The boat was built by Cheoy Lee in Hong-Kong, in 1976. Cheoy Lee 42, docked in Pillard Point (Half Moon Bay), registered in California. The boat is visible at Pillard Point marina, dock H-26. You can access the dock any time (there is no gate). If you want to see the inside, we will just need to agree on a time and date for me to show you. The boat is in good shape, we've been owning it, traveling and living on it since 2004. The engine will need some attention eventually, but it runs OK. Based on ads I see for similar boats, its value should be around $50,000, you can see it with the links below, they'll lead you to pictures . There was a recent storn and saome damge thgat was jsut foxed. But a starboard mizzen chain-plate got broken, and I am not going to be able to fix that quickly, it requires some time I don't have for now...Having a new chain-plate would take I believe less that $100, but it would take a couple of hours to put it in place. This is something a possible buyer should be aware of. Other than that this is perfect.http://donpedro.lediouris.net/journal/diary/2014.01/IMAG0518.jpghttp://trip-2010-2011.lediouris.netMore pictures of the inside are available at http://donpedro.lediouris.net/sleipnir/index.htmlAbout the maintenance, you can checkout the link at http://donpedro.lediouris.net/?view=protected/maintenance.html,Also, details on the equipment are available at http://donpedro.lediouris.net/clspec.html http://donpedro.lediouris.net/protected/maintenance.htmlsome pictures of the boat - inside and outside - available at http://donpedro.lediouris.net/?view=journal/index.html. read http://donpedro.lediouris.net.Details about the equipment (oven/stove, heater, watermaker, winches, auto-pilot, radio, electronics, etc). The boat has 9 sails (main, mizzen, trysail, new staysail, yankee, genoa, spinnaker, mizzen staysail, storm staysail).Mizzen and main have been recently (2014) reviewed and tuned-up by a Sailmaker. They are not new, but in OK shape. There is also a spinnaker sleeve. ESTATE SALE 1971 CHRIS CRAFT 42 COMMANDERAFT CABIN TWIN FORD 460 C.I. STRAIGHT DRIVE INBOARD ENGINES Classic 42’ Commander Aft Cabin with many expensive upgrades. This has been a local Lake St. Clair boat since new. Her most recent owner of 15 years spent much time and money on upgrades over the years. This boat is being offered for sale due to the owner’s passing. The previous owner re-powered this boat approximately 100 hours ago with big block 460 c.i. Ford V-8 motors coupled to new Z.F. Hurth transmissions. These motors are naturally aspirated and feature custom stainless steel exhaust, new shafts and 4 blade props. The owner easily spent what we are asking for the entire boat, just on the re-power alone. Other custom professionally crafted upgrades include:· Teak bow pulpit· Anchor Windlass· Stainless Steel railings to replace original life lines· Teak toe rails replaced· Radar Arch· Enlarged galley with full size fridge and built-in microwave· Aft Cabin queen size bed to replace twin beds The electronics on the boat are vintage. Radar, GPS, Depth Sounder, Trim Tabs, Spotlight and gauges are all in working order. VHF, Sniffer, Horns are not operable. The hull is in very good condition, very shiny, with no signs of major repairs or damage. The spray rail stainless cap has a few dings on either side towards the aft on both sides. The bottom is very good with no build up of bottom paint. It would appear that the bottom was stripped in recent years. The Canvas is in good condition and includes top, side curtains and straight back-drop as well as helm, Captain’s seat, aft deck seats and bow seat covers. Exterior seating all in good shape. The cabin headliner is good. Cabin soft goods are in need of replacement. Carpet, bedding, curtains are all dated. These upgrades would make the boat a star! Also, the forward V-berth cabin needs new wallpaper. The Two Marine Air/Heat units function properly. Onan 6.5KW Generator starts, but won’t stay running, needs tune-up. Hot water tank operation has not been tested. Two electric flush heads fore and aft. Owners Manuals present. SEE VIDEOS OF BOAT RUNNING ON LAKE ST. 1993 Hunter Passage 42 - PROTEUS Set up for serious off-shore passage making and fully self-sufficient off-the-grid cruising. Has recently (beginning 2014) sailed in England, the coast of Europe and the western Med (2015) and crossed the Atlantic to the Caribbean (Nov 2015). Came up through the Caribbean (spring 2016). This yacht was never chartered, always privately owned, and meticulously cared for. All servicing and installations were done to a high standard. All safety equipment is up-to-date. The yacht participated in the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) which requires a high standard of safety equipment, training, and inspections. The yacht has been certified as a Class-A offshore sailing yacht. All documentation is available and will be conveyed to future owner. The previous owners lived aboard, loved every minute of it, but are now moving back on land for a few years and do not want the boat to sit and atrophy. She needs to go to a good home and to someone who will continue the journey! She has taken care of her owners for years and will continue to do so for many years to come. S/V PROTEUS is "overbuilt" and designed for extended offshore passage-making and off-the-grid cruising. Just want to jump all the way down to the USVI instead of going the super-slow way all the way through the Bahamas? Okay. The previous owners just made a passage from the Dominican Republic straight to Ft.Lauderdale (March 2016). Seven days offshore? No problem. PROTEUS has a thicker hull, reinforced rigging, extra backstay (B&R rigs normally don't have them). Massive solar panels, watermaker, genset, wind generator – all these advanced features make for a yacht that can go anywhere, do anything, and actually be comfortable while doing it. The solar panels were upgraded in 2015, and the owners report that they lived entirely off the solar panels and almost never used the generator while underway. Occasionally, you'll hear people scoff at production yachts for being only for "coastal" cruising. "Oh, I'd never cross an ocean in that!" Not the Passage 42! Did I mention she's cruised in the North Sea and English Channel recently? Final Thoughts from the Owner:We truly love this boat. Because of our time on PROTEUS, we will never be the same. Everywhere we go and everything we do for the rest of our lives will be colored by our experiences sailing this yacht. And it's not like we're ridiculously rich – we did everything on a modest budget, mostly on savings – but we did it, and you can, too. If you were looking for a chance to cut the lines and live like you always dreamed, PROTEUS could be that chance. It was for us. England, Ireland, Gibraltar, Morocco, half the islands in the Caribbean... it was all in reach, just outside the window. We look back on it now and think: "What on earth did we just do!?!" But we did. PROTEUS took us there. She'll take you there. 2001 Crowther Osborn 42 Super Shockwave Strong, Light, and FAST"Green Flash" Is Extraordinary  The Osborn 42 was a collaborative project between Bruce Osborne and Dave Calvert (Calvert Sail-loft).  Her hulls are based on the fast and proven Super Shockwave 42 by legendary multihull designer Lock Crowther of Australia.   Morelli and Melvin (Playstation maxi cat designers) did the structural engineering, and the underwater foils were designed by Bill Roberts (designer of the Supercat and RC27 and 30). Osborn and Calvert set out to build a cat that could be ultra competitive in open water racing, and cruised in relative comfort.  The builders utilized carbon fiber, epoxy and Corecell construction to make her incredibly light and strong, weighing in around 7,500 lbs.  A 16:1 hull fineness ratio makes her incredibly fast (popular trailerable trimarans have a 8:1 ratio, and are considered fast).  With her high-tech construction, deep daggerboards and spade rudders, this cat will outpoint any other cat of similar size to weather. She raced the Miami to Nassau race in '05 and '06, winning both in corrected time and first to finish. Her previous owner reports her top speed was 27 knots in race mode.   She now cruises between 8-12 knots in her current configuration.  Her current owner of the past 7 years has taken the boat one step further and has customized her into a true blue water fast cruiser.  Green flash safely cruised from the Gulf Coast of FL, through the South Pacific and is now located in Hawaii.  Green flash is a one of a kind catamaran that will appeal to go-fast sailors that prefer boat speed over extravagant interiors.  Her owner is currently anchored in Molokai, HI.  Make an appointment to see her in Hawaii, before her owner makes his next jump to New Zealand.  Fresh Bottom paint June 2015!

Many other new items, repairs and repalcements, recent hull survey completed in May 2012.Very safe and comfortable sailboat. Easily sleeps 5 and is legally registered to have charters for up to six persons. Gusto" Is an incredibly well founded safe and comfortable vessel. She has made trips from Boston to Central America and back several times. She is a full keel vessel that offers a high degree of stability and comfort in any seas The below is my last survey May 30, 2012 Yacht Survey and Condition Report At the request of Mr. Peter M Licnikas the undersigned surveyor conducted a condition and valuation survey of the yacht “GUST-O” a 1978 48 ft Mermaid Ketch sailboat as it lay on jack stands at Yankee Landing Marina Merrimac St, Newburyport, Ma 01951. Name: GUST-O Year: 1978 Builder: Pali Shiang Taipei Hsien, Taiwan Model: Mermaid 42 Ketch Documented: 624951 Hull ID: TAC420251278 Dimensions: LOA 48' LOD 42' Beam 12’2” Draft 6’3” Displacement: 14 net tons Type: Sail Intended Use: Pleasure Hull Graphics and Color: White hull, green bottom Estimated present Value: $71,200.00 Estimated replacement value $245.000.00 Scope of Survey: The purpose of this survey was to estimate the current market value and marine risk evaluation. The survey of this vessel is based solely on careful visual and non-destructive inspection of all accessible portions of its structure and available equipment. Complete inspection can only be made by removal of soles, decking, headliners, ceiling or hull lining, tanks, and joiner work. Complete inspection of machinery, auxiliaries, piping, tanks, systems, electrical wiring, electrical and electronic equipment can only be made by continued operation or by disassembly. This would be damaging in nature and prohibitively time consuming, and therefore was not done. This vessel was surveyed while in lay up at Yankee Landing Marina, Merrimac St. Newburyport, Ma 01951. I visually inspected all sections of the vessel and its equipment detailed in this report. General Description: This hull is a reinforced fiberglass molding hand laid up using alternate layers of mat and woven roven with polyester resin. It is stiffened with web floors, bulkheads and joinery flanges. The hull design incorporates a molded lead filled keel and rudder for ballast. The hull is heavily built and is rigged as a Ketch designed for sail with a 45’ main mast, and 25’ mizzen mast. Bottom: Underwater surfaces were smooth and fair with no signs of damage or recent groundings. The bottom paint was in fair condition. I sounded the entire hull with a phenolic hammer and found no voids, blisters or delamination. I also placed an Electro-physics moisture meter on the hull and found it to be in the acceptable dry range with readings of 15 and less. Through hull fittings were all bronze and appeared original and in good condition, however none were removed for inspection. I observed several through hull fittings that were plugged or partially blocked by barnacles and growth. I recommend the fittings be cored out. The keel is lead filled for ballast rated 9400lbs. The propeller shaft is a 1” in diameter stainless steel supported with a rubber stern bearing with an external housing, all in good condition. I placed a target on the shaft and rotated it. The shaft tracked true within visual tolerances. The rudder is supported at the top with a 1.5” bronze shaft. The shaft and bearings turned smoothly with no signs of wear. Boot top up was white epoxy paint. The paint was in overall good condition with only minor scuffs. I observed one deep scratch on the starboard side that I recommend be repaired to prevent moisture intrusion into the underlying fiberglass. Topsides: Topside teak wood has been removed and replaced with fiberglass with non skid. The topsides were in good condition solid with no signs of moisture or rot. Cabin ventilation is through four Lexan covered 24”X24” teak hatches and four brass 6” air scoops. The life rail was rubber coated stainless steel cable with stainless steel stanchions. All stanchions were well secured and solid. All cleats were stainless and wood in good condition well bedded and solid. The rub rail is teak in good condition. Tanks: The two fuel tanks were rectangle in shape located under the cabin sole. The tanks were aluminum and well secured with proper fill and vents and rated at a total of 88 gallons. Water tanks were rectangle in shape and located under the cockpit sole. The tanks were well secured and fitted with proper vents and fill. The tanks were rated at 110 gallons. Spars & Rigging: Masts and booms are constructed of wood and appeared straight and in good condition. Both masts were rigged with no stretch stainless steel cable and turnbuckles. All rigging was in good condition well secured to the hull and properly tightened. The masts were in need of new paint. Hull Interior: Below decks I removed loose floorboards, opened lockers, and removed drawers for the best inspection of the hull interior and bilge area. I found all bulkheads to be secure with no signs of stress or damage, and the bilges to be in need of a minor cleaning. The interior was finished in custom teak in good condition, and consisted of a V berth forward with full head and shower. To the rear was a salon area consisting of a bench seat on the starboard side and a dinette on the port side. To the rear of the dinette was a galley consisting of a 4 burner natural gas stove with oven, ice box, and double stainless steel sink. The starboard side contained a large chart table with electrical panel. To the rear was a second full head on the starboard side and large master stateroom with queen size bunk. Bilges where sited were generally clean. Bilge pumping was with one super gulper manual pump in the galley. Along with a 12v rule 1500 main pump, and a rule 1000 backup. Steering on board is a pedestal center post with a 3’6” wheel turning a Sea Star hydraulic system rated at 1000 psi. Electrical: The vessels electrical supply is both 120ac powered by a shore power cord only, and 12v. The shore power only powers several outlets. All AC outlets were GFI protected except the outlet near the chart table. I recommend that outlet be changed to a GFI outlet in accordance with ABYC recommended practices. The 12v system not powered up at this time. The 12v wiring was well run, secured, and appropriately sized with a breaker panel and battery selector switch mounted above the chart table in accordance with ABYC recommended practices. The 12 v system was powered with three 800 amp combination starting/house batteries and one 1200 amp and 1000 amp dedicated house batteries. All batteries were in acid proof boxes and well secured located under the aft bunk. Fire Protection: Fire extinguishers consisted of four BC size I. Propulsion Machinery: The yacht power is from a 1978 Perkins 4108 diesel rated at 80 hp. The engine has a 60 amp alternator for charging the starting and house batteries. Engine compartment ventilation was through two 3” intake and exhaust. Engine mounts bolt to steel I beam beds with no apparent signs of movement. Fuel lines are copper hose in good condition. Engine seawater intake is through a bronze ball valve with sea strainer. Engine exhaust is direct to the transom through rubber hose. Fuel filtering is with a Racor filter/water separator in good working order. Lube oil was clean and filled to the proper level. Engine was not running at this time due to winter layup. Engine controls were mounted in the rear cockpit with a single throttle/shift lever with push pull cables. The cables functioned smoothly and were in good working order. THERE IS NO WARRANTY GIVEN OR IMPLIED FOR THE FUTURE USE OR LIFE OF THE ENGINE DESCRIBED HEREIN. Ground Tackle: Ground tackle on board consists of a 40 lb plow type anchor with a good lead of chain and of 5/8” nylon anchor rode. Sail Inventory: 1 mizzen sail 1 mainsail 1 130 jenoa Electronic & Navigation Equipment: Garmin 3210 Plotter/sonar/weather Standard Horizon digital depth sounder Cobra Marine VHF radio Sony Am/Fm/Cassette stereo 1 Ritchie compass Safety Gear: 4 12 gauge Arial flares 8 Type I adult life vests 1 Type V throw ring 3 Type III adult life vests Horn/bell/whistle Conclusion: Overall this vessel appeared very well maintained and in good condition for its age and class. As seen, this vessel would be a considered a suitable marine risk for its intended use of inland, bay, and near costal operation provided all (*) recommendations are complied with, and all U.S. Coast Guard safety equipment is properly fitted. The estimated value was based on the average selling price of vessels of this size, type, construction, condition, and age, with all equipment and accessories observed aboard. This value is based on personal knowledge and experience with the present sales market, along with listings on the internet, references, resources, and publications available to this surveyor, and is represented as our best opinion with available information. This survey has been prepared and submitted in good faith. It is understood and agreed that the services rendered by Capt. Craig Poirier Master marine surveyor as the attending surveyor, were performed to the best of our ability. Any reports furnished either oral or in writing, are accepted as our opinion and best judgment. They are not in any way intended as a representation or warranty as to the condition of the vessel or any of its parts.
