OK, before I start the description of this great boat, let me explain a couple things: I know this is not prime boating season, but I figured I would just offer this boat for sale before I put it up for the winter and close up my summer residence. Please understand, the price of $5600 is FIRM! I thought about "playing the game" and asking $6800 to let people "beat me up", but I don't like games. This price represents selling the boat for $1500 less than I have in it. If I can't do that, I will be happy to just keep it. Also, please understand that a $500 NON REFUNDABLE down payment is due immediately, with balance of $5100 due in bank wire transfer or cash within 7 days of purchase. Please do NOT ask me to deviate from these terms. Just remember, when a nice item like this comes up (few and far between) there is no bad time to buy! Now that I've said that, let's get on with the boat: I am the second owner of this STUNNING 1973 Correct Craft Mustang 16ft speed boat. I bought it several years ago from the original owner on his 83rd birthday! This boat was kept in a heated basement garage when not actually in the water being used. It was always trailered to and from and NEVER sat overnight in the water or elements. Consequently, even at 41 years old, it looks better than many 3 or 4 year old boats I have seen! Gelcoat, chrome, interior, etc. all are bright and shiny! Just a few light marks as shown in photos on underside where boat has been on and off the trailer. Everything else is simply IMMACULATE! Gelcoat does not have any of the usual cracks or bubbles that you often see in older model boats. Upholstery is all original and still looks like new! Stringers, floor boards, and bilge are all original, extra clean, and not rotted like you often see. This Mustang is one of only a few that was factory special ordered with the potent HOLMAN & MOODY high performance Ford 302 V8. For those of you who are unaware, Holman & Moody, based out of Charlotte, NC did high performance Ford products in the same vein as Carroll Shelby. Boats with these engines are VERY RARE. Immaculate survivors like this are even rarer! Motor is all original, and looks and runs awesome! Velvet drive transmission also performs beautifully. Instruments and accessories all work. Original Correct Craft trailer is also in great shape with excellent tires, wheel bearings, bearing buddies, and working lights. Boat was trailered 500 miles recently with no issues. I also have a custom made full mooring cover that goes to the water line. It is only 2 years old, and is still excellent! Also, I have all books, papers, service receipts etc. for this boat since the day it was new! Also even have picture of original owner with boat the day it was new! Hi, you’re looking at a 1975 Chris Craft XK 22. The XK 22 is one of only 220 boats ever made, from 1971 to 1975. They are becoming increasingly rare and collectible. In the past year I've seen a few $45,000 asking prices! It is a ruggedly built boat and will handle almost any waters you’d put her in. She is 22’9” long and 7’8” beam, weighing 3300 pounds. The XK’s were originally designed by famed offshore racing champion, Jim Wynne. Jim patented the lifting strake and designed several of the fiberglass boats for Chris Craft at the time they were moving into glass boats from wood. Dick Avery designed the interior and the look of the boat. Dick was recruited to Chris Craft in the ‘60’s from Ford in Detroit. He was on the original design team of the Ford Mustang. So the boat has that “Muscle Car” feel to it and frankly, there has not been another one like her on the water. My XK 22 has gone through a complete renovation. I had the boat completely stripped down and painted. Any fiberglass “dings” were expertly repaired. The boat was primed and painted with AwlGrip paint. A new stainless steel rub rail was installed at the same time. New upholstery (front seats) were done. Mechanically, there is a brand new rebuilt Chevy 5.7 or 350 CI marine engine. There are currently about 5 hours on it. A new 4 barrel Edelbrock carb was installed, as was a new starter, dual batteries with switch, trim pump, fuel system completely serviced, new shifting mechanism and the list goes on and on. There is a full sun pad on the rear and a beautiful teak swim platform with stainless steel ladder. The Volvo outdrive works like a charm and has full tilt/trim. The boat has new shag carpeting, that’s right, shag! The boat was delivered with shag carpeting in the 1970’s (remember the Shag Revolution?) I've had the boat on Lake Minnetonka, outside of Minneapolis. No one can believe she's a classic boat from the '70's--she's a real head-turner for sure.
