The seller states there have been multiple updates and upgrades. The boat condition is excellent, with no rips, and the carpet is clean. Hull and Gelcoat would rate 9.5 out of 10. Purchased in Spring 2021, the seller updated all the electronics, trolling motor, and live wells and basically restored the boat to new in 2021. Miami International Boat Show with Bobby Unser February introduced 46 Cougar raceboat. Steve was a late driver change and replaced Dave Bell who had undergone open heart surgery the previous day. They were also on board when the Sun Coast to Gold Coast record (originally established by Kyle Petty) was broken in 1998. That record would be a precursor to the Miami to Nassau to Miami record run which is documented in this video. On Monday morning June 15 1998 the crew of Harry Allen throttle man Steve Kildahl driver Kevin Brown navigator and Rich Quandt crew chief left the Marriot Miami Marina and headed out Government Cut (MacArthur Causeway) to set three new American Power Boat Association world records. Dave Bell Great Lakes Executive Vice President was in the drivers seat with Harry at the throttles Rich Quandt crew chief and navigator and Eric Lavine as the onboard technician. Bob Hallengren of Caterpillar and Bobby Chan of Ringhaver provided valuable assistance in preparing standard production engines for their extended duty. 1998 Spirit of America set 2 world records Tampa to Miami and Miami-Nassau-Miami in May and June. John Cosker Conner Marine and John Pompi Marine Performance were also key participants in the vessel design construction and upfit. the Spirit of America project was a culmination of Harry’s long time interest in offshore power boat racing which started with Cummin’s Engine Company in 1965 along with his dream of piloting the fastest boat from Miami to Nassau and back. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1974 Switzer Hugger with a 1974 Mercury 850 85 HP outboard. Floor was replaced from foot plate in bow to transition in stern where gas tanks sit with 3/4 marine grade plywood. This boat has been family owned since original purchase, has less than 15 seasons in almost 40 years. Reupholstered red/black marbleized leather seats have 7 seasons of use since install, new floor and carpet have 7 seasons use since install. 1970 Sterling trailer and custom bow to stern cover included seen in pictures. This boat is Very fast for its size! Fiberglass & gel coat are in good shape and transom is strong. I have the original prop that came on the motor that you can have as a spare. There are two 6 gallon gas tanks that come with the boat. Switzercraft boats were hand built in Crystal Lake, Illinois and have a rich racing tradition. This boat has a shallow draw and the bow rides very low in the water as seen in pictures. Issues: There are a couple of chips in the fiberglass above the water line at the stern (see pictures). The Engine turns over but does not fire. The starter engages but it appears there is no spark (plugs replaced with no effect) gas is getting to the engine. The engine fired-up and ran last May while hooked up to a hose with a flush attachment, I had a prospective buy later in the summer but was unable to get the engine to run again. Boat is being sold with engine in 'Non-Working' condition. Feel free to make an offer.Sale is 'as is' with no warranties or guarantees.
