The owner reports that all systems are working as designed and maintenance is up to date. The boat appeared to be in good overall condition and showed average wear for her age. The owner reports the the VHF are recent additions to the boat. A recent survey found elevated moisture levels in some areas of the deck as well as possible delamination in the bulkhead. A good-size cockpit with a layout convenient for crew or short / single-handed sailing. Room to move about and self tailing winches are well placed and instruments allow you to stay behind the wheel on the raised helm seat. All lines are led aft and through marked clutches to allow sail handling from the cockpit. Roller furling headsail and lazy jacks allow raising and lowering sails from the cockpit as well. Good-sized side decks and double lifelines allow easy movement forward when needed. Comfortable and conventional cabin layout, the easy companionway leads to the salon with the galley to starboard, nav station to port, and a dinette forward. The good-sized galley and loads of storage make the boat a good one for liveaboard or extended stays. Refrigerator and icebox allow on or off-grid use (has some solar panels as well). The Hunter 31 begins with a hull laid up by hand with pre-cut fiberglass to insure consistency. After the hull is cured and thoroughly inspected, we then bond a full length internal frame and stringer system of unidirectional fiberglass directly to the hull to increase its stiffness without adding undue weight. The chainplate is secured to the system and is then brought thru the deck in one clean penetration, creating more interior space and minimizing deck clutter. The load is then distributed to the hull thru the internal frame and stringer system. The structural system allows the Hunter Design Group to obtain the maximum utilization of the interior space below decks. The exterior hull-to-deck joint is engineered to minimize leaks and act as a spray rail. A custom pre-bent toe rail extrusion is thru-bolted providing additional strength and protection.
