This 1987 Gulf Cutter Sailboat is 1 of 400 built in the USA by Gulf Marine Products/Capital Yachts, Inc. Bill Garden designed the perfect Pacific Northwest cruiser when he drew up the Gulf 32. There are 2 steering stations, one on the stern and one inside the cabin. With her inside steerage, she is ready for the coldest wettest days, and with her rather large and open cockpit she offers up the world to you when the conditions are amazing. The cockpit provides you access to the storage compartments, wheel steering pedestal with auxiliary controls. The owner reports this Gulf is easy to sail single-handed. The full-length keel holds the course when sailing. The roller furling jib is great for changing the size of the jib quickly. The raised pilothouse has a sit-down chart table, easily accessible electrical panels, inside steering station, and auxiliary controls to Starboard. A 1980 Tayana 37 US Coast Guard documented blue water cruiser sailing the North East, Bermuda, and Southern waters. This boat is very clean. The boat is cutter rigged with working jib, a 150 jib, staysail and new main sail. All sails are hank-on. A large well insulated ice box which has a Sea Frost engine driven compressor, however, the compressor needs replacement or a conversion to electric. A Dickinson diesel heater keeps one warm when needed.Original teak decks laid over fiberglass appear sound with no leaks. Chain plates are new with no current leaks. Engine, Yanmar 3QM30, 30 HP, 1745 hours based upon an hour meter installed by the 2nd owner when the engine was overhauled in 1998. Injectors were inspected and rebuilt in 2009. Engine again hauled and inspected with new zinc based paint, engine mounts, engine manifold riser, head, and LPG solenoid in 2010. Recommended up grades by new owner might include a hot water heater, roller furling jib and staysail, and electric refrigeration. The PPS shaft kit should be replaced (new, on board under chart table). Boat on the hard from 2011 to the spring of 2015 spending the summer cruising Maine waters. Easy to show as the boat is in indoor storage. Looking for a new owner who appreciates the soundness of Tayana 37’s and likes working on boats. Lot’s or gear ans spare parts.
