Ok up for sale I am offering this 1947 John Alden 38 Yawl Sailboat We may entertain certain trades for a RV as well or other items of interest Boat is in water at a private slip available to be viewed by appointments You are buying a 69 year old Boat that was well taken care of and is in very nice shape for its ageBoat will need some TLC but nothing major and all mostly cosmetic This boats previous owner owned vessel for 39 years and maintained it very well Boat is 80% original with some upgrades done to it Vessel was brought down from long Island NY about 11 years ago at which time the boat was glassed over Previous owner was a Marina Owner in NY for his entire life and has much experience in doing what he doesMore than 70 gallons of resin were used and boat was wrapped with two layers of cloth down to the boot top. and then 3 layers of 1.1/2 oz mat from there down and wrapping around the bottom of the keel The bottom of Keel has 6 layers and the boat sounds very solid when you tap on itThere are no blisters on hull or signs of de lamination. Boat was hauled and completely stripped and dried well before Glassing over There is lots and lots of character to this magnificent vessel and she gets looks and Awws every where it goes. Boat can use a few cosmetics like Hull and Bottom paint Boat has not been hauled in a five years but has been dived under and cleaned regularly Boat was just dived under a few months ago when we brought it up from KEY West and diver said boat bottom was extremely clean The Masts are due for Varnishing and they can be done on the Boat no need to de mast it if you are not afraid of heights There is a couple of pieces of interior wood that could use replacement bot nothing structural Boat was originally powered by a white flat head gas engine previous owner replaced it with a Mercruiser 140Hp gas engineWe found the engine to have low compression and a Oil Leak so we have just again upgraded and replaced engine Now a Mercruiser 130hp much more modern with under 100 hrs on it and electronic ignition far easier to maintain and get parts for. The top decks have a fresh coat of paint on them and may require another but still look great The exterior wood minus the masts have been varnished the past month with two coats of Captains Varnish and wood looks great We have sealed a couple windows that were leaking including sky light in Head There is a couple of Boards in the head that were rotted and we have removed them dried the area and getting ready to replace. We have replaced the walls in the salon as they are just laminated and were de laminating over years of time. This was done and replaced to look as it did before The main sail was ripped bringing boat up from the Keys its currently out being repaired should have been done a month ago not sure what the deal is with the Sail shop Boat could be driven any where as it is or possibly even sailed the the other two sails till the main is back. The Buy it now price will include the Main fully repaired ready to use or a new replacement. This is a 2004 Sea Boss 210 C Center Console 21 foot fishing boat with a Johnson 150 engine.Have had this boat for about 4 years, and haven't used it as much as we thought, so decided to sell it. We just don't fish much, and I have another boat so time for this one to go.Has really nice T-Top with 6 rod holders, 2 live wells, 2 smaller cooler type storages in the back. Not like most ads that call it custom because they did special stickers, but a true custom designed boat with features not seen elsewhere. ABOUT THIS BOAT: Wooden driftboats are great for fishing because they allow a “perfect drift” fly presentation and do it quietly without the rattle and tinny ding of fiberglass and aluminum. They draw less water than a canoe or other river craft and float right over objects that will hang a canoe or john boat. In high flow conditions the high freeboard and rocker provide a worthy platform for running class IV conditions that swamp even white water canoes. This boat was professionally built in 2001 by a small craft naval architect utilizing yacht grade materials, construction details and finishes. The drawings used were adapted from Don Hill's 16' Standard Driftboat. The boat has floated every Arkansas tail water where trout run, the undammed warm waters of the Buffalo River from Ponca to the White River, the Big Piney Creek including running “The Mother” several times. In addition to being an excellent platform for fly-fishing, the boat is great for quietly enjoying some of the most remote areas during multi-day camping trips. While it has a flat transom that will accept a long shaft outboard motor, the boat has never been under power as her builder strongly believes it can ruin the experience of drifting slowly, taking it all in and really getting to know the river bottom structure and the best holes. In areas where there are more boats, people and houses along the rivers and streams, this boat makes for great conversation and has made many friends. The boat really resonates with the “inner boat geek” of people; this is something you’ll need to be ready for. Finding a riverbank site to overnight is very easy with this boat and invitations to camp on private property are offered without having to ask. Be prepared to answer questions and entertain offers from people to buy the boat or to build one for them. Many ask about maintenance and upkeep of a bright (clear varnished) wooden boat and if it is too much work and cost to maintain. Unlike fiberglass and aluminum, making repairs requires no special tools. The skills to keep it up are easily acquired. All one needs is 220 or greater grit sand paper, a good natural bristle brush, quality marine spar varnish and some mineral spirits to occasionally touch up any worn areas. Depending on use, the finish over time will get scratched and gets worn but all that is necessary to bring it back to showroom condition is a light sanding, remove the dust and re-coat with varnish. The process can be done over a weekend working at a leisurely pace. This boat has undergone that process 3 times in 14 years. Keep in mind that if you want to keep fiberglass and aluminum boats looking nice they too require cleaning and occasional repairs or maintenance and special know-how and tools. 1971 23' Penn Yan Cabin Cruiser and trailer. 3rd owner, have complete history of the boat. Came with a 318 Chrysler engine but has been upgraded to a 440, twin 25 gal. fuel tanks, complete canvas top but the bows were bent from snow. I have nowhere close to have them repaired, but have reduced the asking price to allow for this. All the old bottom paint has been removed and two coats of primer sealer and two coats of new bottom paint applied. Has a Porta Pottie in V-Berth in forward. The deck has been brought up to have an all flat deck in the boat. There's a boarding platform for easy access from the transom. Licenses good through June of this year, both boat and trailer. Tunnel drive is great for shallow waters. Complete owners manual included. Have spent $ 7,500.00 on this Boat and I'm asking $5,000.00. John 509-859-2446
