I purchased 'Maverick' from a dentist in New England who pampered the boat (kept it on a lift) for a number of years before I purchased it. I was looking for a boat that met some stringent conditions: (1) could be trailered from Great Lakes to Florida, (2) easy to launch, recover, and had a mast raising system, (3) could be kept at home during the off-season, (4) had wheel steering and inboard diesel, (5) could be sailed to Bahamas, (6) looked great. (7) comfortable sleeping for 2. Maverick met all of my expectations and more! The Seaward 26RK is made in Florida and has a two-fold purpose: to sail in 'thin water' and to be strong enough to cross the Gulf Stream to the Caribbean. Check the specs and you'll see that it's draft is only 18 inches! I recently had 4 new tires mounted on the trailer and it pulls like a dream. When I purchased it in the New England area, I pulled it 1,000 miles to its current home with a 1/2 ton vehicle (Tahoe) and it handled super. It has an enclosed head, one of the biggest V-berths I've seen and is comfortable for 2, comes with a shore power cord for the 'creature comforts' while in a slip, and I even purchased a new flat screen TV and DVD player. It's a pleasure to sail and the retractable keel can be raised or lowered from the cockpit. It can be raised all the way up allowing it to be floated onto its trailer or lowered to 6 ft. for sailing in rougher waters and heavier winds. It has a newer (crispy) headsail and mainsail and comes with lazyjacks. It has a factory mast raising system that works like a charm. Maverick was sailed on Lake Michigan and then hauled back home where it has been winterized and is stored inside a pole barn. As you can see, there are very few of these highly desirable sailboats on the market, and the reason is because they are in such high demand. So why am I selling this awesome boat? Because I found an awesome house with a whopping down payment! I would love to keep it, but I am in the process of purchasing my 'dream home,' so my 'dream boat' needs a new owner. Happy bidding.
