This is a traditional New England catboat built in Barnstable, Mass by Howard Boats (howard-boats.com). It is similar to a Beetle cat except that it is longer, has bench seating and the hull is fiberglass (hull #10). The hull is white with a blue 1-1/2 bootstripe. It has no bottom paint because it has always been on a lift station in FRESH WATER. The deck is buff with cedar floor boards in the cockpit with varnished oak coamings and Sitka spruce spars. Sails are Dacron with reef points and battens. The mainsheet block is a Harken ratchet and stand with a cam-cleat. There is also a cam-cleat for the centerboard line. The Sunbrella seat cushions are blue to match the bootstripe. The sail cover and separate cockpit cover are also Sunbrella and match the deck. Truly an upscale, high-performance cuddy cabin cruiser and fun machine, the Cobalt 343 is what one might call a gentleman's day boat, with room for plenty of guests in comfortable and quality surroundings and performance to make it all exciting and fun. With a large, extended swim platform, both forward and aft sun pads and plenty of wrap-around cockpit seating, this boat is all about being outside on a nice day, but if things get a little snotty or privacy is needed, the cabin boasts an almost equivalent amount of seating. At the helm is a full set of highly visible and legible analog gauges, and as with many high-performance boats also including a GPS speedometer and oil temperature and block water pressure gauges. The twin freshwater-cooled Mercruiser big-block V8s stand on tough Bravo One legs and this power package in concert with the stepped deep-V hull will get the boat up to a top speed of almost a mile a minute, with an efficient cruise at around 40 MPH burning about 3/4 of a gallon per mile, with nimble but solid handling at all speeds. Of course if one is looking at any Cobalt they likely know why, the reputation of Cobalt Boats for extremely well-made vessels of superior build, finish, materials and fitting out is well known, nobody ever got teased or fired for buying one, that's for sure. And for those who do NOT keep their boats away at a marina like kids at boarding school, the trailer is included in the sale and at the asking price. Owner says this boat is sound, and all systems are believed to be in good condition. Of course, a professional inspection is recommended. The MERCURY BRIDGEPORT 2.4L engines develop 260hp each, and are original. They have clocked only 66 hours. These engines are made for aggressive handling, and are extremely impressive. The engines have not been started since around 2017 so they need to be checked out. The new purchaser should plan on at least replacing the water impellers and changing the lube in the upper and lower engine components. The interior cabin carpet lining the walls and ceiling do need to be replaced. It is believed that the wiring should be updated. It appears to be a solid hull, no soft spots. Stored under cover. Tires need to be replaced due to age. The seller will sell the hull and trailer only for $14,500 if you prefer to update engines and repower. The trailer is custom built and is believed to be roadworthy by the seller, although a set of tires is recommended. Power Cord in included for shore power. SHIPPING AND STORAGE TERMS The buyer is responsible for all shipping, storage and loading charges. We will assist all buyers with finding competitive shipping companies. Storage will accrue after 10 days at a rate of $10 per days after the end of auction. Forklift service and customized crating will be charged at a rate of $85.00 an hour. We assume no responsibility which may occur after item leaves our premises.
