1968 CAL 34 CAL 34, 1968, Yanmar diesel, in the water and ready to sail, for sale in Stamford, Connecticut. The C William Lapworth designed Cal 34 is a successful cruiser/racer; 347 hulls were built between 1968 and 1975. This is one of the models that built the reputation of the CAL name and Jensen shipyard for strong, easy sailing classic yachts, built with integrity. CALs are known for their lasting quality, roomy interior, great headroom, and today are popular for live aboard. Baka is a fine example of this class. She sleeps 6 below in the traditional forepeak (2), main salon (2) and after berths (2). The head is forward, separating the forepeak from the main salon, marine toilet to starboard, sink and vanity to port.  The port side dinette seats 6 or sleeps 2. The linear galley is to Starboard with a large top opening ice box, CNG 3 burner cook top and oven on either side of the stainless sink. Aft are two pilot berths great for sleeping in a seaway or entirely too convenient for extra storage. On deck, Baka’s keel stepped mast is not original though we do not know when it was replaced. Rod rigging and the roller furling is clearly also newer. She is tiller steering in a large cockpit. All lines lead to the cockpit. Decks are plenty wide to easy passage forward. Sails are Dacron, a little tired but serviceable. The Yanmar 3 GM diesel is a replacement of the original Atomic Four, again not sure when the repower was accomplished, engine hours unknown, which starts easily and runs well. Baka needs some cosmetic work both above and below decks. She is a good candidate for a live aboard and is perfectly capable of near shore cruising. She is a fine value at the offered price.

1985 Hallberg-Rassy 42 The Hallberg-Rassy 42E is a powerful all-ocean vessel.  A manageable roller furling sloop rig with removable cutter stay for a staysail or storm-sail. The deck layout is completely functional at sea or at anchor. The HR42E is an ocean going home designed to be self-sufficient. All systems are accessible and well thought out. No other sailing yachts have won more awards for design and build quality. The center cockpit is well protected by the extremely desirable hardtop dodger and windshield with opening center section; the cockpit is warm and dry even the most extreme conditions. The cockpit coamings are wide and capped with teak.     This vessel has been well cared for since she was new. Teak decks were removed and expertly replaced with beautiful low maintenance non-skid. The center cockpit is equally comfortable for lounging or sailing. Like all Hallberg-Rassy’s the cockpit is placed relatively low in the boat which makes for a nicer motion in a seaway, and also allows the boom to be placed lower to keep mainsail center of effort low. Also, the companionway ladder is shorter and transition from cockpit to interior is much easier. The cockpit seats are overlaid with teak and a removable teak grating covers the cockpit sole. A windshield with opening center section protects the cockpit and a hard dodger provides further shelter. The cockpit coamings are wide and capped teak, making them comfortable for sitting. Varnished outer chart tables are on either side of the companionway and sailing, navigation, and engine instruments are mounted below the windshield. No lines penetrate this area keeping this forward cockpit area sheltered and dry even when beating into large seas "Hoops of Steel" has been well cared for since she was New in 1985. Her first owner had her for 17 years when current owner bought her in 2014. Some of her recent upgrades include her teak deck professionally removed and replaced by beautiful low maintenance nonskid. Interior reupholstered , New cushion design aft cabin to allow for King size bed 2013, Custom cockpit cushions,  Custom mount on davits for solar panels,  Raymarine ST60 wind, speed, depth. "Hoops of Steel" presents a rare opportunity to get in to boat of the highest quality, in great condition, at a very attractive price.

ALLIED PRINCESS 36 1979/80 About the Allied Princess: She is a robust character ketch that does not pretend to be anything other than a simple, comfortable cruising boat. In truth, it is a boat only a cruiser could love. Designed by Arthur Edmunds and first introduced in 1972, the Princess enjoyed a 10-year production run during which about 140 hulls were built, which likely makes it the most successful boat produced by Allied during its 22 years of existence (1962-84). Of all the boats Allied built–including the Luders 33, sailed by the famous boy-cruiser Robin Lee Graham; the Seawind 30, first fiberglass boat to circumnavigate; and the Princess is the one that still commands the most loyal following among modern cruising sailors. Though the Princess is undeniably a chunky craft, it is not unattractive. Its somewhat exaggerated sheer line leads up to a high bow, but blends nicely with its moderate overhangs and shoal-draft cutaway full keel. The boat’s performance under sail, though is smooth and steady. The Princess is a bit beamy for a vessel of its vintage, and this combined with the shallow keel and modestly sized ketch rig makes it slow to windward but when the seas kick-up and other light weight boats seek shelter the Princess comes into her own. A ketch-rigged Princess is very versitle and will sail best on a reach. The long keel tracks well, the ketch rig is easy to balance, and together with the non-reversing worm-gear steering found on most Princesses, makes it very easy to leave the helm unattended for long periods. The boat rarely buries its rail, and otherwise has a comfortable motion in a seaway. As with all boats built by Allied, construction is very strong and simple. The Princess hull is solid handlaid fiberglass–24-ounce woven roving and mat with a surface layer of cloth under the gelcoat–with thicker laminate at the turn of the bilge and down low around the keel. The ballast is lead, glassed over and encapsulated within the keel. The deck is balsa-cored. All bulkheads are tabbed directly to the hull. The rudder stock, impressively, is bronze. For coastal or offshore cruising the Princess is certainly one that deserves a look, she will take you anywhere you want to go in comfort and safety. It will serve admirably, too, as a coastal cruiser in any deep-water locale, as long as you aren’t too worried about getting places in a hurry. With its stout construction and easy motion it is also a good candidate for bluewater cruising. I am the third owner of the Princess, owner #1 was a doctor whom kept the boat in Va. On the hard 6mos out of the year, owner #2 bought the boat in 98 and cruised til 2000 when I purchase the boat and have had her since doing most of the up-grades.
