For sale is a custom built Flounder boat. The boat was put together in 2013/2014 by my dad (retired engineer) and I. It is a one of a kind boat and has had no expense spared. The design of most systems on this boat are well over the top and could never be done by anyone who builds these for a living (they would go out of business as could never recoup their time and materials expense!). It was a labor of love. We have spent well over $40,000 and well over a 1,000 hours building this rig. Read on and take a look at the pictures to see the quality of this work. Unfortunately, we have used it less than 10 hours since we built it. We just have not been able to make the time to get out more often. We have reluctantly decided to sell it. This boat would be perfect for a guide service or for someone planning heavy recreational usage. The foundation of the boat is a custom ordered 2013 Weld-Craft 1870. It has a 70" wide floor and a 95" beam. It has an extended flush front deck, non-skid aluminum floors and sides, a tunnel hull and huge pontoons/sponsoons. Full boat length is just at 20' and it has a 10 person capacity rating. This is a super wide and stable platform yet light enough to push/pole around. The boat floats in 3-4 inches of water and feels like you never left the dock when in the shallows . Power is a 2013 Yamaha 90hp 4 Stroke. It has under 10 hrs use on it and has not even had its first service. It is under factory warranty until March, 2016. It’s been thoroughly flushed with freshwater after the few occasions taken out. The air motor is a 2013 Honda 13hp with factory alternator. Gas for all both motors had Yamaha ring free and fuel stabilizer pre-mixed. There are a few things we are particularly proud of in this boat. 1) The wiring and electrical (and there is a lot of it on a boat like this) - none of it is exposed, absolutely everything that could be hidden was. Every connection is marine grade and shrink sealed. 2) The air motor has a hydraulic steering system (just like the outboard) with remote throttle and start. Again all the mechanicals are hidden. It is one slick setup that took hundreds of hours to make. But will be mechanically bulletproof. 3) The lighting systems are a combination of below and above water, and are also completely & fully removable off of the boat with al mechanical and electrical quick disconnects. All systems use LED (low draw) and are self sufficient off of the alternators (don’t outdraw the alt.) All controls are on the console. Below water lights are depth adjustable. Side driving lights lower 90 degrees to illuminate the water from straight above (while gigging). 4) The fabrication work is second to none. From the front rails with the integrated steering column, to the air motor tripod which was designed to have a small footprint and not take over the back of the boat like most others I have seen do. Other fabrication included a reinforcement plate across the bow, steps to the front deck, gunwale channel for wiring and a leaning post. The welds are first class and much of the boat was repainted after fabrication. I do have a full list of everything on this boat (which is how I know what we spent), but here is a list of the major items: · Wedcraft Hull: $9,500 · Yamaha Outboard: $9,500 · Honda Air motor, Arrow composite prop: $1,500 · Aluminum fabrication: $6,500 · Lights: All LED, 8 Underwater Stainless made by ultimate gig lights (9 bulb each), above water aluminum 12 (Taco brand marine grade 3 bulbs each) and 6 (marine grade 12 bulb each). All quick connect removable. It took us about a year to build this boat and over 1,000 hours of labor is not factored in. There is probably another $2,000 in small hardware that I did not itemize. This is a rare chance to own one of the nicest and cleanest built and equipped flounder boats ever made. You will not be able to take it anywhere without someone asking a ton of questions about it. I have clear Texas titles for the Boat and Motor. The trailer will be sold with a bill of sale only. I am not providing my phone number in this listing to avoid advertisers. If you are seriously interested and have some questions, drop me your phone number through Ebay and I will be glad to call you. I require a $1,000 deposit within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment is due within 7 days by wire transfer, cashier's check or cash (in person). If you are not okay with these terms, please don't bid. The boat is located in Sugar Land, Texas 77479. As I have also listed the boat for sale locally, this listing can be withdrawn at anytime.

"PAYMENTS" CORRECTION: This vessel is not for sale by auction. As such, the $2,000 deposit is not due until buyer commits to making the purchase subject to inspection, sea-trial, and out of the water survey if he so chooses. Said deposit shall be unconditionally refundable for a period of seven days. Payment in full shall be due upon close of escrow. HISTORY: Vaya Con Dios was built by the De Alm Shipyard in Holland and launched in 1992. The Vanderhoeven hull and superstructure were originally designed to serve as a North Sea fishing trawler. After many years service in the North Sea, and at the request of potential buyers, the the superstructure design was modified so the redesigned vessels could serve as a seaworthy pleasure craft for the boating public. Upon completion, her German owner sailed his new vessel from Holland to the Spanish port of Almerimar on the Costa Del Sol. I purchased her from the original owner in 2001 while on a circumnavigation aboard my Peterson 46, Black Rose. THE CROSSING: Having two boats but not wanting to make the Atlantic crossing twice, I signed on a South African crew and the four of us departed late in the season and towed Black Rose across the Atlantic by way of Gibraltar, Cabo Verde and the Canary Islands. Being in no rush and wishing to conserve fuel, we made the Atlantic crossing using one engine at a time, averaging 5.5 knots swapping engines every couple of days. We completed the 4000 mile crossing from Spain to Trinidad in thirty days. Upon arrival in Trinidad, Vaya Con Dios was laid up in the port city of Chaguaramous until the following season. Upon our return, we spent several months island hopping through the Caribbean and, after transiting the Panama Canal, we continued our cruise up the west coast of Central America and Mexico. DESCRIPTION VESSEL DRAFT: 6' 1" DISPLACEMENT: 47 tons. CONSTRUCTION: The hull is double-chined and double welded with the inside weld left unground for additional strength. The hull and superstructure are built with Lloyds grade A approved steel. The hull has a full-length keel with twin side-keels protecting the propeller shafts. Each propeller is surrounded by a protective ring of steel to minimize possible damage caused by such flotsam as fishing nets and lines. All railings, bollards, anchor-chain tubes, upper-deck ladder and water tank are constructed of high-grade 316 stainless steel. ENGINES: The commercial diesel engines were made in Holland with approximately 2200 hours on them since a major overhaul. They are massive in size and designed to run for thousands of additional hours. They start easily and run strong. I spend most weekends on the vessel and while she's been my "condo on the water" for the last twelve years, I run the engines weekly. TANKAGE: Fuel tanks- The main fuel-tank is located in the midships bilge and holds 1585 gallons. The secondary fuel-tank, holding 530 gallons, is located in the engine-room bilge just aft of the main fuel tank. The two gravity feed fuel-tanks are located on the forward engine room bulkhead and hold 100 gallons. Total fuel-tank capacity is 2215 gallons. Water tank- The stainless steel longitudinally baffled water tank has a capacity of 660 gallons. Holding tanks- One forward tank and one aft tank, each holding 40 gallons. RANGE: This vessel's maximum range is 4430 nautical miles running on one engine at a time at an average speed of 5.5 knots. Running at 8 or 9 knots with both engines will have a significant increase in fuel consumption with a corresponding reduction in range. FUEL CONSUMPTION: The fuel consumption was slightly over 2 nautical mile/ U.S. gallon. STEERING SYSTEM: Hydraulic ANCHOR WINDLASS: LoFranz GROUND TACKLE: There are two ship's anchors as seen in photos along with 300' of 7/16 galvanized chain. BOW-THRUSTER: A new bow-thruster will be included in the sale and installed prior to close of escrow. STABILIZERS: Hydraulic in need of repair. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: 24 volt dc, 220 volt 50 cycle ac. GEN-SET: 13 kw Diesel Sole 220 v. dc 50 cycle. HEATING: Diesel furnace with radiators in each cabin. Water heater is 220 volts. WASHER/DRYER: 220 volt electric, front loading. AUTOPILOT: Autohelm 7000 ELECTRONICS: Furuno 48 mile open array. Furuno GPS. Icom VHF radio. LIFE-RAFT: Givens eight-man raft in fiberglass hard-shell case. DINGY: Avon Redcrest inflatable with wood floor. RECENT ENGINE MAINTENANCE: New transmission oil coolers and two new Johnson raw-water pumps purchased but not yet installed. There are many spare parts including an alternator, new engine belts, impellers, oil and fuel filters. Also there are numerous hand tools. INTERIOR LAYOUT: On the lower-deck, the captain's cabin and head are aft. Next is the large engine room. Forward of that are port and starboard staterooms, then the port and starboard heads, followed by the fourth stateroom at the bow. On the upper-deck forward is the wheelhouse. Aft of that is the port-side galley followed by the main salon and aft-deck. VESSEL LOCATION: Vaya Con Dios is located on a mooring at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club, Newport Beach, California. DISCLOSURE: The pictures in the photo collection are current except for the one at the yacht club dock and the last picture in the series and that is not Vaya's sister-ship.
