Up for sale is this classic Penn Yan Blue Fin 23 center console in good condition. This boat has been stored for 6 years due to an estate situation. The previous owner had repowered the boat two seasons before his death so the current motor is said to have low hours. Since my purchase I have "moved up" and no longer use this boat so she is for sale. The vessel has a HUGE deck area for fishing. The hull is the Penn Yan tunnel drive design which is said to be able to cruise through water as shallow as 18 inches. All and all a great designed boat that will need some restoration to bring back to it's full potential. HULL: The hull is in good condition with the normal scrapes and dings that would be expected on a hull of this vintage. there is a cracked area in the gel coat on the aft starboard corner which appears to be from a void in fiberglass under the gel coat from manufacturing. This should be a simple fix with some filler and gel coat, and paint. None of the other scrapes affect the integrity or performance of the hull. The bottom has anti fouling paint. TOPSIDE: The topsides are in good condition. Most of the topside areas are a bit dirty from storage but have no significant fiberglass damage. There is some rubbing on the rub rail but is strictly a cosmetic issue. The bow rail is in good shape without breaks or bends but some of the bases and stations are corroded and need replaced. The aluminum hard top is sound and in good condition with some flaking paint. COCKPIT: The cockpit area is a wash down design but there are areas where the decks are soft and will need some repair in the future. There are a number of hatches and doors on the decks that are all in place except for one. Some of the deck hatches are too soft and will need some repair. The seats will need recovered but they will make good patterns for a template. There are a few stress related cracks in the dash area gel coat but nothing that will compromise the integrity of the deck. ENGINE & COMPONENTS: The motor is a 230 hp MerCruiser / GM which is basically a 350 cu with a 2 barrel carburetor.. The engine is was repowered before the storage period and is said to have two season of use. The motor is fresh water cooled and looks to be in good condition with the exception of surface rust and peeling paint. I have not attempted to start the engine and it is being sold "as is". TRAILER: The trailer is a galvanized Load Rite ez loader type roller with tandem axels. The boat fits well on the trailer and it appears in good condition. The tires have some weather checking but nothing significant. The trailer brakes have been disconnected and will need serviced to make in working condition. If you do not want or need the trailer I will keep it and subtract $1000.00 off the total purchase price. Hello, Pretty rare boat built in New York for fishing but a great cruiser too. Very good condition as gel coat is nice for its age.All glass is good and either swing or slide open.Tunnel hull design puts drive shaft and prop even with keel so it will float in 16 inches of water with no obstructions below the water. Has forward vee berth with large opening hatch. Dinette for four adults that will convert comfortable bed. Small kitchen sink with 30 gallon fresh water and manual pump also lower built in Icebox and good storage. Has small head (no toilet in it now) porta potti or marine head will work. There is a thru hull water source for marine head. Has upper and lower drive stations with gages. Upper seats two adults and has complete railing and large windshield. The lower station has windshield wipers.All running and anchor lamps in working order as well as interior cabin lights. Cabin upholstery is very good with excellent headliner and good carpet. Huge aft deck with fish well in rear floor and full walk around with railing. Short flybridge with easy 3 step up. Aft entry either side with easy step over. OMC 350 chevy with direct drive, Has had new water impeller, starter, oil change and filters. Dual batteries with perko.Motor has good oil pressure no heating problems. Motor has either has a bad valve,rings or cams not sure.Will start and sounds good at about 1000 rpm but does have good deal of blowby but no bad noises. Transmission works well.No blue smoke.Has twin 34 gallon fuel tanks with over 50 gallons of fuel in it now. I bought the trailer for the boat and it has not been fitted to it yet but its a quality EZ loader thats totally adjustable and has surge brakes and decent tires. Boat and trailer have clean California titles and current tags. I reserve the right to stop auction at any time as it is for sale locally also.
