2001 Sport Craft 252 Express Fisherman is built for the angler who knows that the right fishing platform, along with comfort, offers a successful fishing trip. With a sturdy fiberglass enclosure and roomy cabin, everyday is a good day for fishing no matter what the weather brings! Whats nice about this boat is that the 2001 252 is for all practical purposes the same boat as the 2014. This boat is outfitted perfectly. Because, not all 13 year old boats are created equally. Most have 13 old electronics that make them feel antiquated out on the water. Not this fishing machine! It has the Raymarine C=140W MFD in the dash along with the C90W mounted on the dash. Utilizing (2) split tilted thru hull transducers (SS264) wide. Couple these with the DSM-300 1000 watt sonar and you have everything you need to find the fish out on the big water with the latest technology. I would go into detail here but, it would take to long and you can google these items or call me to talk about them. To make it safely thru the fog it has a 24" digital HD radar dome. There is auto pilot on the main engine. VHF marine radio with marine weather band. Remote controlled search light on the bow. Has digital Lenco trim tabs with indicators. Underwater led lights and blue led courtesy lights. There are four electric scotty down riggers with traxtech rails holding 8 rod holders. Custom rod holder on top with led fighting lamps. A fish hawk with depth and extra probe, & flo scan. Black box and remote controlled power in otter boat reels. Has two live wells on cycle timers. There is a wash down pump and hose. Has nice drop curtains off the hardtop when the weather is foul. For power it has a new 5.7 Volvo penta engine with the Volvo SX drive. This is a BIG MONEY option over a mercruiser engine/outdrive. I'll explain why when you call. Has a new carb and intake. The engine has a closed cooling system which is perfect for you wintering saltwater guys, although this boat has NOT seen any saltwater, but it is ready if you do.The 15hp Pro Kicker is new and has the Garmin Tr-1 Gold auto pilot with throttle control. It holds 138 gallons of fuel. The trailer has a new remote controlled electric winch with a new optima battery and newer tires. Trailers nicely due to the boats 8 1/2 foot beam. Weighs 6,000 lbs. Grady 282 Sailfish Review As usual, Grady has built a superb offshore pocket fisherman. I'm a tad too large to take advantage of the living quarters, but those smaller than I could weekend on it comfortably.Schools of finger mullet came out of Spooner's Creek with the regularity of waves hitting the shore. With no current to speak of and calm winds, we barely drifted while throwing the cast net into the shallows. A dozen throws filled our baitwell, and we moved off to a wreck about 5 miles west of Beaufort Inlet. Anytime you have a deepwater channel surrounded by shallows with lots of water moving through, tide changes can spawn some pretty choppy conditions. Grady-White's 282 Sailfish with its SeaV2 hull moved us through the bumpy inlet like it was nothing, and just like that we were on our way out to hammer the Spanish mackerel on light tackle. Performance Running in and out the inlet, the Grady 282 displayed absolutely no idiosyncrasies. It neither swerved running down-sea nor slammed running up-sea. Throughout the day, nary a drop of spray made it onto the windshield. Trolling speeds produced a clean wake with minimal surface white water. Twin Yamaha 225 four-strokes ran quietly at cruise and silently at idle. Top speed at 6,000 rpm turned out to be 45.6 mph not blisteringly fast but certainly plenty for a family walkaround, especially considering the 40-gph fuel consumption at that speed. You can cut that by about one-third (26 gph) by dropping the speed back to 37 mph at 5,000 rpm. At that rate, expect a range of approximately 284 statute miles figuring a 10-percent fuel cushion. ADVERTISING We fished, like so many families do, drifting and anchoring up on a wreck. Drifting, the 282 rolled a fair distance but without a snap roll, so you can securely negotiate movement around the boat in a beam sea. Anchored, the 282 came to, solid as a dock with very little yawing on the rode. One thing you should be aware of: Grady's SeaV2 hull really grabs the water, which gives terrific control, but I wouldn't recommend cranking into a hard-over turn at cruising speed.
