1989 Caliber 33 Brokers Comment: "Traveller" has spent her life on the Great Lakes Fresh Water. She has had numerous upgrades. Below is an excerpt from a review by Naval Architect Jack Horner: The method of construction of the Caliber 33/35 is just about as good as can be found on a moderately priced, production fiberglass boat. The hull is constructed of solid fiberglass and resin laminate. There are substantial and closely spaced floors throughout the bilge and unlike many boats in this size and price range, Caliber does not use pre-fabricated fiberglass liners blindly secured in place with adhesive bonding materials. Instead, Caliber secures each bulkhead and joiner component with two to four layers of hand-laid fiberglass cloth and resin. Decks are constructed with plywood, rather than balsa wood, core and the deck-to-hull joint is sealed with a polyurethane adhesive and then bolted thorough an aluminum toe rail every 6" with 1/4" stainless steel carriage bolts. The bolts are fit into square holes in the toe rail so that tightening the nuts will not cause the bolts to turn and break the caulking seal. This creates a strong, solid structure and creaks and groans common to lesser boats when they are stressed are practically nonexistent with the Caliber. Some of the early Caliber 33 models did have some problems with bowsprits that failed under heavy load but this was latter corrected with a beefed-up structure. The accommodations on both the Caliber 33 and 35 are virtually identical. There is a V-berth cabin forward followed by a starboard head with integral shower. The main saloon, with 6' 3" headroom, features a full-length settee/berth along the port side, an L-shaped starboard settee and a table that folds up against the forward bulkhead. There is an efficient U-shaped galley aft to port and a starboard quarter berth cabin/navigation station with a bi-fold partition to close it off from the saloon. Auxiliary power is provided by a Yanmar, model 3GM, marine diesel engine that provides plenty of punch. My sea time on these boats is limited to several sea trials. However, owners I have spoken with are nearly unanimous in their praise of the boat & sailing characteristics. The Caliber 33 and 35 are both excellent choices for bay and coastal cruising and, with proper experience and crew, they are capable of offshore passages. The bottom line is these are well-built boats that offer excellent value and have maintained their resale value well over the years.

2003 Nordic Tugs 37 Broker’s Comment:"Charles A" is a meticulously cared for vessel. Sold new in August of 2004 she has always been used in fresh water of the Great lakes. Her current owner, a former sailor has kept her here in Erie. PA. Recently he and his wife took a trip to the Thousand Islands using the Erie ad Oswego canals and Lake Ontario. Comfortable cruising through scenic New York. I helped her owner refuel and was privileged to pilot her from his Yacht Club to another Marina’s fuel dock. What a great handling vessel. Checking his log, he determined he had averaged 2.8 Gallons per hour fuel consumption. Wow! Additions he has added are new upholstery in the salon and bridge deck, a custom made winter cover, a new water heater and CO2 and smoke alarms. The electronics have had all the recent software upgrades. I have had the pleasure of listing 2 other vessels he has owned including a new 2006 39’ sailboat he purchased though RCR Yachts. Each was kept with loving care and were in “nearly new” condition. The vessel name, “Charles A,” is a reference to family history of river pilots.

1994 Catalina 270 The current owners have enjoyed "Island Girl" for the last 2 years. She was their first boat. Their 2 little girls took to sailing and their growing family was ready for a larger boat. Note the many upgrades done prior to the 2015 launch. Manufacturer Provided Description:The Catalina 270 was designed to provide rewarding performance and comfortable accommodations for the active sailing family. Both goals are accomplished through the selection of a stable hull form with generous beam and fine entry forward. This approach delivers a hull that is wide at the sheer for maximum deck space, reserve buoyancy and good performance to weather. Semi-elliptical wing and fin keels are matched with a balanced elliptical rudder to insure predictable handling and a balanced helm in a variety of conditions. The rig has double spreaders with fore and aft lowers which make the mast very stable, easy to set up and tune. This design provides the narrow shroud base necessary for proper genoa sheeting to weather. The deck is highlighted by a "big boat" cockpit with Catalina's hallmark full-length cockpit seats with ergonomically contoured seat backs necessary for long term comfort aboard. In the cabin are all the amenities for weekend retreats and more extended family vacations. Comfortable seating around the varnished teak table provides a great place for meals, relaxing, reading or playing games. The galley is well-planned for the cook, with special attention given to usable storage, a large ice box, and flip up counter over the two-burner stove. The head is a single piece molded unit that is easy to keep clean and fresh. In the sole is a standard shower pan. By night the aft cabin is a private and comfortable retreat for two. The berth forward can be extended and enclosed for two, with the settees functioning well as single berths. To provide more time for owners to enjoy sailing the 270, low maintenance materials have been used on deck and mechanical systems have been designed for easy access for service. Quality materials and engineered structural systems carefully assembled promise the 270 to be durable, reliable and a pleasure to own for many years to come.
