1985 Seaway Lobster Boat The Seaway 23 is a downeast skeg style lobster boat made of hand laid fiber glass with a very robust hull. She has a rounded chine and only has a few degrees of rise at the stern (8 degrees if memory serves). It has a small cabin that could accommodate two "close" friends. She is built to handle an outboard from 70-115hp with a 25" shaft length. These boats are known for their seaworthiness and many are in service as commercial fishing boats in the New England region. This particular boat has had its stringers replaced with Prisma foam composite stringers. The entire transom was replaced with Coosa board and the boats deck was replaced with Nidacore and 3 layers of 1808 fiberglass and polyester resin with a gelcoat. This will assure no issues with rot in the future. A new fuel tank was installed, a Moeller USCG approved 35 gallon plastic tank with USCG approved fuel lines. Comes with trailer. 33 ft. Traditional down east lobster boat built in Maine by one of the best, Calvin Beal. Not only do his boats look great, their ride and performance are at the top of the list. I have been commercial fishing for over 35 years, owned a lot of boats, and this boat by far is my favorite. It's great in a chop, maneuvers like a cat, safe, and very economical to run. I am the second owner, the original owner had the boat built and fished it for many years and when I saw it I bought it on the spot. You could immediately tell he took a lot of pride in the boat and kept it maintained. I have done the same, and have spent the last month going over everything on the boat to get it ready to sell. This boat is clean, everything works properly, and it's ready to go to work now. There are no surprises with this boat. It's equipped with hydro slave 12" hauler, shaft driven pump with Pitts clutch, hydro slave power steering, Twin Disc reverse gear 2 to 1 ratio, 1 1/2 stainless shaft, Furuno radar, big screen Garmin GPS plotter, two Sitex depth sounders, 80 gallon fuel. It had 8500 hours on the engine and reverse gear. I can work a 10 hour day of running pots and burn 12-14 gallons. The boat cruises economically at 15 knots and will top out over 20 knots. There are no leaks, and no maintenance issues, oil and all filters have been changed. I will be available for anyone interested to show the boat and take a test ride, you will not be disappointed.
