This vessel is designed for ocean duty! Built in the traditional Naval resorcinol process, her 108' wooden hull is 2 1/4" thick, comprised of Douglass fir planks over Alaskan cedar and tied together with laminated white oak beams. I fell in love the first time I stood up in the v-berth bilge, and I still love this boat! The details are available on the Internet, just google search for "yp685 wiki" to discover specifications and lots of photos of this vessel and her sister ships which are still active at the United States Naval Academy. I hired a Detroit Diesel expert out of retirement and we started on the starboard engine as the port engine was missing the starter. I purchased AGM batteries and the engine fired on residual fuel the first time we spun it! The left cylinder head was partially removed so we removed it for inspection then reinstalled it, that's when I ran out of money (May 2014). I sourced the missing port and starboard engine parts but don't have funds to buy them. This can be an operational vessel with as little as $25k invested in parts and labor to address the issues identified in the survey (June 2014). I was able to finish the white paint job and seal the rain leaks, and install high-capacity bilge pumps in four of the nine water tight compartments, but I am out of time and money, and I have too many boats so I have decided to sell this one. I towed it to its current location in Solomons Maryland, and it is tow-able to your location if you desire to move it. The current slip location is excellent, and paid through June 2015, however you will need insurance coverage to stay. We can schedule inspections anytime, but I recommend day time visits, just call 205-540-6952 to schedule the visit with me, otherwise please do not board the vessel, the cameras and security system is armed, local law enforcement officers regularly patrol the area, (and I prosecute trespassers). I will deliver a hard copy of the recent survey when we meet, please do not ask me to email it to you. Vessel is suitable for towing, buyers are responsible for towing, once is enough for me with this huge boat, vessel is sold as is where is. I did not take all of the photos in the ad. The boat was originally purchased new in New York and was moved to Lake Mead in 2007, . I purchased the boat from a bank auction and the boat is currently stored on Lake Pleasant just minutes from Phoenix Arizona. Prior to being put in a wet slip in Phoenix , a new bottom antifouling paint was applied. The bottom job is less than 4 months old. I have a clear title in hand and I am ready to deal on this boat. This boat is powered by twin 496 8.1L Mercury V-Drive Motors, each wearing just under 480 hours. The engines are closed cooling meaning it utilizes a head exchanger and does not run lake/sea water throughout the engine blocks. I have ran the motors and generator for 2+ hours, they run and perform as expected. The Kohler Marin Generator has 491 hours and runs the Air Conditioning without fail. The boat has been in the water for over 30 days and the engine bay remains completely dry. As to be expected with a used boat, it does have its flaws. All of the exterior carpet is missing and as is the case with the canvas. The bimini tops are still in place however the stitching is gone due to weathering. All of the vinyl looks good and is ready for use. As for the interior, it is very good condition and everything functions as it should. The the only thing missing from the interior is the canvas that snaps over the carpet. I have personally ran all systems including the Air Conditioners, Generator, Shower, Sink, Toilet, TV, Lights, Water Heater, Spot Light, and Windless. I have found several companies on the internet that offer complete canvas packages with camper enclosures in various colors for about $3,000. For those interested parties in Arizona that wish to keep the boat on Lake Pleasant, I do have a slip at Scorpion Bay(West Side of Pleasant) that can be rented. Slip rental will run $500 a month. For anyone wanting to ship the boat we can arrange shipping at approximately $2.00 per mile. There is not a trailer included with the sale of this boat, furthermore a boat of this size will require a permit should you wish to purchase a trailer and attempt to move the boat yourself. All of the electronics are included in the sale of the boat, but the radar and such has been removed for transportation. I do not plan on guaranteeing anything with the plotter or radar, this system is the original and could stand to be upgraded should you intend on navigating the ocean and bays.
