my family of four has enjoyed as a liveaboard for the last three summers. Because of this restoration, she is ready to last another 47 years. Four Saturdays garners a lot of attention as we cruise the waters around Holland, Michigan, and is reliable as the day is long. She's got a displacement hull, so she's not fast, but she'll run all week at 9-11 knots. The Detroit Diesels mated to Twin Disc transmissions start immediately, run flawlessly, and have only 2300 hours from NEW. Ask any diesel mechanic, and they will confirm that these motors are practically just broken in. The hull is tight and solid, and runs a bilge pump maybe 2 gallons an hour. We live on an end slip on Lake Macatawa, and it's the best lakefront property you'll ever get to enjoy. We had dreamed of moving somewhere warm and living on her year round, which would have been awesome. Unfortunately, we have decided to sell Four Saturdays to pursue some other opportunities. I may consider very compelling partial trades for automobiles or a 26-30' center console fishing boat. A vessel of this size can only be transported via waterway or ship transporter, so please consider this when bidding/buying. I may consider assisting in the transport of her to your desired destination (at additional cost). Notes: A. As some provenance, I have the original build file from Pacemaker that was obtained when the original offices were torn down. As some points of reference, in 1966 the average cost of new house was $14,200.00, average income per year was $6,900.00, and the average cost of a new car was $2,650.00. The price paid for this Pacemaker in 1966 was $79,751.75. In today's dollars, that's $573,693.23. B. I also have countless photos of the entire project stage, including the photos of the 2004/5 $200,000 hull restoration completed by a previous owner. Many of these photos are included in a professionally bound photo book. C. Many ask about maintenance. I was blessed with the time to do this project in a relatively short span of time, but involving thousands of man hours. Most cannot buy out the time to do so. Now that the vessel was stripped bare and completely built back up with longevity in mind, it's just a matter of keeping things that way, which is just like any other home, cottage, or asset. Normally I would agree with those who say NOT to buy a wooden boat... except for the Four Saturdays, because the hard work has all been done. I am in no way saying that she is perfect, but if you want perfect, buy a new plastic boat... costing hundreds of thousands of dollars (maybe millions) more, and nowhere near the uniqueness and character of a classic vessel. Below are the details of this vessel. We thank you for looking at her, and if you are a serious potential buyer and have questions or a request to see her in person, feel free to email me through eBay, or call me at two six nine five zero one three two three two. Obviously, we are selling her with no warranties, expressed or implied, but I have attempted to describe her as completely and honestly as possible. We do have the vessel for sale locally, so we reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Q: Your boat is beautiful! Job very well done! Do you know height of boat from waterline? What is your fuel burn/hr at cruising speed? Range? Boat sleeps? # staterooms, heads, showers? I see you use portable ac units. Are they effective? Do you have any heat source on board? How is boat stored in winter? Draft of boat? Thanks Feb-14-14 A: rob157, Thanks for your comment. We have truly enjoyed our time with her. To answer your questions: A. I have not measured lately the height above the waterline, but I believe it is about 20'. I know that without the lite mast, we navigated under the one bridge on the Illinois Riv. that is fixed at 17'. Sorry for the ambiguity, but since restoring, we have been in waters that are not inhibited by bridges. If you would like a more accurate measurement, please let me know. B. We normally cruise at hull speed, around 9.5-10 knots. My estimated fuel burn per hour is 8-10 GPH. It certainly varies by itinerary. Traveling S from Minnesota via the Mississippi, we cruised at 11 knots at 1.6 mpg. Obviously, because she is a displacement hull, she is never going to be fast, but she runs 5 knots at idle and will run all week at 8-12 knots. She has two 300 gal. rear tanks, fabricated new in 2005, and 2 auxiliary 100 gal. tanks in the engine room, 800 gals total. C. Boat sleeps 6-8. 3 staterooms: 1 master w/queen bed, stateroom 2 w/bunk beds, forward stateroom w/full size bed, and couch in salon that folds to full size bed. Two larger heads: master and main head with enlarged shower. Redesigned from original configuration. Also exterior H/C shower that we use a lot on the enlarged teak swim platform. D. Yes, we use portable A/C units, 2 12000 BTU models, as well as a new low profile 15000 BTU roof unit in the pilothouse, and they work very well. The original A/C was just too inefficient and unreliable. We purchased the portable units as a stopgap measure until we could afford a new bank of conventional marine A/Cs, but they worked so nicely we decided to keep them for the time being. We rarely need any heat source, but when necessary, we have a couple small portable electric heaters. E. Boat is stored outside on the hard in the winter. Firstly, due to my belief that the wood likes it better, and second, due to cost. F. I believe official draft is 3'8". Thanks.

Miami International Boat Show with Bobby Unser February introduced 46 Cougar raceboat. Steve was a late driver change and replaced Dave Bell who had undergone open heart surgery the previous day. They were also on board when the Sun Coast to Gold Coast record (originally established by Kyle Petty) was broken in 1998. That record would be a precursor to the Miami to Nassau to Miami record run which is documented in this video.    On Monday morning June 15 1998 the crew of Harry Allen throttle man Steve Kildahl driver Kevin Brown navigator and Rich Quandt crew chief left the Marriot Miami Marina and headed out Government Cut (MacArthur Causeway) to set three new American Power Boat Association world records. Dave Bell Great Lakes Executive Vice President was in the drivers seat with Harry at the throttles Rich Quandt crew chief and navigator and Eric Lavine as the onboard technician.    Bob Hallengren of Caterpillar and Bobby Chan of Ringhaver provided valuable assistance in preparing standard production engines for their extended duty. 1998 Spirit of America set 2 world records Tampa to Miami and Miami-Nassau-Miami in May and June. John Cosker Conner Marine and John Pompi Marine Performance were also key participants in the vessel design construction and upfit.    the Spirit of America project was a culmination of Harry’s long time interest in offshore power boat racing which started with Cummin’s Engine Company in 1965 along with his dream of piloting the fastest boat from Miami to Nassau and back. The Mirage Cruise 8522 LZ at 23’10” long on a full 8’6” beam is the second largest in this series and offers basic but very comfortable cruising amenities and is rated for a maximum carrying capacity of twelve persons or 2200 pounds. As with all Sylvan pontoon boats, it is constructed, in Sylvan’s words, with “Exclusive Cross Channel Construction features heavy-duty hat channels double through-bolted to the deck risers. Deck and Floor features 3/4" 7-ply pressure-treated plywood through-bolted and screwed to the hat channels. Lifetime limited warranty. Spacers between the fence bottom and the deck allow water to drain easily and cut drying time in half. Fencing is foam-backed to prevent rattling and reinforced for added strength. Gate construction offers the safety of pinch-proof protectors and Posi-Lock® latches. Stainless steel safety rails are used exclusively for increased strength and reliability. Powder coated railings provide a clean look and feel.” This particular model comes standard with two, .080” gauge round pontoon “tubes.” Depending upon your cruising needs in terms of normal loading capacity, rough water boating, or speed requirements for watersports, etc, you may wish to upgrade to a third centre tube, add lifting strakes to those tubes, or go all the way with Sylvan’s Revolutionary Planing Technology (RPT) tube design with Vshaped tubes which, in Sylvan’s words, provide “increased top speed per horsepower and dramatically improved fuel efficiency.” The addition of a third tube raises the maximum horsepower rating from 150 to 200. As with all Sylvan, Starcraft, and Smoker Craft boats in the family, its boats come with a limited lifetime warranty on hull and structure plus a 6-year warranty on all components, carpet, upholstery, and electronics. All parts and labour are included in this warranty and it is transferrable to a second owner. Sylvan refers to this particular model as a “Sunbathers Delight.” “Lounge your days away on the water in the Mirage Cruise 8522 LZ. You and your friends can enjoy those days under the sun relaxing in one of four beautiful premium loungers or jump on out and use the convenient rear entry ladder to enjoy your favorite sports on the water.” And let there be no doubt that virtually every bit of floor space is dedicated to seating. It has two facing loungers in the bow section, a complete wrap-around U-shaped lounge in the stern section with a removable centre section to accommodate a centre rear gate leading to the aft deck. Amidships are the starboard side driver’s consoles and swivel helm chair with slider and armrests and a similar passenger chair opposite on the port side immediately behind the side entry gate. A bow entry gate separates the two bow lounges. The beauty of this Mirage Cruise 8522 LZ is that it comes equipped with the basic standard necessities, but you can then option it up to your heart’s content with only those particular items you want from a very long and complete list of possibilities. Let’s explore that list. On the floor, 22-oz. sculptured carpet is standard or you can opt for 28-oz. carpet or vinyl flooring with or without snap-in carpet. A custom molded helm console with windscreen and basic gauges are standard and you can add a full complement of gauges such as speedometer, volt meter, trim, depth gauges and hydraulic steering too. Stereo and docking lights are standard and add underwater, under deck, and floor lighting. A change room is standard and add the porta potti. Tables with two floor bases are standard; add a second table and floor base. Bimini tops are standard and add a full complement of canvas options. Rear entry boarding ladders is standard, but choose to add a swim platform or you may even choose a The Sylvan Mirage 8522 comes in two different versions, with only slight changes to the layout differentiating between the CR and LZ versions. Our time onboard the LZ version showed her to be a comfortable boat in brisk chop and forgiving in sloppy conditions generated by 20 mph winds. It is not often we test boats in winds that high but with her Revolutionary Planing Technology (RPT) tubes we stayed comfortable and dry at speed.Key FeaturesCustom molded consoleFuel gaugeTachometerWindscreenAll aluminum transom with lifetime warranty22 oz sculptured carpet3/4" plywood deck with lifetime warrantyHelm chair with swivel, slide and armrestsLounge arm change roomAM/FM stereo with auxiliary port for MP3 player8'6'' Bimini topSpecificationsSylvan Mirage 8522 LZ (2013-) SpecificationsLength Overall23' 10'' 7.26 mDry Weight2,295 lbs. 1,041 kgBeam8' 6'' 2.59 mTested WeightN/ADraftN/AFuel Cap30 gal. 114 LDeadrise/TransomN/AWater CapnoneMax HeadroomopenBridge ClearanceN/APrices, features, designs, and equipment are subject to change. Steve-- Mission Statement The mission of the Sylvan Mirage 8522 LZ is to provide a comfortable and luxurious pontoon boat at a cost-efficient price point. She's offered in two versions, with slight modifications to the seating layout differentiating between the two. With her RPT toon design she gets on plane fast which should appeal to watersports enthusiasts. The Sylvan Mirage 8522 LZ. The Sylvan Mirage is an open and inviting boat with a comfortable layout. Distinguishing Features • Four Admiral’s Chairs. These chairs are as comfortable as can be because they swivel and even recline. The armrests are self leveling. Some boats have one or two, but we rarely see four. • Painted Fencing. We typically see panels that are fixed with decals to add highlights. These are actually painted and offered in a choice of four colors. • All Aluminum Transom. This is a departure from the extended pressure-treated wood platforms, mostly covered in carpet, that we normally see. • Standard Docking Lights. There are few things in boating more restful than a sunset cruise on an inland lake in the summer. And its nice to see the approaching dock when coming home. • RPT Tubes. Sylvan calls this Revolutionary Planing Technology and it not only offers quicker times to plane, but the Mirage gets up on plane from a level attitude. The tubes also have a 20-degree deadrise to a hard chine on both sides of the toon, much like a deep-V monohull or the pontoons on a sea planes, which usually have a 24-degree deadrise. • 6-Year Warranty. Sylvan offers a 6-year warranty on all components from stem to stern. Its toons and marine plywood deck are warranted for a lifetime and are transferrable to a second owner, according to the company. Even on our choppy test day, the Mirage manages to keep the spray down low providing a dry ride. Tube Construction Pontoon construction is moving more and more into an advanced area providing boats with more sportboat-like characteristics. The design team at Sylvan call their design RPT for Revolutionary Planing Technology and they seem to have an interesting, and effective take on how it's done. The tubes are 25” (63.5 cm) across with flat sides. The bottom takes on the contour of a V-hull sportboat with flat chines and, what could accurately be described as a 20-degree deadrise bottom. There's even a keel at the bottom to aid in tracking. The bottoms of the tubes are reminiscent of a V-hull boat, complete with chines and keel. The engine mounting pod is even more characteristic of a boat hull with a vertical stem and sharp entry and a bottom that gets lower as the design moves aft. There are even two planing fins with beveled outer edges mounted to the sides. Lifting strakes are added to the front of the tubes. The pod unit that the engine is mounted to has a descending keel, lifting wings and a sharp entry. There is nothing on the market quite like it. The tubes are two piece with a single seam down the center. Tubes are mounted to the deck with “M” brackets for solid support. The corners of the deck are protected with a stainless guard to absorb impact against the dock. Each has non-skid for boarding as well. Performance The Sylvan Mirage 8522 LZ has a LOA of 23'10" (7.26 m) and a beam of 8'6" (2.59 m). With an empty weight of 2,295 lbs.(1,041 kg), 30 gallons (113.6 L) of fuel, two people and test power on board we had a test weight of 3,313 lbs. (1,503 kg). With a 150-hp Evinrude E-TEC turning a 15 5/8 x 13" SSP prop we reached a top speed of 5650 rpm of 34.9 mph. At that speed fuel burn was 15.7 gph giving us a range of 60 miles. She doesn't really have a best planing speed so users can determine for themselves whether they want to go far or fast. With that said, I found her to be most comfortable at 3500 rpm and 20.5 mph. That produced a fuel burn of 6.3 gph which the Sylvan Mirage could keep up for 4 hours and 18 min. and 88 miles. Hole-Shot Wizard. Thanks to the RPT tubes and her 2-stroke Evinrude E-TEC power we reached planing speed in only 2.6 seconds, accelerated through 20 mph in 3.4 seconds and 30 mph in 6.2 seconds. These are remarkable times for what is essentially a twin-toon boat. Handling The 8522 LZ seems to come up on plane from a level attitude thanks to the wings mounted from the sides of the extended engine pod. Engine trim seems to have little to no effect as I noticed no difference in the spray coming from the sides of the boat or in the speed as we cruised along the lake. We put her through a fairly punishing test amid chop generated by 20 mile-an-hour winds. Testing in these kinds of conditions can bring out the worst in a pontoon boat. They can hobby horse or drench the passengers aboard. Happily, the Mirage 8522 performed well. The ride was surprisingly dry and while we did experience some hard bumps, it was nothing more than what was to be expected when running nearly 35 mph into consecutive speed bumps in the face of 20-mph winds. (The apparent wind was 55 mph.) With the two tubes being spaced well apart, I did notice some flexing of the foredeck, but again nothing more than expected on a twin-tube design. When turning I noticed that she tends to lean to the outside of the turns roughly 4 ½- degrees. This is the nature of virtually all twin-toon pontoon boats, and the Mirage 8522 LZ is no exception. FYI -- catamaran powerboats do the same thing, and it is just the nature of the design. The Comfort Factor. As noted above, the RPT hulls are not round, but rather have a 20-degree deadrise. Just as in monohulls, where a 20 to 24-degree deadrise is molded into the bottom to make the boat more comfortable at high speed in a wicked chop, so, too, does the Mirage 8522 LZ have a 20-degree deadrise in each of its toons for the same reason. And while I have no gauge to measure it, the seat of pants tells me that this boat was more comfortable barreling through the chop than conventional twin toons. For years we have tried getting video on all sorts of boats in choppy conditions, but the camera is all over the place and no one could watch the video, nor would it mean anything. That's why we shoot in flat water, as we did for this test in the lee of a peninsula. When it comes to ride, readers will just have to take my word for it. While this may look like a turn to starboard it is actually a turn to port and it shows how the Sylvan Mirage has a slight lean to the outboard side of the turn. This is something virtually all twin toons do. Here’s another view of the outboard turning characteristic. This was shot during a turn to starboard. Features Walkthrough Forward Deck A boarding gate at the bow leads to roomy bow seating that features three admiral’s chairs to the port side and a wraparound lounge to the starboard side just ahead of the helm. One of the two pedestal bases for the single standard pedestal table is mounted in the center of the foredeck. All seating is as comfortable as I've ever felt on any pontoon boat and the admiral’s chairs swivel and recline. An insulated cooler with drink holders lies between the two forward seats. It’s hard to picture a more welcoming gathering area in the bow of the Sylvan Mirage. Stainless steel speaker grills and drink holders are nestled into the seatback. Storage is under the seats and under the chaise seatback ensuring that all usable space has a purpose. Helm The helm of the Sylvan Mirage is an excellent example of elegant simplicity. The console is a beige tone to reduce glare and faux wood panels are recessed into tan vinyl. White-faced gauges with chrome bezels are to either side of the leather wrapped three-spoke wheel. A door to the side of the helm console allows access to the storage beneath. Directly across the helm is a portside boarding gate. The helm is in close proximity to both the fore and aft gathering areas keeping the captain in the center of the conversation. The faux wood panels have a classy look and white gauges with chrome bezels provide an eye-catching contrast. Always with pontoon boats the control is at nearly a 45-degree angle... even here, when a separate mounting point is molded into the console. The lower panel curves around the inside of the console and Sylvan created an MP3 holder next to the jack and 12V power outlet. Stern The stern of our test boat featured wraparound seating with three of the seats having drink holders embedded into the seatbacks. The seats to both sides also had stainless steel grilles mounted to the speakers. The forward ends of the seats are 2’ 4 ½” (.71m) across and the seats themselves are 3'5" (1.05 m) across. The corner seats had a battery to one side and a steering pump underneath the cushion to the other side. The remaining seats all have the usual accommodations for storage underneath. Yet another admiral’s chair lies across from the helm allowing the same vantage point that the captain enjoys. The center stern seat is removable allowing access to the aft boarding gate. Notice the optional teak-grain vinyl decking. The reboarding ladder is to starboard and the hinge point is nearly at the water level. The center-aft seat is removable allowing access to the stern gate and the swim platform. The seat can also be relocated to the bow to increase the seating in that area. The swim platform on our test boat was covered with the optional teak grain vinyl flooring. A reboarding ladder was secured to the starboard side but with its hinge point being so low to the water I found it difficult to retract from the deployed position. The Bimini support is made from BB square channel and the all-around nav light is mounted to the top. Observations My overall impression of the Sylvan Mirage is that she presents a very comfortable and functional entertaining platform with versatile seating that is among the most comfortable on any pontoon boat I have ever tested. By putting four admiral's seats on the Mirage 8522, everyone can be a grand pooh bah at least for some of the cruise. Don't snicker -- it's a great feeling and guests will love it. Her handling characteristics and hole shot times also make her an excellent watersports platform so feel free to bring the kids along on the next waterborne adventure. With a time to plane even oldsters will be able to get up on skis without much trouble. And that, together with her comfortable ride are this boat's strong suits. For those looking for even faster WOT speeds we suggest consideration of one of Sylvan's tri-toon hulls. Tri-toons are generally faster than twin toons. The Mirage 8522 is somewhat in the middle because of its centerline RPT engine pod that undoubtedly aids her time to plane and top speed of 34.9 mph top speed. Fully loaded think six-pac, commercial fishing, towing, salvage, crabber, patrol, light boat. Was originally a navy personnel launch 2 plus 20 so one could get COI for 20 passengers. Would make a great personnel launch, commercial fishing boat or super duty sport personal fishing boat. I have a survey valuing it at 55k. It has been just painted and the bottom has been surveyed and painted 2013. I have used it in 50 knot gales with no problems. Over $18,000 put into boat plus tons of free labor. It started life as a full fiberglass ski boat. The entire boat has been totally rebuilt with new or rebuilt parts. It is now a fiberglass hull with a Brazilian Mahogany Wood Deck that looks awesome and is very strong. It is very quick out of the hole and gets to the top speed of 50 mph very fast. The trim tabs allow you to smooth out the bounce you would typically get on this type of Ski Boat Hull and Drive. It sounds very nice around the lake with the V8 and Straight out the Transom Exhaust. Sounds like a Hot Rod.. The Motor is a 1968 Ford 302 V8 with Interceptor exhaust manifolds. completely Rebuilt & Balanced All Felpro Gaskets and new Arp Fasteners. The block and rolling assembly was Line Bored, New Cam Bearings, bored 30 over, Steel crank has been machined 10 under with all new bearings, rods, pistons & rings professionally built with less than 30 hours on it. New polished Alternator. Washable K&N Air Filter, New Mallory Distributer and electronic ignition was installed for reliability.. ETC everything was rebuilt or replaced. It runs and sounds sweet. The Velet Drive was completely rebuilt and re-sealed as well as water pickup pump. A new 13/13 Brass Prop was installed. New Cables. The hull was completely stripped and the deck cut off. The Hull was then fitted with a custom Deck that is all hardwood stating with the bow stringers. Once the deck was reformed a layer of 3/16” Birch Marine Plywood was layered over the top. Then it was layered with Brazilian Mahogany ¼” thick planks and sanded and finished to perfection with nine coats of Clear. It has been designed as an old wood Rum Runner Style with a rear cockpit. The helm was completely customized with hardwood dash, new gauges, new steering wheel and all new wiring throughout. A custom Windshield was fabricated and installed. The glass hull was gel coated Black and cleared. All Stainless Steel Fasteners were used throughout the craft. There is one small scratch on side of hull at waterline about 2.5 inches long where a ski hit the side of the boat. I touched it up but it is noticeable upon close inspection. There are a couple small scratches in the deck and hull that were touched up due to their small size. The boat is used but in Great shape and get a ton of attention where ever it goes. This boat was completed Late July 2012 and was only used a few times. I burnt 1 tank of Fuel breaking it in the 2-2.5 more tanks skiing, tubing and cruising over the last couple seasons.. It is still like new with very little signs of wear. It includes a custom trailer that has had the tongue shortened for easy storage and loading hauls very nice and smooth at 70 mph. The trailer has been primed & painted Black with a silver stripe and wood runners for steps to board the craft on the trailer. I have made a fitting that will sandwich between the trailer and the Hull and allow you to hook up a hose and run the motor for maintenance and Winterization on the trailer. The trailer shows very little signs of wear with new paint, tires. Bearings, hitch and less than 300 miles since restoring it. The entire front section under the deck is carpeted and a hatch was installed for easy access to large Cuddy Cabin / Storage Area. Under the cuddy the front engine access snaps right off. The Sides and front cover can be removed easily for 360 degree full access to perform maintenance. Petcock were put in Exhaust manifolds and block for easy winterization. Fuel shut off and battery shutoffs were installed in the drivers cockpit. All fuses are located under dash for easy access. The boat was constructed using the Gentleman's Racer Plans. All systems are clean and finished with easy access to all controls, plugs and shutoffs. It was built and designed for ease of use and maintenance. The cockpit is user friendly with new gauges for Temp, Oil, Volts, Fuel and a GPS Speedometer was installed as well as new trim tab controls the will smooth out the bow at high speeds and allow for fast plaining. They are electric Planer Boards mounted on the transom. Basically this boat is brand new with less than 30 Hours on it. It shows very well and get a ton of attention where ever it goes. The 2nd oil change was just performed; I am using Valvoline VR1 10w-30 for the zinc. I also just pulled the valve Covers and inspected the top end as well as make some adjustments to the rocker arms. This boat is from my private collection of classic boats and cars. I invite you to come see and inspect this craft. You will not be disappointed. I can send specific photos for potential buyers. A complete build Book / CD of photos will be given to buyer I have described this boat to the best of my ability and knowledge. It is for sale as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. I will aid in loading for Shipment to wherever you are. At Buyer Expense Signs of wear include: a Small Scratch in lower part of hull about 3 inches long that was touched up, Some light Surface scratches in the Clear on the Deck, will buff out, some fine scratches in the Windshield Glass *** CALL 248-760-0752 Thanks for looking... The Tiara 3100 Open is one of those exceptional boats whose enduring popularity make her a classic design in every sense of the word. (Indeed, she remained pretty much unchanged from her 1979 introduction until replaced in the Tiara fleet with a new 3100 Open model in 1992.) Aside from her quality construction and sporty profile, the appeal of the 3100 has much to do with her large fishing cockpit and comfortable, teak-trimmed interior with well appointed salon, galley and large fwd. berth. Lots of builders talk about versatility in a particular model, but few boats can really walk the walk. The 3100 does: With the outriggers, fish box and a Live bait well, she's a serious tournament-level fishing machine. For those into cruising than fishing, CD player, radar, swim platform and extra cockpit seating will turn the 3100 into an extremely capable family express with the ability to handle most open-water conditions. Notable features include a full stand up head with shower, wide side decks, bow pulpit, good engine access, 200 gallons fuel and excellent nonskid. Standard Twin 350's gas FWC inboards and readily cruises in the low 20s and reach a top speed of 28-30 knots. A SUPER FIND AT A SUPER PRICE!
