Miami International Boat Show with Bobby Unser February introduced 46 Cougar raceboat. Steve was a late driver change and replaced Dave Bell who had undergone open heart surgery the previous day. They were also on board when the Sun Coast to Gold Coast record (originally established by Kyle Petty) was broken in 1998. That record would be a precursor to the Miami to Nassau to Miami record run which is documented in this video. On Monday morning June 15 1998 the crew of Harry Allen throttle man Steve Kildahl driver Kevin Brown navigator and Rich Quandt crew chief left the Marriot Miami Marina and headed out Government Cut (MacArthur Causeway) to set three new American Power Boat Association world records. Dave Bell Great Lakes Executive Vice President was in the drivers seat with Harry at the throttles Rich Quandt crew chief and navigator and Eric Lavine as the onboard technician. Bob Hallengren of Caterpillar and Bobby Chan of Ringhaver provided valuable assistance in preparing standard production engines for their extended duty. 1998 Spirit of America set 2 world records Tampa to Miami and Miami-Nassau-Miami in May and June. John Cosker Conner Marine and John Pompi Marine Performance were also key participants in the vessel design construction and upfit. the Spirit of America project was a culmination of Harry’s long time interest in offshore power boat racing which started with Cummin’s Engine Company in 1965 along with his dream of piloting the fastest boat from Miami to Nassau and back. 1975 Gulfstar 43 MKII Trawler STOP! MUST READ! Before you compare this boat to any other you have to understand that this boat is different. If you have looked at a lot of older trawlers and are tired of wasting your time looking for a DRY BOAT, with NO MOLD OR MILDEW, then this is the boat for you. Aluminum frame windows, no rot, no leaks. This Gulf Star 43 Trawler has spent her entire life until 2016 in the fresh water of Lake Michigan and inside a climate controlled building all of her life except the 3 months a year she was enjoyed by her owner. Current owners have a life style change and need to let her go after a fantastic trip from Michigan to Florida and back up to Virginia. At cruising speed of 7 to 8 knots she has a total fuel consumption of 2.61 GPH. This past February she had a brand new Westerbeke 7.6 KW generator installed to specs including new sea-cocks, hoses, wiring and all. Just broken in with 54 total run hours. Perkins Engines purr. No hour data is known unfortunately but the engines have been thoroughly inspected and cannot run better. Owner is tracking hours now with GPS time. The boat has a low air draft and is perfect for the Loop. There are on going projects to finish. However none should keep you in port. She is ready to continue North or South. Please understand that you can find other Gulfstars for sale but none that are solid like this one. Price is firm. What a find! No wet decks, leaking windows, mold or mildew.

1985 De Vries Motorsailer 50 A truly exceptional DeVries motorsailer,one owner since originally built! Grotemeid is a DeVries 50 custom made to the owner request by the reputable DeVries yard in1985 in Drimlin, outside Amsterdam, Holland. The owner personally followed the construction and once the yacht was commissed and delivered, he crossed the Atlantic back to Florida.He wanted a safe & strong, easy to handle ketch with two cabins, large pilot house salon, large galley and dining area. She is a pilot house yacht, so she can also be comfortably operated from the interior, with great visibility and in the comfort of the large pilot house. The aft deck pilot station is well protected by a large bimini which allows the vessel operation with great visibility an an extremely safe environment if weather gets rough.The hull construction is with 8mm steel. The deck is painted with antiskid (never had teak deck). She offers a well equipped L shaped galley to starboard accessible by descending 3steps,which also provide access to a very comfortable semi-circular dining table, sitting 6-8 persons. The aft master cabin is one of the highlights of this boat with fullstanding headroom and a full queen size berth with ensuite head with a large vanity, shower and an electric head. The forward V-berth is spacious with plenty of storage and an ensuite head with vanity and electric head. There are two large storage areas, a pantry closet close to the forward cabin and a tool room close to the aft cabin. Both provide an amazing storage capacity.The yacht is designed for long range voyages in total autonomy.
