Every effort has been made to accurately describe this vessel. However, it is a 44 year old sailing vessel and your buying decision should be solely based on your own experience and expertise or that of a qualified marine surveyor. Stock #307204 Most of the Work Is Done!! Lots of Upgrades and Improvements!! Tune the Rigging and Sail Away!! Are you looking for a spacious liveaboard that can easily sleep 5-6 people comfortably? This 1980 Formosa Spindrift 44 is your answer. The current owner searched for over three years to find this specific make/model. Since owning it he has worked tirelessly 6 years to restore and upgrade her. Unfortunately, although much of the work is done, his health prevents him from finishing the task. She is cutter rigged with the furling forestay on the bowsprit and a staysail boom. The sail inventory includes a mainsail and roller furling jib that has not been used since they came out of the sail shop after being restitched/reconditioned. There is also a hank on staysail that appears to be in serviceable condition. Having the standing rigging checked and R&Rd by a certified rigger is still on the "To Do" list. All the running rigging is new, with the exception of a couple of lines, and the new line is on a spool below to complete those. Ground tackle includes a new Vulcan 25KG with 300' of 3/8 BB chain. There is also a 60# CQR with 20' chain and 1" rode (total rode unknown). There is a Maxwell horizontal windlass with chain gypsy and rode drum. Electric power, in addition to shore power, is provided by two (2) Solarever Photovoltaic 315W panels flowing through an Outback Flexmax controller and feeding four (4) 100Ah AGM batteries. Additionally, there are two (2) Duracell SL34 MAGM batteries and two (2) flooded lead acid batteries (motor start). Navigation and communication equipment were all replaced in March of 2021 and all connected via a NEMA 200 backbone. These include Garmin Autopilot, chartplotter, and radar. There is also a Standard Horizon 25W Matrix VHF and a Standard Horizon Eclipse GX1400 VHF. All equipment boxes and documentation are still on board. There is also a Pro Mariner ProSport 12 battery charger and a Schumacher 2000W power converter. When not under sail power is provided by a Ford Lehman 80HP diesel engine pushing a Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmission. With the 300 gal fuel the range of this vessel is significant. The engine has a new water pump, fuel pump, starter, alternator, and damper plate. The heat exchanger and oil cooler have been cleaned and serviced and there is a new fuel polishing system installed. Below the boat is very spacious. The galley has a double well stainless steel sink, a Force 10 stove/oven, and a microwave. The original refrigerator/freezer space is being currently used for storage, although the refrigeration unit is still there, and there is a stand-alone refrigerator and a stand-alone freezer. There is a Dickinson heater (diesel) and a residential window air conditioner that is easily removed. There is space to sleep 5-6, and 2 heads. Currently, the aft head is being used for storage. There is a considerable amount of storage. Outside, the bottom and the hull above the water line were painted about two years ago and are in good condition. The top deck is wide open with wires leading to turn buckles anchored to outward chainplates. The top deck appears to be in good condition with no "soft spots" noted. However, it is due for a paint job and all of the brightwork needs to be oiled. If your looking for a full-time live aboard, or just a comfortable, stable cruiser, this full keel 1980 Formosa Spindrift 44 could be just the boat you're searching for. Living your sailing dreams is in reach. Don't miss this opportunity!! Reason for selling is health issues.

1993 Hunter Passage 42 - PROTEUS Set up for serious off-shore passage making and fully self-sufficient off-the-grid cruising. Has recently (beginning 2014) sailed in England, the coast of Europe and the western Med (2015) and crossed the Atlantic to the Caribbean (Nov 2015). Came up through the Caribbean (spring 2016). This yacht was never chartered, always privately owned, and meticulously cared for. All servicing and installations were done to a high standard. All safety equipment is up-to-date. The yacht participated in the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) which requires a high standard of safety equipment, training, and inspections. The yacht has been certified as a Class-A offshore sailing yacht. All documentation is available and will be conveyed to future owner. The previous owners lived aboard, loved every minute of it, but are now moving back on land for a few years and do not want the boat to sit and atrophy. She needs to go to a good home and to someone who will continue the journey! She has taken care of her owners for years and will continue to do so for many years to come. S/V PROTEUS is "overbuilt" and designed for extended offshore passage-making and off-the-grid cruising. Just want to jump all the way down to the USVI instead of going the super-slow way all the way through the Bahamas? Okay. The previous owners just made a passage from the Dominican Republic straight to Ft.Lauderdale (March 2016). Seven days offshore? No problem. PROTEUS has a thicker hull, reinforced rigging, extra backstay (B&R rigs normally don't have them). Massive solar panels, watermaker, genset, wind generator – all these advanced features make for a yacht that can go anywhere, do anything, and actually be comfortable while doing it. The solar panels were upgraded in 2015, and the owners report that they lived entirely off the solar panels and almost never used the generator while underway. Occasionally, you'll hear people scoff at production yachts for being only for "coastal" cruising. "Oh, I'd never cross an ocean in that!" Not the Passage 42! Did I mention she's cruised in the North Sea and English Channel recently? When there were only aluminum-hull Ovni's and other "extreme" sailboats and expedition yachts at the docks, PROTEUS was right in there with the best of them. All image were made in June 2016 except the two exterior shots, which were made in Spain and Gibraltar in June 2015. More photographs are available on request. Here is an interior walkthrough. Final Thoughts from the Owner:We truly love this boat. Because of our time on PROTEUS, we will never be the same. Everywhere we go and everything we do for the rest of our lives will be colored by our experiences sailing this yacht. And it's not like we're ridiculously rich – we did everything on a modest budget, mostly on savings – but we did it, and you can, too. If you were looking for a chance to cut the lines and live like you always dreamed, PROTEUS could be that chance. It was for us. England, Ireland, Gibraltar, Morocco, half the islands in the Caribbean... it was all in reach, just outside the window. We look back on it now and think: "What on earth did we just do!?!" But we did. PROTEUS took us there. She'll take you there. 1940 Classic Work boat This retired Commercial Tender Ice Breaker/ Decommissioned USCG MLB was custom built in 1940 in Curtis Bay Maryland in a Coast Guard yard. The last survey was completed in 2009 and she meets all specs for commercial work in the state of Michigan. She is 40 feet in length constructed entirely of galvanized steel. The shell plate is thick weighing 14 tons and she has a 10 ton cargo capacity. The bulk heads are 1/8 thick. She has very generous headroom measuring 7 in the engine room, 65 in the wheel house and 62 in the survivors room. Both the wheel house and the survivors rooms are heated. She is powered by a single 1950 4-71 RA Detroit Diesel engine which was been recently rebuilt with approximately 140 hours since the rebuild. The transmission is an Allison 2.05:1 ratio with a 2 shaft and a bronze RH 3 blade prop 24x21 She has manual steering along with an emergency tiller steering. She holds 200 gallons of fuel and burns only 1.5 gallons of fuel while maintaining a cruising speed of 7 knots. The heavy construction of her hull makes maneuvering in icy conditions a possibility. The heavy duty bits and towing package on the bow allows her to be commissioned as a towing vessel. The stern is also adorned with the same heavy towing bits. The amidships boom makes lifting heavy items aboard an easy task. The roomy heated survivors room has three fixed benches and a table which could be converted to drop down into a very large bed. This room also contains a small galley and a large cooler. The heater is a Dickinson Antarctic heater. There are many extras aboard; a total of four bilge pumps, two electric one engine driven and one manual. There are three fire extinguishers throughout the vessel. She is equipped with a distress signal kit and a carbon monoxide alarm. In the engine room you will find duplex sea strainers and duplex racor filters. The Wheel house is furnished with two chairs. The navigational equipment is up to date and adequate; ICOM VHF, Garmin GPS/chart plotter, Ritchie Helmsman compass. On deck there are heavy rails at bow and stern, search lights, tow lights, deck lights, and shore power. You will also find a horn and ships bell located on deck. There are two fenders, lots of extra line, a second compass and a boat hook. She sits well on the large Danforth anchor and rode and is equipped with a drogue as well. As an added bonus included with the sale of this vessel you will receive all the historical documents, pictures and a book which she has 6 or so dedicated pages. She is a one of a kind vessel and a steal at the price of $29,800.00 The owner also would like to offer her cradle as an add on option priced at an additional $400.00These boat details are subject to contract.Note: Offers on the asking price may be considered.

A 1980 Tayana 37 US Coast Guard documented blue water cruiser sailing the North East, Bermuda, and Southern waters. This boat is very clean. The boat is cutter rigged with working jib, a 150 jib, staysail and new main sail. All sails are hank-on. A large well insulated ice box which has a Sea Frost engine driven compressor, however, the compressor needs replacement or a conversion to electric. A Dickinson diesel heater keeps one warm when needed.Original teak decks laid over fiberglass appear sound with no leaks. Chain plates are new with no current leaks. Engine, Yanmar 3QM30, 30 HP, 1745 hours based upon an hour meter installed by the 2nd owner when the engine was overhauled in 1998. Injectors were inspected and rebuilt in 2009. Engine again hauled and inspected with new zinc based paint, engine mounts, engine manifold riser, head, and LPG solenoid in 2010. Recommended up grades by new owner might include a hot water heater, roller furling jib and staysail, and electric refrigeration. The PPS shaft kit should be replaced (new, on board under chart table). Boat on the hard from 2011 to the spring of 2015 spending the summer cruising Maine waters. Easy to show as the boat is in indoor storage. Looking for a new owner who appreciates the soundness of Tayana 37’s and likes working on boats. Lot’s or gear ans spare parts. Would make great boat to start your cruising adventure!

This is a truly unique vessel. She has been fully restored and refitted. Boat is a must see. She comes rigged superior to many boats in her class with; separate spinnaker and jib tracks, retracting spinnaker pole. The running rigging is brought back to the cockpit for easy handling through line clutches and new harken self tailing winches (6 total ST-40s & 60s). These are just a few of the features that make this an awesome vessel. A list of features of the boat is below, also if you have any questions feel free to email me and I will be happy to answer them. More pictures are available. Standing rigging and mast is new to the boat (2010) and engine is new (2011) 28hp Beta (marinized Kubota) The boat was in the water 2.5 years before I had to pull her out and store her on the hard to return to school. I began a process of retrofitting and improving some of her accessories having cruised her to the Chesapeake and back. Upgrades include diesel cabin heater, lengthened and reinforced companionway hatch, smaller engine box, electric anchor windlass. As projects go, one turned into another and I decided to strip the deck (then the hull) to repaint (paint was approaching 10 yrs old). Lots of sanding and fairing and the boat now is primed (545 epoxy primer) and faired smopoth ready for finish coat. Boat comes with a gallon of Awlcraft Royal Blue and Moondust (light beige) for the hull and deck which are the same colors the boat had on it. The boat is COMPLETE with ALL nuts and fasteners all in labeled bags with a diagram. The boat is disassembled and READY FOR PAINT and reassembly. Boat is already primed with Awlgrip 545 and finish sanded. This vessel continues to be a head turner and with a little diligent work will be back in the water by winter. The boat comes with a heavy duty cover in addition to the canopy pictured. These two things make all the difference when working in the Florida heat. Unfortunately my job has taken me to a place where no sailor wishes to go. . . a landlocked city, so the boat cannot accompany me and I am too far away to be able to finish her. As much as I hate to see her go, she has provided me some very fond memories and it's time for her to go to a new home. First $14,000 takes it all (new diesel motor, modern sails & rig, over-sized modern winches and the works) Inquire with questions, more photos available. Added New cockpit diesel tank access. Filtered all diesel fuelAdded new air filter system, New water pump and thermostat. New glow plug for quick starts in cold weather added.Installed air vacuum pump for engine compartment, with switch in sail locker starboard side.Rudder shaft stuffing box freshly repacked.Tai-Pan has a 12" brass prop, which may appear too small for a boat this size, but It pushes Tai-Pan 5.5-6 knots and interferes very little while sailing. Charging SystemsIn 2004 Tai-Pan's electrical charging system was recently rewired by Rasmussen Marine Electric. Inc. for AC and DC charging. This involved installing new Phase Three model PT-14 3 stage smart charger, two battery banks (house and starter), New breaker switch for windlass, charging solinoid, volt and temp guages in cockpit, FWD bilge pump, new ground bar and wiring, with new electric switches charging, outlets, and heating. (Total cost $3,268.24),I later added a third house battery bank and three solar panels (18 w, 23 w, & 48 w) hooked separately to each battery bank w separate battery controllers. Deck:Tai-Pan has a cosmetic teak deck overlaying a solid wood deck, which is covered on both sides with fiberglas. The teak deck is tough as nails and as long as she is well caulked with Boat Life Teak Deck Sealant, her deck should stay high and dry many years to come.Recently added another scupper on both port and starboard side, to aid water drainage. Entire deck appears hard and firm, with no signs of damage to underlayment. Sails: Tai-Pan is a simple mast head sloop with a Hood twin grooved jib roller furling system? The only sails Tai-Pan really needs to go sailing are her main sail, her furling jib. However, because my plans were to circumnavigate on Tai-Pan, I have added much to her sail inventory and her rigging. Her sail inventory now consists of:Two main sails, Two Furling Genoas approximately 150% (One low cut light, and one high cut heavier sail. One Storm sail hanks onto an inner forestay with two running back stays during extreme weather conditions. One Trysail that fits on separate mast track for extreme stormy weather. One large Melges asymmetrical sail with spinnaker sock that fits on removable bow sprit. One small drifter sail (multicolored) that attaches to bow spritOne inner forestay sail w 28' of leach for cruising. One 100% yankee hank on jib sail that fits new solent stay that has not yet been installed, but has all the attachments to do so. Spars: In 2008, I removed the Sitca Spruce mast, rebonded open joints with epoxy, repainted mast, replaced old brass masthead wire sheaves with custom built Acetal (also known as Delrin) sheaves to accommodate two new main and jib halyards of VPC New England rope, which are polyester braid cover with a core of blended Vectran and MFP (polypropylene). I also replaced three old wire rope winches on mast with Barient 22's and one Barient 21. I left on wire mast up haul intact. I also installed one new spinnaker halyard and inner stay halyard of same VPC material. of same material.Tai-Pan still contains her original Sitca spruce furling boom, which would be handy for shortening sail or raising boom to accompany a high bimini.Original Sitca spruce spinnaker pole. Removable Bow Sprit added for flying Asymetrical or Code Zero sails off spinnaker halyard. Two extendable 19' whisker poles for downwind sailing wing-on-wing with two jibs, either both attached to the twin grooved Hood furler, or attached to the new Solent stay, which has yet to be installed. One white 4"x19' extending aluminum whisker pole stored on starboard deck, and one Seldon Sweden built aluminum whisker pole. One Heavy duty spinaker pole track attached to the mast, with pin-style toggle car to fit whisker poleOne aluminum extendable Forespar light air whisker pole 2" x 16.5' that I use for loading dinghy onto foredeck. Rigging: Winches: Two Barient 28 winches, Four Barient 22 winches, Two Barient 22 and one Barient 21 halyard winches on Mast, SS Steering wheel Furler: Hood furling system with twin grooved jib furler for flying double head sails. This twin grooved type of furler also allows sailing with the jib reefed to any position.Shrouds: 5/16" 1/19 SS with 5/8" eyes and six new Sta-lok terminals on bottom endsRecently added inner forestay with two running back stays for storm jib or any other inner foresailCustom Built Heavy Duty SS Mast Stepback stay with insulator for SS Radio antenna, one separate tri-sail track installed on mast, with tri-sailone removable bow sprit for flying asymetrical sail with sockTai-Pan's original chainplates had all been replaced prior to my ownership of Tai-Pan.
