This 1974 Bertram 28 Flybridge Sportfish has been professionally refreshed with substantial mechanical and electronic upgrades. She has everything anglers need for serious sport fishing. The 5.7 MPI Horizon 300 HP closed-cooled engines effortlessly power this strong-hulled boat. Other upgrades include updated marine electronics including a Garmin 940 color GPS-chartplotter-fishfinder and thru-hull transducer. Fly-by-wire electronic controls with a digital gauge array and Vessel View engine management system. Wiring of the entire boat was done in 2016 when it was repowered. There is a custom electronics box. Larger rudders were upgraded to provide greater control. This advertisement has been prepared for and posted by a private agent of the owner (vessel is no longer with Popyachts) . Every effort has been made to fully describe the various details of the vessel which is on a private lift in Fairview Beach, Virginia. Photographs document the classic lines, restoration and performance. The vessel is a privately owned, fully restored, 1973 Bertram 25’ Flybridge, purchased by the owner in 1998. It should be noted that the owners have invested in excess of $40,000 above its original purchase price in upgrades and restoration. Documentation of all repairs, upgrades and restoration is available for potential purchasers to review. History of the Vessel Since 1998, the vessel has been housed at the owner’s private deep-water lift and has been professionally winterized, shrink wrapped and stored on her lift each winter. Owners are amenable to sea trials and private dock viewing. Mechanical and Cosmetic Restoration and the Performance of the Vessel The Rainmaker has a V-berth with stand-up head for overnight outings. Her mechanical restoration included the installation of brand new twin Mercruiser 135 engines, outdrives and lower units whose out-of-crate installation occurred in 2004. The engines have accumulated less than 200 hours since that time. In addition, the flybridge and lower cabin helm were outfitted with all new throttle cables, steering cables and shift cables. The vessel can comfortably be controlled from either the lower helm or upper flybridge. The owner had the boat’s props properly pitched and “dialed-in” so the vessel cruises comfortably at 18kph. The entire exterior has been professionally restored. Bertram is renowned for their high quality manufacturing standards and as such, this vessel’s hull is crafted of high-impact, multi-laminate fiberglass. After purchasing the vessel in 1993, the owners restored the vessel to “as new” condition. The original existing gel coat was professionally removed and the hull was restored with an epoxy primer coat and lustrous new top gel coat which is evident in the photos provided. This restoration included all topside, flybridge and fantail surfaces as well as all non-slip surfces of the vessel. All of the mechanical refits and cosmetic upgrades and restoration work was performed by professional marine mechanics at the Fairview Beach Yacht Marina in King George, Virginia under strict quality control conditions. Instead of putting the Cummins diesels directly in front of the pods, they are moved farther forward to more evenly distribute the weight around the boat's longitudinal center of gravity. This keeps the 550 from having excessive bow rise and allows for the ride at a more sedate 5-degree bow high attitude. The Zeus pods are located well aft, under the crew quarters berth, and a jackshaft connects the engines to the pods. Low draft. Because her pod drives are in tunnels and she is of a moderate displacement her draft is only 3 8 (1.17 m), which is shoal for this size boat. Two control stations standard. Typically we see a standard flybridge helm station and an optional control station below. Many builders will use this plan to create a roomier salon. Prestige feels, and we agree in this case, that the salon is roomy enough and chooses to put in a lower helm station as standard. In addition, an optional third station in the cockpit is available. Versatile VIP sleeping. Virtually every boat on the market in this class has a queen bed in the forward cabin. This is fine for a couple, but what if you are have two gents or ladies, or teenage children to accommodate? Prestige has thought of that and had built its queen bed so that it can be split into twins with each berth being moved to the hill sides. We think this is a super design. Four Stateroom 58' Yacht.
