Excellent Price....need to sell...moving!!! I am selling my 1978 Californian LRC Trawler with twin 6.354 Perkins Turbo Diesel that start right up and run good, not to mention they have less than a 1000 hours showing on Hobbs hour meters for both engines. Both engines just had new impellers replaced for periodic maintenance. Boat has a great layout and plenty of space for 5 people to sleep. Nice galley with tall Blomberg stainless refrigerator, Microwave, Stainless propane stove with oven and deep stainless steel sink. Also included are 2 LED TV's, dvd players, stereo, Raytheon radar and Raytheon depth/fish finder, Ideal Windlass with deck switch, New Port and Starboard LED navigation lights, All lights thoughout interior of boat have been changed over to LED for less power consumption. Dinghy davit/crane on the front of boat works well to lift dinghy onto bow. Boat is not in perfect condition as it could use some TLC/Paint, etc. Bimini Isinglass is in bad condition and needs to be replaced. Sale of boat comes with an Achilles Dinghy w/4hp Mariner. The boat is listed as being a project, however it has great potential. As seen in the photos there is some minor surface rust, however the seller states the hull is structurally sound. The outdrives look to be in good operational condition and show no damage. The cabin is cluttered but shows no excessive wear and tear. The helm looks neat and functional. The bridge will need the arch installed and the deck could use new paint. The forward head needs cosmetic work. The interior needs some light cleaning and cosmetic repairs. HISTORY: Vaya Con Dios was built by the De Alm Shipyard in Holland and launched in 1992. The Vanderhoeven hull and superstructure were originally designed to serve as a North Sea fishing trawler. After many years service in the North Sea, and at the request of potential buyers, the the superstructure design was modified so the redesigned vessels could serve as a seaworthy pleasure craft for the boating public. Upon completion, her German owner sailed his new vessel from Holland to the Spanish port of Almerimar on the Costa Del Sol. I purchased her from the original owner in 2001 while on a circumnavigation aboard my Peterson 46, Black Rose. THE CROSSING: Having two boats but not wanting to make the Atlantic crossing twice, I signed on a South African crew and the four of us departed late in the season and towed Black Rose across the Atlantic by way of Gibraltar, Cabo Verde and the Canary Islands. Being in no rush and wishing to conserve fuel, we made the Atlantic crossing using one engine at a time, averaging 5.5 knots swapping engines every couple of days. We completed the 4000 mile crossing from Spain to Trinidad in thirty days. Upon arrival in Trinidad, Vaya Con Dios was laid up in the port city of Chaguaramous until the following season. Upon our return, we spent several months island hopping through the Caribbean and, after transiting the Panama Canal, we continued our cruise up the west coast of Central America and Mexico. DESCRIPTION VESSEL DRAFT: 6' 1" DISPLACEMENT: 47 tons. CONSTRUCTION: The hull is double-chined and double welded with the inside weld left unground for additional strength. The hull and superstructure are built with Lloyds grade A approved steel. The hull has a full-length keel with twin side-keels protecting the propeller shafts. Each propeller is surrounded by a protective ring of steel to minimize possible damage caused by such flotsam as fishing nets and lines. All railings, bollards, anchor-chain tubes, upper-deck ladder and water tank are constructed of high-grade 316 stainless steel. ENGINES: The commercial diesel engines were made in Holland with approximately 2200 hours on them since a major overhaul. They are massive in size and designed to run for thousands of additional hours. They start easily and run strong. I spend most weekends on the vessel and while she's been my "condo on the water" for the last twelve years, I run the engines weekly. TANKAGE: Fuel tanks- The main fuel-tank is located in the midships bilge and holds 1585 gallons. The secondary fuel-tank, holding 530 gallons, is located in the engine-room bilge just aft of the main fuel tank.The two gravity feed fuel-tanks are located on the forward engine room bulkhead and hold 100 gallons. Running at 8 or 9 knots with both engines will have a significant increase in fuel consumption with a corresponding reduction in range. Located in a great slip in Marina del Rey, CA. This Californian Trawler was built in the USA, in Santa Ana California in 1978 You will experience a SOLID quality ride on the ocean, with this classic, quality-built trawler. (You are getting American Quality here – not like those cheap Taiwanese trawlers made with substandard parts by 6 year old kids in a sweatshop) This can be your vacation home on the water. Only 10 minutes from LAX airport, and convenient to all best parts of Southern California. Three (3) huge decks - plenty of room and easy to walk around. Great for parties. Bathroom with walk in shower+bathtub. Plus another head with walk in shower adjacent to 2 bunkbeds upfront. This boat would make a good rental on AirBNB. I originally advertised it there at $149/night and had quite a bit of interest, (but decided it's not my thing to have strangers sleeping on my boat). You can probably rent it out for 10 nights/month and cover all your costs. The engines now have about 900 ORIGINAL hours on them. That is almost like a new boat – when you consider this is a 33 year old boat!! The boat had only 2 previous owners. Previous owner had it for nearly 30 years before I purchased it in October 2010. Please shop around and compare similar boats on the market and you will see the value offered here. This yacht has 2 (full size) beds in the main sleeping area along with a nice size bathroom with shower and bathtub. There is also a second area in the front with 2 bunk beds and a bathroom with shower. Importantly, this boat DOES NOT SMELL! (I remember when I was shopping for boats and about 90% of them had that funky boat smell. The good news is that this boat is NOT one of them.) The carpet, and drapes on the boat are from original owner, and are due for a replacement. I was planning on replacing these, but will leave that up to you, the new owner to choose exactly what colors/fabrics you like after you buy the boat. NOTE: some of the photos show zebra/leapoard fabric on the upholstery. My girlfriend put that on because she thought it was more fun than the original 70's fabric.
