The water heater is brand new and just replaced in September 2022. There are numerous areas when the brightwork needs to be sanded to bare wood and refinished. 1960 Defever 47 Trawler One can tell from the equipment list and the photos that though this boat is 55 years old it has had continued care and upgrades since the day it was launched. The seller has owned Pau Hana ll for the past 30 years, has cruised offshore extensively from Mexico to Alaska and he is only the second owner. These Defever designs are born from the needs of the Pacific Tuna fleets of southern California. They needed to provide safe, economical voyages of long duration in all kinds of weather. What developed has become the design standard of the modern day pleasure trawler. Defever and Lindwall worked together and in the 1960's built 10 offshore trawlers from 40' to 58', Pau Hana ll is one of them. On board is a note book of photos from the original building. We purchased this beautiful 1984 DeFever trawler in April 2012 from her previous owners who were cruising her in the Bahamas, and had been yearly for the past ten years. Although I had sailing experience, neither my wife or I had experience with power boating. However, we spent the next several weeks bringing her up the ICW to her new home in Virginia. During the summer we had a new Genset installed, moved the fuel filters for easier access, added a battery watering system, added a new dinghy and davit system, replaced her saloon counter tops, and learned as much as we could about her. In December my wife and I took her back down the ICW; crossing Florida thru Lake Okeechobee, its waterway and locks; and then finally resting in Ft. Myers Beach for a couple of relaxing weeks with friends. We continued down Florida's Gulf of Mexico coastline to the Keys, stopping and spending the winter on a mooring in Marathon, Fl.
