Penn Yan Swift, classic 12-foot runabout. Chinese Red in color, freshly painted. Double-cockpit speedboat, will include oars, gas can and anchors. This a very pretty little boat which has given us good service many years. Absolutely the fastest boat of its day, very stable. Motor is a 1967 Johnson 20-horsepower outboard, still runs great. Trailer is a Holsclaw, good bearings and tires. We have loved and cared for this pretty boat since 1965.

The Penn Yan SWIFT is one of the most desirable, fast, and fun-to-drive runabouts still available, although there aren't many left. Although it's a cliché, these are truly the "sports cars" of the water. This particular model was actually designed as a racing runabout for running in the APBA's "C utility" class with a 30 cubic inch engine. If I were going to keep it I'd either put on a vintage Mercury Mark 20, 25 or 30, or a much newer Merc 25. Also, if you want read speed at a low price, consider a 20 cubic inch Yamato 80, a motor used in APBA stock outboard racing today and readily available. This SWIFT is ready for restoration and needs the following work: 1. Ribs: Some of the ribs from under the front deck to just under the center deck have rotten sections. The upper parts are fine but the bilge areas are bad. But most of the ribs are fine. A restorer could sister in new pieces or just replace them. White oak is recommended for these. 2. Gunwales/Trim: About half of the port gunwale and a few feet of the starboard gunwale need replacing, also with white oak. Some of the center deck trim needs repair/replacement too. 3. Decks: The decks are pretty good but a bit loose due to the gunwale issue (see #2). New gunwales should tighten them up just fine 4. Keel: Part of the keel is missing so if I were doing it I'd replace the whole thing. Some of the good things are: 1. Canvas: Although you may want to recover the boat if you are going to do a full restoration, the existing canvas is pretty good 2. Transom: Solid 3. Steering wheel, cables, pulleys, and clamps: all original and in good shape 4. Front seat back: This factory option makes it comfortable for a passenger to sit in the front seat. I bought this SWIFT last spring with the idea of restoring it. I have been told by several restorers that the work required is not especially difficult but you have to have patience and a lot of desire. At this point, unfortunately, I have neither. I thought about having a pro do the work I was not comfortable doing and doing the rest myself. That might be an idea for someone like me whose dreams are bigger than his skill level. Or, tackle it yourself, take your time, learn as you go, talk to the experts, go to the Penn Yan web site (pennyanboats.com), and work on it over the winter. Or, if you have experience already, do the restoration and dramatically increase the value of the boat. BONUS: I have an original 1955 Penn Yan catalog and a set of Penn Yan Swift decals that I'll include. I have photo graphed a few of the pages of the catalog for additional information. SHIPPING: I can deliver up to 250 miles for $1.00 per loaded mile or help you find a shipper or you drive down to sunny Wilmington, NC and pick it up

12 Penn Yan swift CZT double cockpit professionally restored by The Wooden Canoe Shop, Inc. This was an excellent hull with no rot nor damage whatsoever. The interior was completely stripped, and re-tacked as needed. All brightwork was stripped and varnished with Epifanes high gloss marine varnish. New #10(14oz.) canvassed was installed, filled, and painted the Penn Yan swift zig-zag design. The canvas was glued on the planing section as it was originally. The boat has a dealer installed steering wheel with cable and pulleys. The wheel has been installed, but the cable steering has not. It is intact and included. No motor nor trailer is included. Pickup only in Bryan, Ohio The boat's advertised weight is 182lbs, and is rated for a 25hp motor. I'm fairly certain that it had a 25hp Johnson "Big Twin" on it originally. I have seen a lot of swifts, and it is hard to find one as nice as this one. I can store the boat until April 1st, if the price is paid in full. The restoration has just been completed in my shop. 1959 Cut Swift, XGS, Stepped Swift 13 ft. Serial # XGS179, in excellent condition! The XGS Swift is a very rare boat, as Penn Yan only made them for a couple of years and not that many of them. There were for racing or water skiing, as they tend to ride on the Step, and not make much wake. It is rated for a 40 hp motor, and can have more hp, when racing. It has its original, Ride Glide steering system, thus no cables or pulls. Installed on the boat is a great running Mercury Mark 55 1958, Thunderbolt, Serial # 1138048, restored and in excellent running condition. Has original paint and decals, motor has been totally gone over, (new fuel lines, re-built mag, fuel pump, water impeller, etc. etc). This motor was a one owner motor, I bought it from the original owner, (90 some years old) with very little use, sold new here in western PA. The Swift and Tee Nee trailer were also sold new, here in Western PA, by Kennerdale Marine. It has new canvas on it, with new paint, and was totally stripped and re-varnished! No broken ribs, etc, no broken screws etc. No leaks etc. The trailer is a Tee Nee 1959, tittle in PA, it was sandblasted to bare metal and repainted in original yellow, tires are radial, with buddy bearings, and original fenders and lettering on the fenders, it also has new bunks etc. little chipping from my using it last summer and a little this
