The owner of this Hatteras 36 Convertible has used the boat for fishing and cruising. The exterior surfaces are clean overall. The canvas looked good and the canvas over the aft deck was a recent addition. Isinglass was clear. The cushions on the bridge were cracking but functional. In the cabin, the wood features were finished nicely and had good shine with minimal scratches or marring. The carpet was recently installed. Lighting mostly appeared original and was mostly incandescent. The diesel engines are accessed through the salon floor. Aluminum framing holds the engine bay hatches in place and they appeared very solid. The engine compartment was dry and orderly. The generator has been removed and will need to be serviced or rebuilt. The props were dinged in shallow water recently and there is no prop vibration, the owner confirms. This owner replaced both starters, the hot water tank and the trim tab motor. The air conditioning is not working. Don't let this one get away! Click service, restoration projects.The cabin of the boat was stripped to bare fiberglass and given a primer coat of paint. 100% of the upholstery, foam, headliner, couches, mattresses and carpet were replaced with new. The lighting was updated to LED lighting to match the color scheme. Most of the through hulls, pumps, hoses, head etc. were replaced with new. The cabinets were painted to match the updated color and the stereo was replaced.The cockpit upholstery was also completely redone with new high end marine vinyl. The work is top class. The dash was replaced with a new panel. The gauges are all new as well as many of the switches. The throttle and shift controls were replaced with new Gaffrig controls. The steering cable, steering wheel and most other hardware was replaced. New snap out carpet was installed and a new Sunbrella cover was installed.We repaired blemishes in the hull and repainted the hull and deck. The silver to blue to black fade is perfect. The black has a sharp metal flake that really stands out in the sun. The striping is all painted- no decals were used on the sides or top deck. The pint work was done by CMT group in Elkhart, IN.The twin 454s were rebuilt to factory stock specifications. The Bravo 1 drives were inspected, freshened up and resealed. On those days, you could do a lot worse than own a Chris-Craft Corsair 36, a runabout on steroids that's about a sexy and sweet-looking as a boat can be. A raft of people can sit comfortably in the cockpit for dayboating, or a couple can enjoy the boat as a compact cruiser for overnighting or short voyages. It will be one of the coolest-looking boats in any harbor, so if you want to see and be seen, the Corsair 36 could be just the boat for you. THE MISSION There is only one mission for the Corsair 36: To be the most jaw-dropping, stunningly handsome, alluring, flawlessly elegant boat on the water. Her classic beauty signals the taste and nautical refinement of her owner for all to see. CONSTRUCTION The most unusual aspect of her construction is the complexity or her tooling (i.e. molds). Every compound curve, reverse, relief and hull tumble home is made with molds within molds in one of the most complicated and artistic jobs of fiberglass construction in the industry. But it is these curves which make the Corsair what she is. Otherwise construction is basically traditional. A vinylester barrier coat is put on the hull exterior to prevent osmosis in the unlikely event the boat is left in the water for long periods. But this is really a summer boat, not a year-rounder. Her smaller Corsair sisters make excellent tenders for megayacht owners and, indeed, the Corsair 36 could serve the same purpose if the right 300-footer came along. ACCOMODATIONS Thanks to its size, the Corsair 36 can fit a comfortable cabin under its foredeck. There's 6' 2" of headroom and a midships stateroom with a queen-sized berth and a cedar-lined hanging locker. Forward there is a banquette that makes into a V-berth sleeping two. Drop in the dining table and it makes into a double. An adequate galley has a dual-voltage refrigerator, two-burner electric stove and microwave oven. The head compartment has a shower stall with a teak grate and electric toilet with macerator. For a runabout, the Corsair 36 should make a good cruiser, at least for short voyages and long weekends.
