1981 MacGregor Venture of Newport 23 Sailboat. Fully restored in 2012-2013, only selling since we need the money for a house. This is a 23 foot trailer-sailor, with a cast iron retractable swing keel. Sleeps 4-5, and has a galley with sink, room for a stove, plumbed in toilet in the separated head. This is the traditional style, modeled to look like a pilot cutter. Very rare, and a very fast boat for its size. -Cutter rig with 2 jibs -Lightweight fiberglass hull with 1,000lb cast iron swing keel -6 foot long cockpit with self bailing drain -Rigged for single handed sailing -Kickup rudder -7.5HP Honda 4-stroke outboard As part of the restoration, the following was done: -Repainted exterior with Interlux Marine Brightside paint -Repainted interior with Interlux Marine Brightside paint -All woodwork replaced and varnished with Interlux Schooner Gold Varnish -Bowsprit replaced and expanded, pine core and finished in maple -Taffrails replaced with custom maple ones -Tiller refinished mahogany with 8 coats of varnish -Electrical system replaced with all wiring, electrical panel, battery and charger -New LED lighting inside, with red LED for nighttime sailing -All new lines, from New England Rope, all color coded -All new stainless rigging fittings (West Marine, $60 each!) -New Uniden marine radio, wiring, and mast antenna -New JVC stereo and speakers -Bulkheads replaced and finished in 5 coats of varnish -Interior lined with varnished cedar tongue and groove boards -New galley table in mahogany -Galley top refinished with granite top -New marine toiliet -Cushions redone in furniture grade paisley print -Seals around front hatch replaced -Exterior non slip coatings applied -New anchor, anchor roller, and stainless hardware -New interior hatchway covers -New trailer winch -New bottom paint -New bilge pump -New cockpit drain hose -New marine lighted compass -New masthead light This was a top to bottom restoration, and nothing was left untouched. The jibs (2) are approx. 5 years old and like new, the main is in good condition but older. Includes all the original lines for emergency spares, several life jackets, trailer with newer tires, new fenders, new winch, new lights, and current Mass reg. The motor is a 1983 Honda 7.5HP 4 stroke outboard, which is stored indoors off season. Never saw salt water before 2013, and refinished exterior and recently serviced by Merrimac Marine. Runs like new, and perfect for this size vessel. Current Mass reg of the boat and trailer, and ready to go! The only thing this boat needs is a new owner, and is a beauty. Lots and lots of compliments wherever we go. It will do approx 8 knots, which is fast for its size, with the 2 jibs. A lot of fun to sail, and no need to pay for a mooring. This is designed to have the mast raised and taken down easily with 2 people in about 20 minutes. The total weight including trailer, boat, and loaded with gear is approx. 4,000lbs, so it can be towed by many smaller vehicles as well. Willing to deliver within a reasonable distance, and launch if needed as well (in case you don't have a tow vehicle and want to moor/dock it).
