Last oil change was in 2018. A full strip of the old bottom, followed by the application of 8 coats of epoxy and then anti-fouling bottom paint appears this Wanderer is good for 10+ years! This Wanderer could use some cleaning and detailing TLC to restore her to her original glory. She's sailworthy as evidenced by the pictures taken during a recent early evening sail on July 11, 2019. Give this GOOD OL' BOAT some simple attention and this Wanderer will be the toast of the harbor! Stock #183974 The original 1967 engine is an Atomic 4, 30hp gasoline, 4 cylinder, manufactured by Universal engines was rebuilt about 20 years ago A Fantastic design coupled with bullet-proof construction makes this 30-foot Pearson Wanderer a classic sailboat in the truest sense of the word. This 1967 Pearson Wanderer was personally selected and maintained by Olympic sailing gold medalist Peter Barrett, and has been lovingly kept and sailed by his son for the past two decades. This Pearson is a handcrafted, built boat from years gone buy when they were built to a different standard. She is, seaworthy enough to carry you around the world if you so desire and comfortable enough to easily cruise a young family or a couple around the bay and/or up and down the coast. The Pearson Wanderer is a more seaworthy and sea-kindly vessel than those emerging from factories today. The connected two-mast rigging system provides additional structural stability. When down, the centerboard allows excellent upwind performance. With the board up, shallow waters can be explored, or the boat can be anchored closer to shore than many otherwise similar vessels. The Wanderer model has a rare combination of big-boat heft and small-boat response, and it should be well-mannered offshore in big waves as well as in choppy bays. Maybe that's why so many voyagers choose it. The ample side decks are convenient and safe. One can move forward with security, and grabrails on the cabin top provide good handholds. Offshore, a good deck is a matter of staying on board the boat or not. The cockpit is spacious for two and can accommodate four if desired. The tiller does take up space while sailing but can be folded back out of the way come cocktail time. Sail inventory includes a cruising mainsail, roller furling genoa, spinnaker and mizzen sail. The rigging of this Pearson is solid and in full functioning condition. Reason for selling is not using enough.

Note- Boat is being sold to raise money for Urban Surf 4 Kids, a 501c3 non profit that provides water based event for foster youth. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE AD CAREFULLY AN ADDITIONAL $99 (document handling fee) is added to the final bid price. Call with any questions- 619.931.4958 BOAT IS SOLD AS IS without warranty or guarantees 1976 Pearson 30 Below is a link to a page with Pearson 30 specs, layout, etc. Sail Inventory: - 2 mainsails - one have been reworked spring 2014 with seam restitching - 3 jibs - 90%, 130%, 170% - spinnaker with pole and rigging - drifter - complete running rigging, some recently replaced Engine - Atomic 4 - rebuilt by Moyer Marine. Upgraded to fresh water cooling Hull - Absolutely no blisters. Has a double epoxy barrier coat Tiller steering Miscellaneous Equipment: - Bimini (lightweight) - Cockpit cushions - Bunk Cushions have been stored off of boat for 10 years - Lifesling - portapottie - new manual bilge pump The not-so-pretty: The interior of the boat is basically stripped. Cabin wiring and plumbing is gone. There are some rainwater leaks from the topside (primarily from the fixed window ports). A portion of the v-berth plywood surface needs to be replaced due to a hatch leak which has since been repaired. This 1976 Pearson 30 was first owned by a serious sailor if the sail inventory is any indication. There is a 90% heavy weather jib, a 130% genoa, and a 170% genoa. For light air and downwind work the boat has a drifter and a spinnaker with complete rigging. With tiller steering and hanked-on headsails, the boat is set up for sailing purists. Pearson 30's are noted for their solid construction, heavy-duty rigging, and great balance. The second owner wanted to be a sailor but the dream never materialized. The boat was docked at his 1700's plantation house off the Mobjack Bay for several years, a 40 minute ride under power to open water. I purchased the boat in drydock in 1994, upgrading from a Paceship 23 to have more cockpit room (8') for the kids. I had the Atomic 4 engine rebuilt by Moyer Marine, the foremost expert on these iconic sailboat motors in 1998 and applied a second epoxy barrier coat despite never having seen a blister on the hull. We had many wonderful sailing seasons but as the kids grew up and career pressures increased, we have not used the boat for a couple of years. This Pearson 30 needs a lot of TLC. Lack of use has been harder on the boat than regular use. Someone who is moderately handy could make the boat ship-shape with 50-75 hours of work. In addition to the items mentioned above the following is included: - complete running rigging - Bimini (lightweight) - Cockpit cushions - Bunk Cushions (have been stored off of boat for 10 years) - Lifesling - portapottie
