This is an exceptionally well built wooden offshore fishing machine. She was designed by Naval Architect Nelson Zimmer and built by Murphy Boatworks in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Murphy Boats are famous for their quality design & construction. Murphys boats all benefit from his scrupulous attention to detail. They built sleek wooden powerboats, that were modern versions of the luxurious Chris-Crafts and GarWood boats that plied resort lakes and coastal waters in the 20s and 30s. To be low maintenance enough to stay even with fiberglass vessels, Murphy incorporated modern technology. The wood is held together with epoxy resins and epoxy-impregnated fiberglass cloth covers the hull below the waterline. Murphys boats are modern boats built out of wood. This mixture of elegance and convenience does not come cheap. If it was possible to re-create this work of art now, it would cost $300,000.00 to $400,000.00 dollars. This vessel has been in the water exactly four times. She was tested twice by Mr. Murphy the builder, and used twice by her owner for a total of 95 hours. In 1991 her owner was transferred overseas and for her next 21 years she was stored in a climate controlled storage facility, professionally taken care of.
