The owner of this Hatteras 36 Convertible has used the boat for fishing and cruising. The exterior surfaces are clean overall. The canvas looked good and the canvas over the aft deck was a recent addition. Isinglass was clear. The cushions on the bridge were cracking but functional.
In the cabin, the wood features were finished nicely and had good shine with minimal scratches or marring. The carpet was recently installed. Lighting mostly appeared original and was mostly incandescent.
The diesel engines are accessed through the salon floor. Aluminum framing holds the engine bay hatches in place and they appeared very solid. The engine compartment was dry and orderly. The generator has been removed and will need to be serviced or rebuilt. The props were dinged in shallow water recently and there is no prop vibration, the owner confirms. This owner replaced both starters, the hot water tank and the trim tab motor. The air conditioning is not working.

A Hatteras through and through, this 36 has broad shoulders and confronts the sea and swells like few other boats can. The aft deck is 12' 9" across and more than 9' long making room for the center rod holder pedestal, live well, big gunwales with rod holders, and a cleaning station with a sink. The distinctive Hatteras flair in the bow rejects spray making this boat particularly adept in rough conditions and dryer for its captain and crew!
This 36 is powered by twin Caterpillar 3208 Turbo diesel engines. With two helms, she is commanded from both the bridge and from the marlin tower. On the bridge are a swiveling captain's chair, loungers on each side and enough storage for life jackets under the seats and electronics near the helm station. The bridge has a full enclosure with isinglass. The tower ladder continues at the top of the deck ladder for effective sighting from the tower and always a great vew.
The cabin aboard the Hatteras is a stately mahogany-paneled delight. The salon is set up with a large leather sofa, cabinet and shelf space, and a full galley with an oven, three-burner stove, a refrigerator / freezer, and a galley sink. Canvas covers shade the forward windows. The side windows in the salon are nicely tinted and the blinds provide more protection.
Stepping down into the ship's living quarters, the head is to port with a full stand-up shower. Two full-sized twin bunks are on the starboard side and the forward stateroom has great cabinet storage below the V-berth and in the partial bulkhead. Portholes are spaced nicely around the cabin providing excellent light.
Whether sportfishing, cruising the islands or doing it all, this Hatteras is sure to make her new owners proud!
