This vessel is designed for ocean duty! Built in the traditional Naval resorcinol process, her 108' wooden hull is 2 1/4" thick, comprised of Douglass fir planks over Alaskan cedar and tied together with laminated white oak beams. I fell in love the first time I stood up in the v-berth bilge, and I still love this boat! The details are available on the Internet, just google search for "yp685 wiki" to discover specifications and lots of photos of this vessel and her sister ships which are still active at the United States Naval Academy. I hired a Detroit Diesel expert out of retirement and we started on the starboard engine as the port engine was missing the starter. I purchased AGM batteries and the engine fired on residual fuel the first time we spun it! The left cylinder head was partially removed so we removed it for inspection then reinstalled it, that's when I ran out of money (May 2014). I sourced the missing port and starboard engine parts but don't have funds to buy them. This can be an operational vessel with as little as $25k invested in parts and labor to address the issues identified in the survey (June 2014). I was able to finish the white paint job and seal the rain leaks, and install high-capacity bilge pumps in four of the nine water tight compartments, but I am out of time and money, and I have too many boats so I have decided to sell this one. I towed it to its current location in Solomons Maryland, and it is tow-able to your location if you desire to move it. The current slip location is excellent, and paid through June 2015, however you will need insurance coverage to stay. We can schedule inspections anytime, but I recommend day time visits, just call 205-540-6952 to schedule the visit with me, otherwise please do not board the vessel, the cameras and security system is armed, local law enforcement officers regularly patrol the area, (and I prosecute trespassers). I will deliver a hard copy of the recent survey when we meet, please do not ask me to email it to you. Vessel is suitable for towing, buyers are responsible for towing, once is enough for me with this huge boat, vessel is sold as is where is. I did not take all of the photos in the ad. Buyers are responsible to determine vessel suitability for their particular application with regard to EPA requirements and Maritime import laws, where applicable, as we can offer no counsel or advice on the subject. By placing a bid on this auction you are entering into a contract with the seller and agree to the terms of sale listed in this auction. Seller expressly disclaims all warranties, either express or implied; including any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and neither assumes nor authorizes any person to act for it regarding any liability in connection with the sale of the vessel. Any controversy or claim arising out of or related to the placement and/or acceptance of a bid and/or the purchase and sale of the vessel on which the bid is placed shall be governed by Maryland law and the buyer and seller agree to arbitration process in accordance with the rules of commercial arbitration of the American Arbitration Association in front of three arbitrators. One selected by the seller, one by the buyer and one by the two selected arbitrators sitting in judgment. Any court having jurisdiction may enter judgment upon the award rendered by the Arbitrator. Seller reserves the right to cancel the sale if, in seller's sole opinion, the buyer is unreasonable or abusive. Seller will warn buyer only once that their behavior, actions or positions are perceived by seller to be unreasonable or abusive prior to canceling the transaction. If seller cancels the transaction due to buyer being unreasonable or abusive seller will retain deposit or payment made by buyer but no other costs incurred by buyer of any kind. Vessel registration is the buyer's responsibility. If you do not accept all of the above conditions and rules then do not bid on this auction.

I am putting my boat up for sale to put the money towards house. I really don't want to sell it, so I reserve the right to change my mind at any point in time. The boat is in seaworthy condition, it is actually in the water right now. The engines are 8.2 liter detroit diesel engines which have 1500 original hours on them. These engines did have a small issue and they were "known" for a headgasket issue. This boat had that issue corrected early in its life with the popular fix and now these engines have only one small issue:One motor starts to blow a little smoke in boost so I think a turbo needs to be rebuilt on one of the engines. The turbo is not difficult to access and I would have already had it rebuilt, but I am fine with going 11 knots, no need to go too fast with this boat. The boat is very big, a lot of room. Boat's options:-outrigger holders -trim tabls-Hydraulic steering-Motor controlled spot light-bathroom with shower and macerator-kitchen-AC unit (doesn't work)-Hot water heater (doesn't work)-40 gallon water holding tank-Garmin 3010c Fishfinder GPS unit with thru-hull transducer and 4kw radar on the top-generator (not working) The boat slip is included until the first of the year and winter storage is also included at no extra charge. Since I have owned the boat I have done the following:-The fuel tank was replaced with 2 fuel tanks 75 gallons each so the boat holds 150 gallons of fuel. This included some fiberglass work on the deck-The back deck could use a little more fiberglass work, to get it looking 100%, but it works fine the way it is.-Replaced the steering helm-Replaced all the batteries-Replaced 2 bilge pumps and hosing-replaced one jabsco fresh water pump with impeller-replaced the top with new sunbrella, replaced some of the eisenglass If you want to bring the boat back to perfect condition, it would need some attention on the following-eisenglass replaced in some places-hot water heater-Generator needs repair (I think it just needs a starter but I am not sure)-fiberglass work done on the Deck of the boat- I would personally update the fish finder at some point with a newer one-take the turbo off and have it rebuilt-You could also install a second fuel gauge for the second gas tank or even put a larger single tank back in if you would prefer to do that. The boat is loaded up with many options, a few things don't work; most do work and the boat still has a lot of life left in it. The book value in good condition with everything working would be around 29,000 on a boat like this according to NADA.I have taken everything that the boat would need to get it 100% and subtracted that from the total book value to come up with a reasonable price for the vessel. Give me a text and schedule an inspection and sea trial. Maybe we will catch some fish on the way! 201 618 3568
