You can run a moisture meter anywhere you want on "Sophisti-Kat" and you will find a boat as dry as it was the day it came from the factory. Beware of any boat being sold that is already in the water and make sure to have the owner place it on “The Hard” before making your purchase so you can make sure you are getting a sound boat. Many older boats are placed in the water when being sold to hide blisters and saturated fiberglass. Welcome to my auction for "Sophisti-Kat" a 1985 NONSUCH 30 ULTRA. This is a very highend limited production sailboat built by Hinterholler Yachts, Ontario, Canada and designed by Mark Ellis. While there may be other NONSUCH 30's for sale on the market, this boat is extremely unique for two specific reasons: 1) Most of these boats were heavily cruised or raced; "SOPHISTI-KAT" was never cruised and was never raced. She spent most of her life on her mooring and was used for light family sailing and barbeques. The pictures clearly demonstrate this. 2) The other reason that this boat is unique is because it was purchased and built to my father's specifications meaning it is the "ULTRA" layout, not the standard layout and was equipped for global travel even though it rarely left the mooring. This has a Counter top, Mirror and storage area behind sliding Lucite doors. Under the counter is storage space plus three vertical Drawers. It has access to the shower and Head towards the starboard side prior to the folding Doors. The Main Cabin has access to this area on the other side of the Doors. The Shower Salon and Head Areas are separated by a Shower Curtain. There is a teak seat and storage area within the Shower Salon. The Head area contains a Counter that includes a Stainless Steel Sink. Under the sink is storage space and access to the Bronze thru hull fittings. Located above the Head and Counter is a Shelf with sliding Lucite Doors for Bath Room Items Main Cabin The Galley is L shaped, and located on the Port side with a large Counter top. A deep Stainless Steel Sink is supported with both Manual and Automatic systems to provide Water Access. Located below the Sink is a stowage locker to store, Cleaners and various other articles. Also provides access to Bronze thru Hole fittings, and pump for different water flow settings. Adjacent to Port are four vertical drawers to accommodate further Storage. Above this area, is where the Paloma Propane water heating system is located. It provides Hot water, thru out the vessel. This area also includes a Shelf with sliding Lucite Doors to store Wine Glasses and other Galley Items. Port to the sink is the cold storage area provided by the Seafrost Refrigeration System that eliminates the need to store ice. Above this area to Port is a large shelf behind Lucite sliding Doors. It provides enough room for Dishes, Cups, Glasses, Canned products and other various supplies for meals. Aft of the cold storage area is a Gimbaled Hiller Range Stove and Oven. Aft is a 6’6 Foot Settee and behind the support cushions are two storage areas. Under the Settee is the other water tank plus additional storage. Aft of the Settee is a Hanging Closet. Opposite on the Starboard side is a 6, 7 ft. L shaped settee and dinette set up. When the dining table is lowered the area converts to a double berth in the standing position the table is also used for Navigational purposes. The Espar heating System Thermostat is located upper left of Dining Area Bulkhead. Sail & Canvas Sail area is an incredible 540 Sq. feet, with two reefing points. Raising the Sail is simplified via the use of the Master Electronic Winch. In addition to Raising sail, all aspects of necessary sail adjustments, including, reefing are controlled within the Cockpit. When the Sail is lowered, it settles into Lazy Jack Lines. The Sail Cover is in good condition and the Mainsail was always covered and never exposed to the Sun or other elements. The Dodger is in excellent condition. It's custom made with openings to provide good airflow. In foul weather, it has Eisenglass inserts for full enclosure which have never been used. The matching Bimini is of special design. When not in use, it uses track and slides to disappear behind the aft Combing. Special designed Teak Boards cover the Cockpit Sole .The section behind the Helm is raised and curved to comfortably stand depending on point of Sail. The Helm has a compass and Teak Table. There are three lockers in the Cockpit, Port and Starboard, with easy access to the Engine, the third aft for two Propane tanks. Extra lines etc. The folding swim Ladder is located on the Stern. Entrance to Below Deck is via Lucite Companionway Doors. Inside, on the Upper Starboard side is the outlet for the Master Electronic Winch. Nearby, is a DC outlet to accommodate, charging cell phones or other appliances. Custom made Cockpit Cushions cover the entire seating area, when not in use; there are 6 floatable cushions available. Thank you for taking a moment to view our latest Yacht offering. This Classic 1965 Hatteras 50 Motoryacht is a quality-built Motoryacht from one of America's premier builders. This exceptional Hatteras offers a lavish interior with an expansive salon and boasts a large galley with dinette and home-sized appliances. She offers three spacious staterooms one forward and two aft. The master aft stateroom is extremely spacious and comfortable, with an island queen bed, complete head with a newer shower. The forward stateroom is spacious with abundant storage, entertainment center, and ensuite head. Without doubt, the Hatteras 50/53 Motor Yacht is the most successful medium sized motor yacht ever built, with over 600 of them between their various incarnations. They were in production from 1965 to 1989, a full twenty-four years. This yacht’s enduring popularity comes from a combination of excellent quality, good design, and a great use of space. Power is sufficient for pleasure cruising with a pair of 8V71 Naturals. Whether as a summer home or a vacation getaway, this boat has been meticulously maintained and run every season. This boat runs as well as it looks. The hulls and superstructure are built like a tank with the bottoms about an inch thick with balsa cored sides and decks. These are first rate production motor yachts. Service requirements are relatively minor if the previous owner has kept up with maintenance. Virtually any yard can work on these boats and is familiar with them. That's the advantage of long-term production. With her 15'10" beam this is a big 50 footer and the layout takes maximum advantage of that space. Most people love the galley down layout with the dinette opposite which is great for informal meals. The galley is big enough, and well enough equipped with a full sized range top, while still having adequate counter space as well as plenty of storage space. The owner's stateroom is more than adequate and the guest staterooms are ample as well. Heads and shower size is more than adequate. The Hatteras 50 Motor Yacht is large enough to provide extremely comfortable liveaboard features, yet can still be owner operated. This standard accommodation arrangement provides three large staterooms, an aft master, mid guest and a forward staff or guest, all with ensuite heads.. This vessel is truly pristine in looks, exceptionally equipped and is meticulously professionally maintained. Accomodations SALON, MAIN DECK Salon access is via port or starboard side sliding doors. The large Salon is the nucleus of this popular vessel. The distinct Lower Helm is situated in the forward quarter and has been redesigned to incorporate well with the living area for time spent underway or at dock. The salon is ample sized and features a comfortable convertible sofa and flat screen TV. All windows feature blinds. The headliner and carpet were replaced in the summer of 2005. The salon has 1 newer AC/heater unit ensuring a comfortable environment no matter the time of year. The lower helm includes engine synchronizers, newer Standard Horizon Navigation and Radar with east coast maps. VHF radio in the panel port of the helm. In the overhead panel is the remote control for the 1 mile searchlight, controls for the 3 electric windshield wipers and Buell air horn with air supplied from a dedicated compressor on the port engine. AFT DECK The canvas enclosed aft deck (new 2007) is accessed through dual French teak doors with fresh varnish in 2014. The side rails were also refinished in 2014 with fresh varnish. The aft deck also has a Cruisair Heater/ Air Conditioner to allow for extended season and cool environment on hot summer days. Modern casual entertaining space includes all weather wicker sectional with tan cushions, a colorful rug and coffee tables. Folding chairs and teak casual table provide a comfortable area to socialize during nice weather. The swim platform has a swing down teak ladder. Access to the rudder hydraulics and associated hardware is located below decks. FORWARD STATEROOM The Forward Guest Stateroom has upper and lower berths to starboard and a fully renovated ensuite head with shower. A very large access hatch provides significant ventilation and light for this compartment. This room has its own air conditioner/heater system. AFT STATEROOM Walk around queen bed is located in this room including an ensuite head with new molded shower. Significant storage drawers with bedside tables and a large double door hanging closet. A dressing table with ample lighting is in the forward port corner. GUEST STATEROOM Two twin beds combine with a pull out trundle to convert to queen sleeping accommodations. Closet has been upgrade to ensuite head with shower and vacuflush toilet. LAUNDRY ROOM The hall bath has been converted to a Laundry room with full size washer (new 2014) and electric 220 volt dryer. Mechanical Equipment: The Hatteras 50 foot motoryacht is known for it’s unique dual, stand-up engine rooms. Fore and aft doors provide convenient access to the main engines, hot water heater, hydraulic steering components and Compressors for the CruiseAire A/C units. It has the black scorpion motor wake tower Custom sound throughout that really rocks hard ($$3500 sound system) Has the centurion bling bling package has perfect pass air dam front filler deck 3 ballasts tanks to set the perfect wake button in carpets high tower bimini top fitted cover upgraded by centurion recluse captains seat board racks towel dryer cockpit heat (yes a heater in a wakeboat ( offered by centurion ) tower lights and speakers all professionally installed by centurion Factory fade tint. Bulkhead cooler. This baot again has every option available this year and then some . I am positive I have left accessories out but again it has every option ...plus. We gave $65000 for this boat new. We have kept it garaged year round and has been babied with no problems of any kind. It is super clean. It also has a boatmate matching 2007 tandem axel trailor with brakes aluminum alloys and fold away tongue with matching full size spare. Will let all the goodies go with it as well including a couple high dolllar boards both wake and wakesurf boards as well as several jackets several rope setups and a 4 person tube. Please contact the owner directly @ 208-342-4207 o [email protected]... 1958 SeaBolt This vintage one of a kind 14 foot runabout with a 64 inch beam was handcrafted in Pennsylvania in 1958 by a Master craftsman out of Straight Grain fir, Mahogany, Oak and Mahogany Marine plywood. Originally designed and built as the prototype for the start of a boat company, this boat was used on the Rivers and lakes around Western Pennsylvania and the Lakes of Upstate NewYork from 1958 through 1966. Rock solid construction with all Solid Oak Ribs and Battens and Solid Oak reinforced Chines. The Gunwales and deck Materials are solid Mahogany. Deck inlays are Solid straight grain fir. Mahogany Marine Grade 3/8" plywwod on the bottom of the hull and Mahogany Marine grade 1/4" Plywood for the sides of the hull. Entire Hull covered in Fiberglass. On the Solid Mahogany dash you have a steering wheel by Perko, a pull switch for the running lights to the right of the steering wheel and a pushbutton for the Airhorn at the center. The airhorn still has the original air cannister connected to it and it still works! There are snaps across the top of the windscreen to attach the leading edge of the included bimini top. The 1950's era Mercury Kiekhaefer Mark 55 Thunderbolt Four 40 HP Pull Start engine with steering and throttle connections is connected to the Quicksilver Throttle/Transmission control unit by Kiekhaefer with kill switch located at the drivers seat. It's fed by 2 Mercury portable/removable 6 gallon gas tanks under the decking at the stern accessible through the removable hatch on the rear decking directly in front of the engine. All of this sits atop a single axle bunk trailer from PolarKraft with a spare tire/wheel This boat is in fantastic shape and would require minimal work to complete. The hull is water tight and in great shape. Here are the things I would do... The straight grain fir decking could stand to have the caulking between the wood redone. (When the boat was relocated to Boise from Pennsylvania, the difference in humidity caused the caulking to shrink and pull away from the boards a bit exposing some gaps between the caulking and the wood. Minor repair) Fuel system Make sure tanks are clean, They have been in storage for many years. They were drained and cleaned before they were put in storage. Electrical system/Lights...replace the battery and ensure all bulbs are working. Motor... A new impeller was installed about 10 years ago and the engine had great pull on the starter cord and compression. Should be good to go but check it over. Maintained by a trained aircraft mechanic. Windscreen... It's plexiglass. Polish it up and reinstall. Need a couple of nuts to fasten it to the deck. Water test the completed rig to ensure all is good, register and enjoy on a beautiful lake. This boat used to pull waterskiers and still will. My plans for it included the light restoration described above and then enjoy it in McCall Idaho while cruising around on Payette lake looking at the lake homes. Originally designed and built as the prototype for the start of a boat company, this boat was used on the Rivers and lakes around Western Pennsylvania and the Lakes of Upstate NewYork from 1958 through 1966. Rock solid construction with all Solid Oak Ribs and Battens and Solid Oak reinforced Chines. The Gunwales and deck Materials are solid Mahogany. Deck inlays are Solid straight grain fir. Mahogany Marine Grade 3/8" plywwod on the bottom of the hull and Mahogany Marine grade 1/4" Plywood for the sides of the hull. Entire Hull covered in Fiberglass. On the Solid Mahogany dash you have a steering wheel by Perko, a pull switch for the running lights to the right of the steering wheel and a pushbutton for the Airhorn at the center. The airhorn still has the original air cannister connected to it and it still works! There are snaps across the top of the windscreen to attach the leading edge of the included bimini top. The 1950's era Mercury Kiekhaefer Mark 55 Thunderbolt Four 40 HP Pull Start engine with steering and throttle connections is connected to the Quicksilver Throttle/Transmission control unit by Kiekhaefer with kill switch located at the drivers seat. It's fed by 2 Mercury portable/removable 6 gallon gas tanks under the decking at the stern accessible through the removable hatch on the rear decking directly in front of the engine. All of this sits atop a single axle bunk trailer from PolarKraft with a spare tire/wheel This boat is in fantastic shape and would require minimal work to complete. The hull is water tight and in great shape. Here are the things I would do... The straight grain fir decking could stand to have the caulking between the wood redone. (When the boat was relocated to Boise from Pennsylvania, the difference in humidity caused the caulking to shrink and pull away from the boards a bit exposing some gaps between the caulking and the wood. Minor repair) Fuel system Make sure tanks are clean, They have been in storage for many years. They were drained and cleaned before they were put in storage. Electrical system/Lights...replace the battery and ensure all bulbs are working. Motor... A new impeller was installed about 10 years ago and the engine had great pull on the starter cord and compression. Should be good to go but check it over. Maintained by a trained aircraft mechanic. Windscreen... It's plexiglass. Polish it up and reinstall. Need a couple of nuts to fasten it to the deck. Water test the completed rig to ensure all is good, register and enjoy on a beautiful lake. This boat used to pull waterskiers and still will. My plans for it included the light restoration described above and then enjoy it in McCall Idaho while cruising around on Payette lake looking at the lake homes.
