Converted to a MotorYacht 1958 Navy Vessel Commissioned as surface Naval Officers warfare training vessel for South Pacific. Later serviced as a mine sweeper. Sold by the Navy in 1996 after decommissioning to a couple that converted it to a liveaboard and they lived aboard for 11 years after extensive conversion to a private Yacht. They preserved most of the Naval Warfare training equipment. This piece of history is now privately owned. It is now for sale as owner's health precludes use of this amazingly preserved Naval Vessel. The bridge, motors, and systems were set up like a Naval Warship so future Naval Officers could train for Command of the full size ships. The seller lived on the Yacht for 17 years. Never used the generator but did replace the battery. Bottom painted March 2023. No musty or fuel smells. No soft spots were detected. The over all condition of the boat is good. Recently replaced batteries. When taking the photos I noticed that the boat is in well above average condition. One thing to note - The boat is due for a bottom job at some point in the coming years. There is an Onan generator onboard but there is a crack in the exhaust manifold that must be fixed for it to operate properly. Note from the seller-- "Both Mercruiser 454's have just under 700 hours of run time. Both were converted to rocker roller configurations with Comp Cams parts. A new 454 crate motor is included with the sale of the boat. This motor is on a pallet stored at a business in the Carson Valley. This business has a fork lift." According to the seller, everything works except for the generator and the port engine voltmeter gauge on the dashboard. The boat needs a deep cleaning and shows some signs of leaks around ports, particularly in the forward cabin, all of which can be seen in the pictures. This Bayliner 3888 appears to be in good condition and well-kept. The previous owner did a lot of work to her back in 2019, both mechanically and cosmetically. Even the helm enclosure was installed new back in 2019. There are a few known issues aboard: The Furuno radar isn't currently functioning, the autopilot is not working, the heater in the salon is not working and the generator won't stay running. A recent survey suggested that the struts be reset, specifically the starboard strut. There are two water tanks in the Bayliner, but only the forward tank is in use, as the midship tank has a leak.
